What's wrong?[edit]

WTH? Why did you delete my entry? I didnt see anything wrong. I did not directly copy the text and I am not biased. Please give me a proper reason. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jbrian80 (talkcontribs) 01:25, 20 June 2006

I assume you are refering to my revert of your edit to RMS Titanic. Personally, I didn't see it as important to the article. Particularly in light of the fact that such replicias were never actually created. However if you still disagree, I suggest taking the matter up on the article's talk page: Talk:RMS Titanic. The consensus may disagree with me, and if that is the case, your addition will probably be included. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 01:43, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok now the Olympic photo too? The photograph was made before 1922 and the person that I ask permission actually own the postcard. jbrian80

But that doesn't make the photo within the public domain. Particularly if you have to ask permission each time the image is reproduced. It may be that the image can be used under fairuse. However when the image itself says "copyright reserved" it's a dead give away that this is not a "free" image. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 03:18, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Fine, To make you happy I axed the picture before it got deleted by wiki. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jbrian80 (talkcontribs) 07:11, 20 June 2006
This is not about "making me happy." Plus the image still remains where it has always been, Image:WSL Olympic(PC war).jpg. I never said that this image had to be deleted. The notice I placed on the image just states that I believe the license to be incorrect. It may still qualify as a fair use image. Also could you please sign your comments on talk pages with ~~~~ Thanks. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 14:55, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Thank you, Malo, for reverting the partial blanking of my talkpage. I'm trying to contact the anon who did it, apparently there's a dispute over some information I removed. Have a good day!--The ikiroid (talk·desk·Advise me) 15:13, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Malo[edit]

Hi over there. I noticed you asked user:TAIWAN to change its name to another, by stating he's username can be interpreted to cause issues. And i had seen you is using a name that can be rather offensive in spanish language, because Malo in spanish means, "bad" or something "obscure" (its like to say, something or someone will probably do something bad or evil) , personally i find it a little bit offensive. I think instead pushing other users to change their names first, perhaps you have to look into yours first. Usernames like nicknames , i believe they are quite uncertain, in some languages probably they dont have any meaning (i.e, english, korean, whatever), but on other languages they can cause a serious issue, so i advice you to look on your name first, instead having quick reactions to others. Nothing personal, cheers. :) --HappyApple 03:14, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I respect your opinion, however, I disagree. In no way do I view my username to be offensive in either Spanish or English. Personally I think your definition of "evil" is stretching the truth for the benefit of your argument. In the case of User:TAIWAN, there was actually a proposed policy to block all usernames which are of disputed states/territories/regions. I was simply acting upon what I thought was best for the project. You will also notice I made that request more than three weeks ago. However that user never responds to their talk page, so I dropped the issue. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 03:57, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That still doesn't change the fact that "malo" in spanish still means bad or evil (most people use it to referring to something evil), if you have any doubts about it find its definition on spanish dictionary.--HappyApple 22:52, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I made the request 3 weeks ago. If I was really intent on seeing it through, I would have blocked the user (again) for an invalid username. However since there seems to be little concern, I dropped the issue a while ago. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 23:02, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

some deleted article[edit]

I wrote an article on a popular area music producer and you deleted it. Why?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Ibgsoccer (talkcontribs) 22:29, 21 June 2006

Shoe on Head[edit]

A couple dopes keep reverting the article, when the group of people who've put in all the work on it would like to change it, why scold at me? You should be going after the guys who are auto-vandalizing the page with 3rd party software. Thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.136.42.114 (talkcontribs) 02:41, June 22, 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for clearing up the AfD rule. I added the AfD tag to the preferred version —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.136.42.114 (talkcontribs) 02:46, June 22, 2006 24.136.42.114 (UTC)

Thanks and question[edit]

Thanks for the revert on my talk page by User:203.45.248.72. I have a question though. If this blocked/banned editor has only 1 IP address he's working from, can't we indef bocked that IP address? It appears that from his last message that indef blocking the IP will only block the 100 computers available to him, thus blocking him permanently. Since he is indefblocked for WP:HA couldn't we do this? — The King of Kings 02:50, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Technically it could be done, however it is very unlikely. This is because of the fear that by blocking the IP that we are also blocking legitimate users as well. So for now, we'll block that IP, and should the vandals return, I will block it again for longer. However I suggest against a perm block. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 02:58, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, thats what I thought. Well, although I don't think there are any legitimate users there, maybe someone could turn up (even though CheckUser showed that that it was his IP) Oh well, could you just watchlist it for me so when the block expires you could moniter his edits? Thanks again, and Cheers! — The King of Kings 03:09, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'll keep an eye on it. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 03:15, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The anonymous vandal 24.185.55.92 is back again, he left uncivil messages with personal attacks at the talks of these and other articles: [1] [2] Could you please have a look? Regards, Grandmaster 17:05, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've blocked this user for a week due to the derogatory personal attacks that he/she made. [3]. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 21:49, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. He also tried to get my password, I received an e-mail that this IP requested it. Grandmaster 04:51, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I got your message and I didn't think much of it. But then that IP attempted to reset my password as well, twice in fact. So I have extended his block for a month, and left a message about it on his talk page. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 05:31, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I hope that will solve the problem. Regards, Grandmaster 13:04, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It seems my friend came back to complain to Jimbo. [4]The King of Kings 21:40 June 26 '06

I wouldn't be too concerned. Everyone has the right to complain (within reasonable limits), however his claims really haven't been verified, hence, I seriously doubt anyone thinks you "send viruses through the wiki to get passwords" in order to frame someone. Other than that, this user really hasn't done anything just yet that would require action. I'll be sure to keep a watch of the situation. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 21:49, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

vandalism on your userpage[edit]

I just wanted to let you know that I have removed some of the vandalism on your userpage and I have also attempted to remove any personal info that may have existed. In addition I have protected your userpage in order to prevent such vandalism from occuring again. If you have any questions, please let me know. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 04:25, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for protecting my user page (although, for the record, that wasn't my telephone number and 942 is a non-existent area code). joturner 04:30, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

while I am sure my opinion is not shared throughout the community, I would see this as one more reason not to use AOL. That said, I'm currently working on removing the autoblocks. Sorry for the inconvience. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 02:04, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

undeletion request[edit]

Hey, I'm looking for a friendly admin to temporarily dig a deleted article out to compare to the current one. The creator claims the new one should not be deleted b/c it is significantly different. The article in question is Kurushinism. Thanks if you can help.--Kchase02 T 05:06, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

btw, if there's some more appropriate channel for this, let me know. You were just the latest admin to edit WP:AIV, so I knew you were online.--Kchase02 T 05:07, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I looked into it. It seems that the previous version was much shorter but was about the same thing. Basically it is completely non-notable and unverified. You did the right thing tagging it for speedy deletion. If a user removed that tag without giving good justification as to why, put it back, and leave them a message on their talk page. I don't mind helping out, however if you need to get ahold of an admin quickly, I suggest you check out Wikipedia:IRC channels, lots of users and admins are online there. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 05:20, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Will go to IRC next time. Thanks, Malo.--Kchase02 T 05:59, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

block on User:Armsnax[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you also blocked Armsnax (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), and from looking at the block log I see you have the set time to expire in 24 hours. [5] I am curious as to why this is? Is there some reason why we would want the block on this vandal's account to expire? I am just curious because I don't want to see such vandals running amok again on wikipedia. Thanks -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 29 June 2006 (UTC)

I myself wanted to come to your page. Thanks for dropping in. I set the limit as 24 hours and then I noticed that you have blocked him indefinetely. Your curiosity is fair. Actually, after seeing the block log and the indefinite block, I think that my block for 24 hours had become infructuous. Cheers! --Bhadani 15:46, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Are you aware of the fact that once your block of 24 hours expires, it will allow the user to edit again? This is really the reason why I asked in the first place. I don't want to make a big deal of the whole thing, but I just wanted you to be aware that this sort of thing can happen. I have already made adjustments to insure that this user is indefinately blocked again. Thanks. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 16:50, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Frankly I was not aware - as I administer less and contribute to the contents more. Thank you for not making a big deal of this! Still, I am not sure of all our blocking policies. I will remain in touch with you to learn more. --Bhadani 16:57, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I notice you've reverted this user's talk page edits. Shouldn't we also take this user's suicide threats seriously? He's placed them on two differen't talk pages. This looks like a police matter to me. What's the policy on this sort of thing? Rklawton 19:26, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speaking of which, thanks for the vandalism revert. That user would be the permanently blocked User:Biff loman9 who also vandalized the blocking admin User:Woohookitty's user page using IPs. Thanks again. Netscott 19:28, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Doh! It looks like I didn't read his edits carefully enough. What a doof I am. He wasn't saying he was going to kill himself. He was impersonating a couple of users on their talk pages and putting words in their mouths. So it wasn't a suicide threat, it was just vandalism as per his usual. Sheesh. My bad. Rklawton 19:51, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is difficult for me to take anything a vandal says seriously. I'm no psychologist, but I'm guessing this is more a cry for attention or an attempt to guilt others. However if you wish, you might try contacting Bell Canada, with this IP, since it an ARIN lookup returns,
Bell Canada BELLCANADA-5 (NET-64-228-0-0-1) 64.228.0.0 - 64.231.255.255
Bell Nexxia (HSE) NEXXIAJ10-CA (NET-64-231-0-0-1) 64.231.0.0 - 64.231.95.255
Other than that I don't know what to tell you. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 19:53, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is clear that you have great abilities at your disposal, however I fear I will never understand as to why you use them to vandalize. You could be doing so much more with your time/abilities. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 05:49, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
