To enforce an arbitration decision, and for disingenuous edit summaries, edit warring, and treating Wikipedia as a battleground, you have been blocked from editing Wikipedia for a period of 48 hours from certain pages (2023 Israel–Hamas war and Talk:2023 Israel–Hamas war). You are welcome to edit once the block expires; however, please note that the repetition of similar behavior may result in a longer block or other sanctions.

If you believe this block is unjustified, please read the guide to appealing blocks (specifically this section) before appealing. Place the following on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Please copy my appeal to the [[WP:AE|arbitration enforcement noticeboard]] or [[WP:AN|administrators' noticeboard]]. Your reason here OR place the reason below this template. ~~~~}}. If you intend to appeal on the arbitration enforcement noticeboard, I suggest you use the arbitration enforcement appeals template on your talk page so it can be copied over easily. You may also appeal directly to me (by email), before or instead of appealing on your talk page.

Reminder to administrators: In May 2014, ArbCom adopted the following procedure instructing administrators regarding Arbitration Enforcement blocks: "No administrator may modify a sanction placed by another administrator without: (1) the explicit prior affirmative consent of the enforcing administrator; or (2) prior affirmative agreement for the modification at (a) AE or (b) AN or (c) ARCA (see "Important notes" [in the procedure]). Administrators modifying sanctions out of process may at the discretion of the committee be desysopped."

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

Please copy my appeal to the arbitration enforcement noticeboard or administrators' noticeboard. :I feel the reasons given for my block are unjustified: :1- disingenuous edit summaries: in reference to this edit. Disagreeing with my edit does not mean my edit summary was "disingenuous", nor is it a consistent editing behavior of mine. Furthermore, it is not one of Wikipedia's blocking reasons. :2- edit warring: On the article I was blocked from editing, I have initiated seven discussions on the article talk page ([1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7]) and others on my own talk page, where we reached consensus in a constructive way ([8]). :3- treating Wikipedia as a battleground is also unjustified as testified by my consistent and lengthy efforts in reaching consensus with other editors in that specific article ([9], [10]). :Overall, the goal of blocking is to prevent disruption to Wikipedia, and there is no evidence that my editing was disruptive in any way. As outlined above, there was a constructive, collaborative and respectful effort to contribute to the article I was blocked from; something I have consistently engaged in for the past decade in WP:ARBPIA articles, and is attested by my clean record. These reasons were argued by someone I was reporting, and the user wanted to retaliate, there is no objective justification for it. And anyway, my good faith behavior necessitates receiving a warning before being blocked per WP:BEFOREBLOCK. Makeandtoss (talk) 12:36, 15 October 2023 (UTC)

Decline reason:

Procedural decline as the block has expired, as noted at the AE discussion, and thus this request is moot. — Daniel Case (talk) 06:28, 19 October 2023 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Copied to WP:AE#Arbitration enforcement action appeal by Makeandtoss. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:45, 15 October 2023 (UTC)

@ToBeFree: thank you. Am I allowed to ping involved editors or is that considered canvassing? They are users who I argued and disagreed with on that article but nevertheless ended on a peaceful note and reached consensus. Makeandtoss (talk) 20:52, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
Mmh, good question, and may depend on the way you do it and how many that are. Would you mind sharing the list in response to this message without pinging them? ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:54, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
(By the way – this may be obvious but the instructions above have been arguably confusing, so I need to say it – you are of course welcome to edit WP:AE and participate in the discussion; the block doesn't affect this, neither technically nor procedurally.) ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:56, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
@ToBeFree: thanks for the notice, I realize, I didn’t comment on the accusations leveled at me in the previous discussion because I assumed they wouldn’t be taken seriously, a disingenuous attempt to derail discussion on the original complaint; but here we are. Anyway, the most user I engaged with on that article was Merlinsorca, who I’ve never encountered before; we discussed anf reached consensus both on my talk page and article talk page. Makeandtoss (talk) 21:09, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
Ah. Well, in that case (1 user), I'll just go ahead and invite them to the discussion on their user talk page. Thanks for asking. It seems like a reasonable thing to do, especially given that WP:AE has an extra section for involved users. I'll simply ask Merlinsorca to use that one. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:13, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
@ToBeFree: Anytime, it’s always good to consider guidelines. Thanks again. Makeandtoss (talk) 21:18, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
You shouldn't be editing things related to the hospital explosion in Gaza... see https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Al-Ahli_Arab_Hospital&oldid=1180789048 LegalSmeagolian (talk) 21:22, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
Apologies for getting heated I didn't realize the block was so short. LegalSmeagolian (talk) 21:23, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
@LegalSmeagolian: The block doesn't concern this article. Why the reversion? Makeandtoss (talk) 21:25, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
@LegalSmeagolian an expired block from a different article should not have any effect on this editor's standing on a different article. If you disagree with their edits, you should use the dispute resolution processes as normal. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:29, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
Yeah I know my bad, apologies to all involved. LegalSmeagolian (talk) 21:30, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
I misread the block and all that nonsense. Main reason for reversion is that english language sources refer to the hospital with the al prefix and we should reflect that. LegalSmeagolian (talk) 21:30, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
@LegalSmeagolian: I understand but emphasis on the beginning of the sentence, as it is redundant linguistically and grammatically speaking. NYT doesn't use Al- for example. Makeandtoss (talk) 21:33, 18 October 2023 (UTC)

yahya sinwar page

Hi @Makeandtoss, I see you recently updated Yahya Sinwar page. I want to let you know that I edited a much more thorough page about his biography but it was reverted. You can find it in the history under Mashtock a few days ago. If you can add the many details that are missing, for example his connections to his brother, his political activity and connections during his studies, his nephew taken part in ISIS, etc. It would be amazing if you can add some details there. 46.120.6.71 (talk) 15:32, 16 October 2023 (UTC)

Israel RfC

Might I suggest you withdraw the RfC you posted on Talk:Israel? ARBIPA editing isn't fantastic at the best of times, and I don't see how it could be productive now. CMD (talk) 08:26, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
