Welsh devolution referendum, 2011[edit]

Do we need the absolute numbers as well as the percentages? I was thinking of changing the table to add columns in order to tidy it up, but it would be more in line with past practice - Welsh devolution referendum, 1997 - simply to use the percentages. Views? Not knowing the first result was looking at how close it could be but with the results coming through I would tend to agree to remove the figures! --User:madscotinengland Madscotinengland (talk) 12:07, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK - I'm very impressed by the speed with which you're putting the results up! Ghmyrtle (talk) 12:17, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Joys of paternity leave with and waiting for baby to come! Something to help the day go by! Any changes you do make, especially with formatting to make it more athestically pleasing would be very much welcome! Madscotinengland (talk) 12:20, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 16:51, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Red Nose Day 2011[edit]

Hello

I liked the majority of your improvements to the page but that seemed unnecessary and your change to the presenters list overly complicated. :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oracle 45 (talkcontribs) 09:52, 19 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

thanks for the feedback - in all honesty I've had very little to do with the presenters list - it was moved from the main Comic Relief wiki so not sure about it to be honest! it's looking like quite a good article now though - lots of people contributing valuable suggestions Madscotinengland (talk) 09:56, 19 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on First Glasgow Route List requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. C. 22468 (talk) 12:10, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for August 27[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Scottish National Entitlement Card, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Attendance Allowance (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Ways to improve Balgray railway station[edit]

Hello, Madscotinengland,

Thank you for creating Balgray railway station.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

Reviewed during NPP. Pretty clearly does not meet wp:notability. The SNG explicitly says that rail stations are not presumed notable and so must establish notability under GNG. Suggest merging into the rail line article.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|North8000}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

I have sent you a note about a page you started[edit]

Hello, Madscotinengland. Thank you for your work on Balgray railway station. North8000, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:

North8000 (talk) 21:46, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@North8000: If you compare the rest of the line, there is a rail station page for each train station. For that reason, all articles along the train line need to have the consistency applied. This was acknowledged by other commenters. Madscotinengland (talk) 18:52, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That just means that any others that don't establish GNG should be merged or deleted. That aside, why not spend your time developing/building a nice article on the overall line, including sections on the stations? Instead of investing your time on articles whose existence violates wP:Notability. Either way thanks for your work! Sincerely, North8000 (talk) 13:30, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
