Welcome to the machine...[edit]

Some links you may find useful:

There are roughly 200 bajillion zillion policies and guidelines; these are some of the more important ones:

  • WP:Verifiability – everything on Wikipedia should be verifiable (see also WP:No original research)
  • WP:Consensus – decisions on Wikipedia are made by mob rule. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't, but you can't act against the general consensus, even if that consensus is stupid
  • WP:Be bold – if you're not sure whether you're doing the right thing, just do it and see if anyone objects. There's nothing you can do that can't be undone (as John Lennon didn't quite say). However...
  • WP:Edit warring – if someone reverts your edit, that's the time to start a discussion. Don't fight to keep your own edits in place, even if you know you're in the right
  • WP:Assume good faith – never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by incompetence (Hanlon's razor)

And most importantly:

  • WP:Ignore all rules – "If a rule prevents you from improving or maintaining Wikipedia, ignore it."

Let me know if you need help with anything. Happy editing! DoctorKubla (talk) 12:16, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Also, this is how to make your watchlist more useful:
Click on "Preferences" (up top near your username). Click the "Watchlist" tab, and select "Expand watchlist to show all changes, not just the most recent". Then go to the "Recent changes" tab and select "Group changes by page in recent changes and watchlist". Now over to the "Gadgets" tab – under the "Watchlist" header, select "Display green collapsible arrows and green bullets for changed pages in your Watchlist, History and Recent changes" and "Display pages on your watchlist that have changed since your last visit in bold" (one or both of these may be enabled by default – just make sure both boxes are ticked). Then click "Save" at the bottom of the page. DoctorKubla (talk) 12:29, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
