COVID-19 pandemic in the UK article

Hi! In this edit, you consolidated a number of citations into a block. However, in doing so, you broke the citation template formatting that provides detailed information in the generated cites, so I've reverted that change. If you want to group cites together, could you please keep the internal formatting of each citation intact? -- The Anome (talk) 13:29, 4 January 2022 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but you've done it again: see this diff. Can you see that you have replaced cites that use templates such as {{cite web}} and {{cite news}} with text and links? In doing so, information such as archive URLs has been lost, together with the structure inherent in these templates that is useful for anyone wanting to reformat citations or extract data from these tags. This represents a significant loss of information, so I've reverted your change again, but restored your most recent edit, which has no problems. Have you tried using the "Edit source" option? -- The Anome (talk) 14:42, 4 January 2022 (UTC)

The Anome I am aware that this format of grouping citations isn't ideal but as this overview is lumping together several events into single statements I think it is necessary to tidy up the references. As a tag indicating overuse of citations has been added it is likely that if these changes are not made then several citations will eventually be entirely cut away removing information from the article alltogether. As none of the links are dead or in particular danger I didn't think to much was lost by removing the archives but I could re-add them if you prefer.--Llewee (talk) 15:17, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
Yes, but can you please preserve the archive links and the original use of citation templates? The links may not be dead currently, but the archive links exist as a method to prevent link rot. Note that the Internet Archive is not the only web archive out there, so having the URL is not redundant. -- The Anome (talk) 16:16, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
The Anome Ok, I'll revert your last edit and then re-add the archives.--Llewee (talk) 16:26, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
