- I've added the DeviantArt and Mam Tor links back in as they don't appear to be creating a problem (although you were right to remove the Mam Tor one because the one place there is no wiggle room is on adding links to your own site, just drop a note into the article's talk page and someone will add it) but it looks like the robots have deemed any weebly.com links to be verbotten and you can't beat the robots (the seeds of Skynet there).

It seems a shame not to have the Beardist thing up as the page is so great and comprehensive, and also because it's fascinating and growing. I know a bunch of students are writing up theses on it, and (and this may be a little problem) we're trying to raise awareness, as it really has got an important point to make about contemporary art. I guess the best thing to do is keep gathering information and building on the movement, and maybe getting stuff out that isn't on Weebly or wiki, until it's considered important enough.

- Looking through what the robot says it seems it wasn't having problems with the messageboard links just the weebly.com ones and it was reverting all your edits (including the addition of things it would normally allow). I've dropped it back in and we'll see what happens. I'm afraid there is no reasoning with the robots (although your "I'm Liam Sharp" edit had a John Connor feel to it) but it might be possible to argue to have the site delisted. I'd assume there has been some trouble with people hammering in their sites and it was just deemed less hassle to blacklist the lot, which is a pity as it punishes the majority of legitimate users. Your best bet is to keep an eye out for third party coverage and throw in the links to them (which is probably a good idea all round). Other than that all you can do is ad them to your MySpace and ComicSpace (I added a link in to that) and so it is just a click away. Not very convenient but... - That's great - by a strange coincidence I was rereading Bloodseed a few weeks back at the same time I was checking out something in some back issues of 2000 AD and stumbled across your ABC Warriors story and so I made a mental note to expand your bibliography. This'll really help. I've saved them off and will format them and get them up in the next day or so.
- I'd forgotten about the China Mieville link but if it gets the thumbs up from him then that is good enough for me ;) I'm really a little over-enthusiastic about his books and will try and push the Bas-Lag series, in particular, on anyone who listens! You should twist his arm to do more comic work, but I see he has done something for the Hellblazer Xmas special so perhaps you've already infected him with the "bug". You're bang on - I've introduced China to a few comic people, at Marvel and DC. I'd love to see him do more, and we have talked about doing something together. We'll see. These things can be hard to organize because of time and commitments, the rare chance that openings will emerge at the same time... And as for Bas-Lag... I'm with you all the way. Fanatical about it. When I met China for the first time I had a total fanboy moment, shaky legs and all. I wrote my number down in my Sharpenings artbook, which I gave him, and a few months later he called up - it had taken him that long to de-cypher my shaky writing! LOL! Turns out he was a long-time fan of my work too, so it just went on from there really.
Can't believe you were reading Bloodseed!! There's a character it would be fun to revisit...

- Indeed - it was cruelly cut into two mini-series and then we never got the second. It had a lot of potential, as you can't beat barbarians in a high-techworld. I was reminded of the best Starblazer stories. I have been working on improving the Marvel UK articles so was re-reading various back issues and talking to John Freeman (although it looks like the sources are thin on the ground).

- Thanks - you are a mind reader!! I was looking at the mention on Mam Tor and checked the link which is now archived and inaccessible (although I did manage to download the PDF from there so it isn't all lost), so I did make a mental note to look up more information. I missed the Guardian article so that is much appreciated (media coverage like that is gold - like Gordon Brown in Paul Cornell's run on Captain Britain) and Roger Langridge is an inspired choice for the artist (I love his work on the Fin Fang Four).
- Also thanks for the link - it was very evocative of what it must have been like in those heady days. Rest assured I may very well take you up on your offer (depending on how things work out with John) as the one of the things going over the Marvel UK articles has driven home is how little information there is to hand but it does help with working out what questions need to be asked (although since the Dez Skinn article was gutted for lack of sources, it might suggest there are a lot of them!!). You mention a book on Marvel UK - now that is something I'd like to see!!
- Anyway things are shaping up nicely, the next step is to work through the interviews and flesh things out to give a more rounded article (great to hear you are a fan of Ray Harryhausen - that was another fanboy moment when I met him. Note to self: I should upload a photo for his article).

I'm not sure I have your work on/with Storm straight as the Don Lawrence article suggests you did some work on it after he sadly passed away (I'm a big fan - I have a large stack of Look and Learns purely because of the Trigan Empire. At 50 quid a go though, I'm waiting until I win the lottery or get very lucky on eBay, before I can pick up the collections)
No, I worked with him one summer when I was 17, then at 18 I was his apprentice for a year, and that's when I did some work on Vandaal the Destroyer. I went back to work with him on his last album, which I'm credited on, helping out with the last ten pages. It was so nice to be working with him in his home again after so long. After that I was going to take over Storm, with Dave Gibbons writing, Don laying out. We did the first few pages, but the time it took was prohibitive, and there simply wasn't going to be enough funds to make it possible. A GREAT shame. He was a dear friend, terribly missed. So no, you were right - they were the same thing. We talked about doing an Event Horizon mag with Storm in it, but getting sales and distribution in the UK is near impossible, and requires resources we just didn't possess. No body can accuse me of not DREAMING big! :)

but there isn't a source (although I have found an interview in which you say your first published work was in "Storm: Vandaal the Destroyer"). I also see from one of the interviews that you were working on getting permission to do something along those lines for a future Event Horizon (with Dave Gibbons no less!!) but there haven't been any further issues (I assume a full time gig at one of the Big Two doesn't leave much time for labours of love) and it is possible that there might have been a mix-up somewhere along the lines, although I suspect they are different things. - I'm glad to hear you had a fanboy moment because when I was typing that reply it occurred to me I'd struggle to keep it together (I have form for it having got a little weak-kneed when almost literally bumping into Tom Baker, meeting George Romero and emailing Michael Moorcock). There aren't many times I've read something and I was.. "inspired" by it (and encouraged by the fact that there was always room to shake things up and turn it up a couple of notches): Michael Moorcock, Alan Moore (especially his Captain Britain run and when I got the first issue of Warrior) and most recently the Bas-Lag books, I'd bet good money I'd get a little over-excited if I met Alan Moore or China Mieville - the best I could hope for would be going all quite as I'd only embarrass us both by gushing about how good there work is.
- Very encouraging news that he is fitting into comic circles, Vertigo seems the natural home for him (I suppose at some point someone will suggest adapting his books but I'd rather see something original). Although, as you say, time is always an issue and I hate to think it slowed his book production down!! (Emperor (talk) 04:37, 6 November 2008 (UTC))

Ah, Ali Pow3rs - the man, the myth... the what exactly? One of the most talented guys, and probably only genuine genius I know, but useless at maintaining a thread through his life. He's kind of 'cult' famous now, but I'm certainly that will just keep growing steadily and slowly...

- Spot on - the page can be a bit confusing because there are various options, the best one is going via the route you went as adding it to the Commons area means it can be used across the various wikis (as opposed to uploading it for each different language). I've added it to the article.
- There is a tiny text note that appeared when I added the image. I can't work out while it is there but will consult with someone who is more knowledgeable about image-related matters and it should be fixable.
Thanks Emperor. I think the note is about the fact it was cleaned up in photoshop - and made black and white. But that was done by me, so all good. :)
