April 2021[edit]

Information icon Hello, Kwshermach. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page A. O. Smith, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. EpicPupper (talk) 19:52, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to A. O. Smith, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Boy, I really stumbled[edit]

I thought if I identified myself as a company representative it would be transparent, but it's clear I should've done my homework on this before getting down to work. I'll review all the COI and other guidelines over the weekend, as well as my terrible html skills.

Would you be able to revert/reject any edits, with the exception of the Chairman, president & CEO being Kevin J. Wheeler? https://www.aosmith.com/News/2020-News/Ajita-Rajendra-to-retire-as-executive-chairman-of-A--O--Smith-Corporation/

Thanks for the heads up, I'll be better!Kwshermach (talk) 20:17, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kwshermach, thanks for this note! As long as you follow the advice of other editors and at least try to follow our policies, you'll be off to a great start. In particular, I recommend reading WP:COI, WP:10SR, and WP:MARKUP (on the syntax that Wikipedia uses for editing. If you think that it's too confusing, you can try the VisualEditor. As for the reverts, no worries! I don't need to revert anything because of a simple COI. Other editors will correct any tone and neutrality issues when needed. Welcome to Wikipedia! We hope you stay here. Feel free to reach out on my talk page, or at the the Teahouse if you need any help! EpicPupper (talk) 03:59, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
