Thank you for your contribution. However, I have removed it because it contained controversial claims and did not cite any reliable sources. Best wishes

Wika, Wika, Wikipedia? Wika, Wika, Wikipedia![edit]

No one may have asked this, but I actually did this originally for a school project, but now I know Wikipedia is AWESOME! I will dedicate myself to Wikipedia. I also want my classmates to know that if they want to make a good image for Innovation Middle, they better shape up, and even though I can't point fingers at people due to Wikipedia guidelines (which I would like to state I follow well), I will find some way to show the school or even those people themselves, that they need to show more enthusiasm. Also I had my first article with a lot of controversy, so to see what started it all, check out this link to Innovation Middle! 03:59, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Innovation Middle[edit]

Hi there, thanks for your contributions to Innovation Middle. Initially, I marked these as vandalism as they seemed to constitute as such - on second glance, I'm not sure the material you are trying to add is suitable for an encyclopaedia. If you'd like to provide reliable, verifiable sources as citations for the material, I'll be happy to review the material once you've published it. Please let me know if you have any questions. Cheers! Bailmoney27 talk 18:19, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Just an update: I've worked on the article some more, and it's been moved to Innovation Middle School, though the old article will redirect. Bailmoney27 talk 19:10, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 21:18, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

About Innovation Middle School[edit]

Hello, Kurtisawesome! I am the one who proposed merging Innovation Middle School to the school district article. I see that you immediately started trying to improve the article. That's great, and I congratulate you on your eagerness. Let me give you some suggestions. There's no rush; it normally takes at least a week before a merge request is acted on.

References: It's best if you can cite them in-line instead of just putting a link under the References section. It's also best if you can put them into a Wikipedia-recognized format. Here's the easiest way to do that: When you are in the edit window, you will see a row of boxes above the window. Click on "cite". That will give you a choice of formats; you will usually want either "web" or "news". Click on that, and paste or type the relevant information into the form. Normally this should include at least url, title, and source (called Work for web pages and Newspaper for news coverage); for a news item also provide the date. Then find where you want to cite it in the article, insert your cursor there, and click "Add citation". That's important! If you don't click "add citation" you will lose all the information and have to do it over. If you do this, Wikipedia will automatically insert a reference number as a footnote and list the citation under "References". If this doesn't work for you, let me know and I will help you figure it out.

Type of sources: Look for news coverage - not just routine stuff like when graduation takes place, but actual news about the school. The best way to search for that is to go to Google News [1], type "Innovation Middle School" (with the quotation marks) into the search bar, hit search - that will show you recent items. To see older material choose "search tools", "any time", "archives". If it gives you stuff about other similarly-named schools in other cities, search instead for "Innovation Middle School" San Diego.

Your goal here is to prove that Innovation is notable in a way that most middle schools aren't, and the way to prove that is to find significant coverage from independent reliable sources. Good luck! Ask me if you need help. --MelanieN (talk) 21:56, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}} on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and should be treated accordingly.

We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! Kurtisawesome01 03:06, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

Userboxes[edit]

Hello again, Kurt! I see that you have added several userboxes to the top of this page. That's a fun thing you can do here at Wikipedia and I'm glad to see you found them. Just to let you know, most people put their userboxes on their userpage (User:Kurtisawesome01), rather than their user talk page (this page). You are free to do either, but most people do their talking about themselves on their userpage, while their user talk page is for communicating with other Wikipedians. --MelanieN (talk) 00:20, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

November 2013[edit]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Innovation Middle School may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "()"s and 2 "{}"s likely mistaking one for another. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Innovation Middle School[edit]

Hi, Kurt! I went ahead and made Innovation Middle School into a redirect to the school district. Your article was well done, but the school doesn't meet Wikipedia's criteria for an article on a middle school, which is that it must have gotten a LOT of outside attention from reliable sources like newspapers. You did a good job on the article, although it reallly needs to have some outside sources (not just the school website). Your article is now in your private space here: User:Kurtisawesome01/Innovation Middle School. At that location you can edit it, show it to other people, etc. and no one will hassle you about it or try to delete it. But I don't suggest you try to submit it to the main encyclopedia unless something changes and the school becomes unusually famous.

Meanwhile, I hope that when you have time you will continue to edit here at Wikipedia. You caught on to how to do things really fast and I think you would be a great Wikipedian. I suggest you start the same way I did: instead of trying to write an original article at first, just read other articles about things that you care about (such as your local high school, or your favorite video game). When you see something that could be expanded or improved, go ahead and do it. By making small edits here and there, you will come to understand what is and isn't appropriate for Wikipedia. I look forward to seeing you here as an editor for a long time. If you have any questions, just ask. You can comment here; I will put this page on my Watchlist so that I will see it. Happy editing! --MelanieN (talk) 18:12, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That is nice you made these changes, but some middle schools need this same treatment, and some of these are also in the San Diego School District. If I get treated like this, I hope other sights get the same treatment. Kurtisawesome01 20:38, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

I hope so too. Looking at the San Diego Unified School District list I find only four middle schools that have articles here. Three of them have enough outside references (in other words, they have had significant coverage in the news) that they qualify for an article; per Wikipedia standards, they are notable. One doesn't have any references at all and I will evaluate it; it may need to be redirected also. I see it was nominated for deletion in 2008; the decision was that it shouldn't be deleted but may need to be redirected. Nobody ever followed up. I'll take a look. --MelanieN (talk) 22:23, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
