AfD nomination of Silvaticus 3015

An editor has nominated Silvaticus 3015, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Silvaticus 3015 and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:59, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Image copyright problem with Image:Gabriela Lost.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Gabriela Lost.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --FairuseBot (talk) 01:19, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Ralph Burkei

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Ralph Burkei, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

being the victim of a heinous crime is not sufficient grounds for notability per WP:BLP1E (which also applies to recently deceased persons)

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Proposed deletion of Kevin Beurle

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Kevin Beurle, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Wikipedia is not news, and this individual seems to be notable for one event and one event only; other than his tragic death, he has no other claim to fame.

Kevin Beurle

Hi Kiwipat; you have removed the PROD on this article. However, as it currently stands, the article doesn't look notable to me. I'm not a scientist or anything, and neither will be the Average Joe visiting the page. Please could you add some details re:Cassini–Huygens, explaining what that is and what Beurle's role in the project was. If you do so, I won't pursue deletion any further. Cheers! I have nominated Mariqueen Maandig, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mariqueen Maandig (2nd nomination). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

entrepreneur Rob Williams

Hi Kiwipat. You added this man to deaths this year back in March. I note someone has recalled what would have been his birthday last Friday and proposed the biography for deletion. I suspect that the article could reach AFD since the same editor disapproved of the article concerning Rob's business. Perhaps you could help me with rewriting what I started late one night? --Regards Ricksy (talk) 23:12, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Good to see a like-minded Wikipedian

I see in your userbox that you are obsessed with people who have recently died. Good for you - it is good to come across a like-minded soul. I remember saying in my undergraduate days that a section of newspapers I like to read is the the obituaries. I do not know about you, but one of the first things I normally do after logging on to Wikipedia is to click on the "Deaths in.." and then the current year. Last October, I created the page on the Japanese theologian Kosuke Koyama - I would not have learnt that he died on March 25 this year unless it had been for Wikipedia. I am always impressed by how quickly Wikipedia gets news of the recently deceased into Wikipedia - the other information resource from which I learn such information tends to be the BBC (I live in the United Kingdom and I sometimes mention, in telephone conversations with my parents with my parents, people I have heard have died on the BBC news - I mentioned that I heard how Henry Allingham had died in July this year, after hearing this news on the programme Today on Radio Four in July this year (you might have worked out, that I am also deeply interested in super-centenarians). So please do not think your obsession is morbid - it is good to come across another Wikipedian with this interest. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 20:22, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
