A paper that doesn't mention the topic[edit]

At Mare Island Naval Shipyard, you added text and changed existing text to fit your interpretation of a 1989 paper by Sidney Harring. Unfortunately, the paper does not mention Mare Island, so it cannot be used to bolster facts related to Mare Island. To do so would be a violation of Wikipedia's policy outlined at WP:SYNTH, which discusses combining two sources to create a third conclusion. Basically, if you are citing a source that doesn't mention the topic, you are in SYNTH territory. Binksternet (talk) 03:39, 26 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Updated[edit]

Thanks. I have updated the citations to include reference to at least two ships constructed at and/or dispatched from Mare Island and involved in violence against Native Americans (USS Saginaw and USS Mississippi). The previous text that described ships dispatched from Mare Island to "subdue Native American violence" was not cited. --Kelly Black (talk) 04:14, 26 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you don't need to start a new section for each reply, just indent. Also, you only have 19 edits thus far, and several of them are reverts, so you should be aware of the policy on edit warring going forward. Lastly, it would be better if these comments were posted to the article talk page instead of here, I will post a comment about the article there shortly. Thanks - wolf 07:28, 26 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. As you can probably tell I'm new to Wikipedia and appreciate the feedback. --Kelly Black (talk) 15:21, 26 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
