Copying or translating material in Wikipedia requires attribution[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you translated text from the German article Die Spur führt nach Berlin to All Clues Lead to Berlin. While you are welcome to translate Wikipedia content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing requires that you provide attribution to the contributor(s) of the original article. When translating from a foreign-language Wikipedia article, this is supplied at a minimum in an edit summary on the page where you add translated content, identifying it as a translation and linking it to the source page. For example: Content in this edit is translated from the existing French Wikipedia article at [[:fr:Exact name of French article]]; see its history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if translation is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{translated page}} template on the talk pages of the destination article. If you have added translated content previously which was not attributed at the time it was added, please add attribution retrospectively for that also, even if it was a long time ago. You can read more about author attribution and the reasons for it at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. In the case of this article, I have added the missing attribution to the page history for you. Going forward, please make sure you follow the attribution requirements for translated material, and if you have added translated content to other articles that is unattributed, please take care of that now, before you go on to other articles. Please stop adding translated plot summaries without attribution[edit]

I've delved a little deeper, and I can see that in your first four days here, you have added plot summaries translated from German and Italian to doezens of film articles, for example, these:

As explained above, attribution is required for all such content. Please stop adding translated plot summaries to additional articles, until you've fixed up the articles you have already added translated content to. You can use the following copy-and-paste model:

Content in the earlier edit of 23:59, 32 Octember 2025 was translated from the existing German Wikipedia article at [[:de:<Name of German article>]]; see its history for attribution.

substituting in the date and time of the edit containing your earlier translation that you forgot to attribute. If there are several edits containing translated content, then you can copy and adjust this model:

Content in the earlier edits from 12:01, 32 Octember 2027 to 23:58, 33 Octember 2027 were translated from the existing Italian Wikipedia article at [[:it:<Name of Italian article>]]; see its history for attribution.

Again, substituting the correct edit timestamps, which you can find in the page history (click the 'History' tab at the top of the article).

When you're all caught up with earlier translations, then going forward, please add this attribution at the same time as you add translated content (see WP:TFOLWP):

A question about your fluency[edit]

How would you rate your fluency in German and Italian? I noticed that the plot summaries you are creating from originals on German and Italian Wikipedia, are straight, word-for-word copies of the output generated by online automatic translation. Wikipedia frowns on WP:MACHINETRANSLATION, but if you are using it as an assist followed by copyediting for accuracy and style, that's acceptable. If you don't know German or Italian, however, then please don't just copy content from online translators into articles on Wikipedia. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 04:07, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please be sure to review the information that Mathglot has provided here about attribution requirements if you translate text from other wikis in the future. Also, in several instances you copied plot summaries directly from IMDb, Cinematografo, or other websites that are not compatibly licensed. Blocked as a sockpuppet[edit]
