DYK nomination of USS Marcellus (1879)[edit]

Hey, I've nominated USS Marcellus (1879) for DYK, a section of the mainpage that showcases new and expanded Wikipedia articles. In most cases, you can nominate an article for DYK in one of the four following situations:

  • You have created it within the last week, and it has 1500+ characters of prose (not infobox).
  • You have expanded the prose of any article to five times its previous size.
  • You have doubled the prose of a formerly unsourced BLP (living person) article.

I see you've found the nomination page, so I'll leave it at that. Thanks for writing such an article! Buggie111 (talk) 19:07, 19 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you![edit]

The Original Barnstar
As a former commander of the 2nd Engineers, I have researched the unit history in depth. Although during the struggle at Belleau Wood from the first attack of the Marine Brigade on 6 July until the division was relieved in July, all or part of the 2nd Engineers Regiment was engaged in every offensive action but is NEVER mentioned once in this article. The Regiment suffered 452 casualties for a 26.7% casualty rate. The quote I added came directly from: Transcript, Major General James G. Harbord, U.S. Army, "Address at Dedication of Belleau Wood, Belleau France, (22 July 1923)."
I would also note that this description of the battle is not very accurate. Colonel William T. Anderson, USMC (Ret) who for years led the battlefield staff ride at Belleau Wood, wrote an excellent (and accurate) account of the battle for "Army History" (Spring 2003), the magazine of the U.S. Army Center for Military History. I included it as additional reading at the end of the Wikipedia article. ENJOY The-Expose-inator (talk) 00:26, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Word of thanks...[edit]

Hi - Thanks for updating the USNA alumni entry for ADM Richardson. And thanks also for improving the format of the wikilink to his article. I tried every thing I could think of; I just didn't think of that. ☺ user:JMOprof ©¿©¬ 15:46, 10 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You recently added[edit]

something about, "Nelson's Hiker" at the The Hiker (Newman) article and I am wondering it that should read "Newman's Hiker?" I also would like to see a picture of the relief plaque that you refer to, I have not heard about it and am quite intrigued. Do you have a link to one? Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 16:15, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

PS. I checked your references and found a nice picture. Thanks. Carptrash (talk) 16:17, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Typo on my part, now fixed. Thank you for asking about it.--KMJKWhite (talk) 16:18, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Well thank you for bringing this memorial to my attention. I was just going to make that change myself, but I always look at who the editor is that posted it and if I like the look of them (purely subjective) then I write to them about it. Carptrash (talk) 16:24, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I am not quite sure what to move with the coordinates that you added at The Hiker (Newman), but I did generate a field in the chart for them. I could start cut & pasteing to see what happens, but . . . ...won't. Yet. Carptrash (talk) 18:58, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't know how best to display them when I started adding them, so put them in as hidden to save my work. It appears we both prefer a separate column so, if you don't move them, I get them later.--KMJKWhite (talk) 19:10, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure what of all the "text" (I know there is a better word) I need to copy and move. If you do one I can do the rest. In any case all the info is there (thanks) and there really is no hurry Carptrash (talk) 19:15, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

What was I thinking?!? I read the note at the beginning for the preferred date format, and then proceeded to change it in the body of the article. Thanks for reverting! Bob305 (talk) 22:16, 11 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation.[edit]

Hello KMJKWhite, I’m sending this invitation to you, as to a contributor to the article Awards and decorations of the United States government, who probably will have interest to have a look at the newly created Bravery Barnstar on the page Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Wikipedia Awards: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Wikipedia_Awards

As this Project currently regarded as semi-active, and not visited by many Wikipedians, then I, as participant of this Project, decided to send the invitations to right people, whose works on Wikipedia have been related to this topic. The Editor Dennis Pietras offered the idea to create the Bravery Barnstar, and I tried my best in regards of design of this, as I think, much needed Barnstar; thus if you will appreciate both, the idea and the design, please let other Editors know about that by writing words of support. All the best. Chris Oxford.Chris Oxford (talk) 22:21, 15 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@KMJKWhite, I appreciate very much your decision to give support for the Bravery Barnstar, and I thank you for that. I found out in the section Contribution, related to the page WikiProject_Wikipedia_Awards, that your support (17 February 2017), was the latest one. Only this way I figured out, that it was exactly your support because on the discussion your words are not authorized by your signature, to correct that it's necessary just to put four tildes, exactly in the way you will do, when you send message to other Editors, as on the discussion section the signature doesn't come with the text automatically. I thank you very much again. All the best.Chris Oxford (talk) 21:58, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Arthur MacArthur III and Sclass-, specifically my edit and your reversion.

Sorry about that, I made a simple typo while editing on mobile and it was not my intent to create a redlink.

I have made this correcting edit which uses the {{Sclass-}} as designed.
