Hello, good luck this semester in history of science. RobAndersen 17:40, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

Hey![edit]

I'm pre-med too! You should join the pre-med club! Good luck this semester Madison Lasiter (talk) 18:33, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Articles for class[edit]

The Mary Dixon Kies and Cell Theory articles would both work for our class, but the others in your list are a little late. Ideally we would focus on articles in the pre-Newton period (before 1720), but Kies is close enough. If you would like to work on one of the later figures, you could split your effort between the more modern article and one earlier article. Let me know what you decide. Cell Theory review[edit]

It was very well written and structured. The introduction was straightforward and to the point. You gave the basic definition of what a cell was, what the theory means, and even replicated the theory itself. The history of cell theory was very informative. You listed the original founders and their observations, even explained what kind of microscope each had to explain how they observed what they found, and why they couldn't observe what we are able to today.

There were basically no grammatical errors that I noticed. The only thing that I would change is the sentence, "Cell Theory is...of biology". In my opinion that sentence should be the introductory statement, but that's just me.

There weren't a whole lot of dislikes. I did think that there was too much about microscopes. There are also two pictures of Hooke's microscope. I liked the picture of the prokaryote, adding a picture of a eukaryote would be more complete. If possible, maybe add more about what we know about modern cell theory. That's all I got, hope it helps. 798wilkinson (talk) 23:51, 30 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested addition to Cell Theory article[edit]

Hi

As part of a new article on Gilbert Ling and his association induction hypothesis I wrote a section on opposing concepts of cell theory. I then discovered your excellent article on Cell theory. I thnk the Cell theory article would be much improved by inclusion of this section as it gives the historical context of the 'battle' between membrane theory and bulk phase theories.
