Question from Meruyerts (05:39, 1 August 2022)

Hello! How to add references? It appeared as a template. Thank you! --Meruyerts (talk) 05:39, 1 August 2022 (UTC)

Hi @Meruyerts, welcome to Wikipedia. See WP:Referencing for beginners. Claiming medicinal benefits (like "reducing the risk of some diseases") requires a secondary, published reputable source. The source you attempted to add, www.medinacoffeecompany.me, is not a reliable source and should not be used in Wikipedia articles. I've reverted your edit but if you have reliable sources supporting the information you've added, feel free to revert my edit while adding citations supporting the claims. I've also left a welcome message with useful links on your talk page. If you have any questions, please post a reply below. Justiyaya 06:04, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
Thank you @Justiyaya The source is from the book. The book has additional published reputable sources. Should I create a page for the book first? Meruyerts (talk) 06:51, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
What book is it from? I don't think making a page for the book is a good idea as most books are not notable. Justiyaya 06:58, 1 August 2022 (UTC)

"The Art of Arabic Coffee" by Medina Ilyas @Justiyaya 2A02:2908:5100:984A:6589:85FF:439E:E211 (talk) 16:00, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
@Meruyerts Definitely not for claims of medicinal benefits, maybe reliable for non medical claims. Do you have a conflict of interest with the subject? It feels like you might have an external relationship with either the subject or the cited work. Justiyaya 16:21, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
It's my friend's book:) Is it possible to edit wedding customs and the ingredients (spices) that people are using to make Arabic coffee? Without mentioning health benefits @Justiyaya 188.135.30.34 (talk) 17:29, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
@Meruyerts Ah okay, I think this falls under WP:SELFCITE. Thanks for being transparent about the source. Citing works that you (or your friend) wrote is allowed but probably constitutes a slight conflict of interest. The book you mentioned seems published and is likely reliable (or at least better than most of the sources in the article right now). I would say propose a change on the talk page of the article with {{request edit}} included at the top. Start with only the Wedding customs section as that's relatively easier than the ingredients. The book can be cited with <ref>{{Cite book |last=Ilyas |first=Medina |title=The Art of Arabic Coffee |date=2022-04-09 |publisher=[[Amazon Publishing]] |others=Illustrated by Olha Rybtsova |isbn=9798800137811 |editor-last=Leonida |editor-first=John |pages=99-100 |editor-last2=Petoukhov |editor-first2=Eugenia}}</ref> replace 99-100 in the pages parameter to whatever pages you are referencing. Please note in the edit request that you are using a friend's book as a citation and linking to this discussion may potentially help. Adding it in directly might be allowed but is probably not best practice. Feel free to post here if you have additional questions. Justiyaya 01:56, 2 August 2022 (UTC)

Trouted

Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.

You have been trouted for: YOUR REASON HERE Devilsgem0 (talk) 06:31, 5 August 2022 (UTC)

your nomination for speedy deletion of Act Now - Global Network for Climate Action

pse review my answer and suggest - I own www.actnow.org.in

Yeah conflict of interest editors are strongly suggested to create drafts through WP:AFC and not send to mainspace directly, left you a talk page message about it. Justiyaya 06:39, 5 August 2022 (UTC)

Regarding Wikiproject villages

Hi. I need your help regarding the backlog at WP:VILL. I have created more than 30 pages through AfC which are in WP:VILL. But after my request was approved as AfC reviewer, I don't want to touch my own submissions. The other AfC reviewers of WP:VILL are inactive for more than two weeks. Can you please help me there as none their to check my submissions? Regards - Signed by NeverTry4Me Talk 06:44, 5 August 2022 (UTC)

@NeverTry4Me I'm not really good at judging WP:NGEO stuff... Usually AFC reviewers can approve their own drafts. I think there was a discussion about this somewhere but don't really know. Else you can remove the template and move the draft directly I guess. Sorry... Justiyaya 09:06, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
@Justiyaya I also see no rule to approved own AfC submission if meets WP:RS and WP:THREE. I shall do as per these 2 rules. Thanks for your response. - Signed by NeverTry4Me Talk 09:10, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
ah okay, happy editing :D Justiyaya 11:20, 5 August 2022 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – August 2022

News and updates for administrators from the past month (July 2022).

Administrator changes

  • An RfC has been closed with consensus to add javascript that will show edit notices for editors editing via a mobile device. This only works for users using a mobile browser, so iOS app editors will still not be able to see edit notices.
  • An RfC has been closed with the consensus that train stations are not inherently notable.

Technical news

  • The Wikimania 2022 Hackathon will take place virtually from 11 August to 14 August.
  • Administrators will now see links on user pages for "Change block" and "Unblock user" instead of just "Block user" if the user is already blocked. (T308570)

Arbitration

  • The arbitration case request Geschichte has been automatically closed after a 3 month suspension of the case.

Miscellaneous

  • You can vote for candidates in the 2022 Board of Trustees elections from 16 August to 30 August. Two community elected seats are up for election.
  • Wikimania 2022 is taking place virtually from 11 August to 14 August. The schedule for wikimania is listed here. There are also a number of in-person events associated with Wikimania around the world.

NT4M

If you could offer NT4M some guidance and encouragement, perhaps we can avert an indefinite block. Best -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 13:50, 6 August 2022 (UTC)

@Deepfriedokra We haven't interacted much and I was only the randomly assigned mentor from the mentorship module for a brief period of time (probably not right now) but I'll try I guess... Justiyaya 13:55, 6 August 2022 (UTC)

NT4M

Hey, Justiyaya, I see NT4M does have email enabled. Could you email them and encouraged them to vent to you privately? They're flirting with having talk page access removed, and it's not at all unlikely someone will just decide to indef. And frankly, I can't see that ending well. Valereee (talk) 13:52, 6 August 2022 (UTC)

Whoops, too late on the talk page access. Well, that's probably for the best at this point, but still, email them. Let them vent to you, maybe get it out of their system, because if they come back in red hot after the block ends, it won't be a good situation. Valereee (talk) 13:54, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
@Valereee I've emailed, thanks for everything :D Justiyaya 14:01, 6 August 2022 (UTC)

Question from Boocie Zibuko (15:52, 11 August 2022)

Hey I wrote an article cause I was in a Digify Pro program so it was one of our assessments I still want to write more and we awaiting feedback about how our articles are and one of them got rejected it's about King Sweetkid I just want a simple explanation as to why it rejected cause of referencing and how I can do it better --Boocie Zibuko (talk) 15:52, 11 August 2022 (UTC)

@Boocie Zibuko What is a "Digify Pro program" and why do you have to write an article for it? What are you referring to with "we"? Justiyaya 16:20, 11 August 2022 (UTC)

Question from BlueFlameSound (19:20, 12 August 2022)

Hi! How do I create a page for a musician? --BlueFlameSound (talk) 19:20, 12 August 2022 (UTC)

Hi BlueFlameSound, please check our notability guidelines for musicians, if the musician meets the guideline, please see Help:Your first article. Justiyaya 02:30, 13 August 2022 (UTC)

Question from Sebastian809 (11:30, 21 August 2022)

I have a banf and we need a Wikipedia page we are blowing,up and,i feel as ig it would be beneficial --Sebastian809 (talk) 11:30, 21 August 2022 (UTC)

Hi Sebastian809, please first review Wikipedia's plain and simple conflict of interest guide and declare a conflict of interest. I would say that it is highly unlikely that the band is currently notable, although I might be wrong. See notability criteria for bands and the general notability guideline. Spotify is not usually independent of the subject. Please do not copy directly from other websites, as they are likely not suitable with Wikipedia and will likely result in the page being deleted. Justiyaya 13:01, 21 August 2022 (UTC)
Thanks Just, I've deleted and warned Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:45, 21 August 2022 (UTC)

We are notable we are currently blowing up and I just need help setting up a wiki page

Sebastian809 (talk) 14:45, 21 August 2022 (UTC)
@Sebastian809, please review the above guidelines on the notability criteria for bands and the general notability guideline. Those pages might be helpful in understanding notability and how it works. Justiyaya 14:57, 21 August 2022 (UTC)

How many citations does an article needs?

thanks Silver.Contributor (talk) 15:11, 26 August 2022 (UTC)

Hi @Silver.Contributor, two to three independent, reliable sources providing significant coverage is likely enough. Your draft, currently has no citations supporting notability, please add them before resubmitting. Thanks! Justiyaya 15:26, 26 August 2022 (UTC)
Ok. I understand that about IMDB...BUT a citation from BFI (The British Film Institute) Sight&Sound is pretty notable, tho!
In any case, I'll work on the draft, on putting more citations (more than 3 for sure) and then submit it for review.
Thanks a bunch @Justiyaya! Silver.Contributor (talk) 15:33, 26 August 2022 (UTC)
@Silver.Contributor The issue with the Sight&Sound one was that it didn't provide significant coverage. As it is one mention in a huge list of different movies. Feel free to post if you have additional questions :D Justiyaya 15:48, 26 August 2022 (UTC)

Question from Samsharifi7 (10:28, 27 August 2022)
