WikiCup 2010 February newsletter
Round one is over, and round two has begun! Congratulations to the 64 contestants who have made it through, but well done and thank you to all contestants who took part in our first round. A special well done goes to 
Sasata (submissions), our round one winner (1010 points), and to 
Hunter Kahn (submissions) and 
TonyTheTiger (submissions), who were second and third respectively (640 points/605 points). Sasata was awarded the most points for both good articles (300 points) and featured articles (600 points), and TonyTheTiger was awarded the most for featured topics (225 points), while Hunter Kahn claimed the most for good topics (70). 
Staxringold (submissions) claimed the most featured lists (240 points) and featured pictures (35 points), 
Geschichte (submissions) claimed the most for Did you know? entries (490 points), 
Jujutacular (submissions) claimed the most for featured sounds (70 points) and 
Candlewicke (submissions) claimed the most for In the news entries (40 points). No one claimed a featured portal or valued picture.
Credits awarded after the end of round one but before round two may be claimed in round two, but remember the rule that content must have been worked on in some significant way during 2010 by you for you to claim points. The groups for round two will be placed up shortly, and the submissions' pages will be blanked. This round will continue until 28 April, when the top two users from each group, as well as 16 wildcards, will progress to round three. Please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup; thank you to all doing this last round, and particularly to those helping at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Hi Jujutacular, I came across your page seeking for an answer, as I was seeking for another answer. Both unanswered so far. I was expecting an answer from Okip, so I went to his page. There I saw a posting from Coffee, which surprised me as being associated with coffee as I am. Thus I went to his page and was very impressed with his curriculum and graphics. I asked him a question, but did not get an answer. Looking for this answer, I found your name and page, which are equally impressive. I will ask you to please help me with two questions: 1) how can I improve my signature, from the plain ordinary Arial blue to a bold italic Verdana burgundy? - You can change your signature by going to "my preferences" - one of the links at the upper right corner of you screen. From there, enter in the code that you would like to be your signature where it says "Signature:". To create a custom signature, I would suggest looking at the code used by other editors. You can see the code they used to generate their signature by looking at source code for any talk page they write on. Font can be changed by using the code:

produces this: This is a maroon Verdana font
- For a full list of colors available, see Web colors. When editing your signature, you should make sure that it falls within the guidelines located at WP:SIGNATURE. As for the edit counter, the one linked on my userpage is this one. Simply type in your username in the box, and you'll get a lot of information. The signature change did not work
Hello Jujutacular, I tried to change my signature and it did not work. I copied your instructions, practiced and practiced and practiced, until I got it right. Very exciting! Then I went to my preferences tab, and in the signature box Iinserted this:
And got this: Invalid raw signature. Check HTML tags.

- I have tried over and over again, but I can't get it. To complicated for a coffeeologist. This is what I was able to do, but it is not working. Grancafé parley. Please give me some further advice. - The problem was you didn't use the closing "</sup>" tag. If I understand correctly this is what you want:

Hi Jujutacular, I uploaded a new version of File:Desargues theorem alt.svg. I was considering closing the FPC nomination when I noticed that the label at the B intersection was running into a line, and that the red dots were not as easily visible as in the original version. I hope you don't mind, I made those two changes instead of closing the nomination. I didn't increase the size of the dots very much as I thought they were a little large in the original anyway. convert to .svg?
Hi, I understand from one of your above comments that you have Adobe Illustrator? I have a piece of music I've transcribed and which I'd like to save as an .svg, but the program I created the music in will only let me export to Illustrator, Corel Draw, or the usual range of .bmp, .tiff, .png options. - By historical, I mean that it will not be needing updating, as the Civil War is long over. Again, still the only historical featured alumni list I'm seeing is List of United States Military Academy alumni (Confederate States Army). I'm extremely sad to see you do this. I can tell that you put a lot of good work into the list, and I thank you for it. Don't let this get you down, please! I've seen you around a lot, and I've admired your work. WikiCup 2010 March newsletter
We're half way through round two, and everything is running smoothly. Hunter Kahn (submissions) leads overall with 650 points this round, and heads pool B. TonyTheTiger (submissions) currently leads pool C, dubbed the "Group of Death", which has a only a single contestant yet to score this round (the fewest of any group), as well five contestants over 100 points (the most). With a month still to go, as well as 16 wildcard places, everything is still to play for. Anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.
Although unrelated to the WikiCup, April sees a Good Article Nominations backlog elimination drive, formulated as a friendly competition with small awards, as the Cup is. Several WikiCup contestants and judges have already signed up, but regular reviewers and those who hope to do more reviewing are more than welcome to join at the drive page. Expansion As you've certainly seen, I've edited this article substantially today. I figured I would give you the heads-up about a few items. First off, if you want more sources (specifically reviews), see here: http://allgoodnaysayers.net/music/albums/illinois/ . If you want to know what I have in mind for expanding the article, take a look at ETHWHT; this is the only other album article where I've really put forth an effort and that is probably a model of what I think would be an optimal album article (e.g. a longer reception section, the inclusion of at least one audio sample, etc.), so if I continue working on this with you, it will probably end up looking more like that article. Pomplamoose

- Unfortunately, that would constitute original research. Everything on Wikipedia must be "verifiable", meaning anyone reading the article can look down at the sources and see for themselves where it came from. Really, there is no way to include that information unless someone else has discussed it. To be honest, I was a bit surprised. Are you certain that it wasn't the original version of the song that was in the Cadillac commercial? The Pomplamoose song is a cover of the 50s song Mr. Sandman. Maybe, if it is the Pomplamoose version in the commercial, they will talk about in a video sometime and we can include it :) Otherwise I don't think we can. Thank you, though. - Hi, I'm sure it was them, their unique sound is why I knew, confirmed by my family. I did see a post on their myspace from a person who heard them from another room. They said it was an Avalon commercial, pretty sure they were wrong. I didn't find any marketing announcement, but I will work on it. You closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lexie Marie (2nd nomination) as "keep." This was incorrect. The article was, at the very least, a non-consensus, probably a delete. Per NAC, non-admins are permitted to close "Unanimous or nearly unanimous keep after a full listing period." 3k-2d with all of the keep votes referencing very questionable "guideline" PORNBIO is not nearly unanimous. - You marked PORNBIO as disputed after I closed that discussion. I have absolutely no problem with the guideline changing, if that truly is consensus. However I do feel my closure was correct. I'll just mention that there are some new reply options for this question, which also serves as an example of how the poll should progress when none of the available options suit the contributors. The question on dealing with unclear consensus has apparently been the most controversial so far. I remain hopeful that we will succeed in representing people's opinions by the time the poll ends. Add List of counties in Utah
In the revision history you have "m blank space: discuss with me if this was intentional)" It was intentional on my part. The 2nd table looks cramped while the 1st table has space before and after the table. What is the proper way of doing this?
Also, you removed the the en dash between the dates in the second table. The format for the second table has changed, so it is moot, but why the removal? I'm still not sure on the hows of en dashes. Bgwhite (talk) 23:28, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
- I believe it looks best as is, doesn't really seemed cramped to me. If you feel strongly I wouldn't oppose over it. As for the en dashes, I actually didn't remove them. I used the actual character itself (–) instead of the html code: (

WikiCup 2010 April newsletter
Round two is over, and we are down to our final 32. For anyone interested in the final standings (though not arranged by group) this page has been compiled. Congratulations to Hunter Kahn (submissions), our clear overall round winner, and to 
ThinkBlue (submissions) and 
Arsenikk (submissions), who were solidly second and third respectively. There were a good number of high scorers this round- competition was certainly tough! Round three begins tomorrow, but anything promoted after the end of round two is eligible for points. 16 contestants (eight pool leaders and eight wildcards) will progress to round four in two months- things are really starting to get competitive. Anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.
Judge iMatthew has retired from Wikipedia, and we wish him the best. The competition has been ticking over well with minimal need for judge intervention, so thank you to everyone making that possible. A special thank you goes to participants
