Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Coulomb's law (magnetism) a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Speedy deletion nomination of Coulomb's law (magnetism)[edit]

A tag has been placed on Coulomb's law (magnetism), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Coulomb's law (magnetism), a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Click here to contest this speedy deletion and appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Whatever you are trying to achieve, this is not the way to do it. Coulomb's law (magnetism)[edit]

Move the article to User:Joseaugustocale/Coulomb's law (magnetism) and work on it there to your heart's content. In your user space you may remove the speedy deletion template. In the man namespace you may not. Others may, but not you. If the article has been deleted you may ask the deleting admin to place the text in your user space, too.

So far all you have done is left an article which is incorrect in the main name space with flags all over it suggesting that someone might edit it. I know oyu are new here, so please get up to speed with the way this works fast. Attempting such a large item as your first edit is unwise. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 08:35, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There was an inevitability that the article was deleted. Copy and Paste is frowned upon unless there is an immediate and large differentiation between parent and child articles. I've suggested to the deleting admin on your behalf that they might userfy it for you. However, allow me to make a better suggestion.

Coulomb's law(s) are inter-related. It would therefore make much more sense to keep them under the same umbrella, and to create distinct sections for each law, surely? Wikipedia doesn't work that well with what is materially similar information in two separate articles, our readership gets confused. Hello Tim

I apologize but I clearly messed up in dealing with this issue.

How could I have the deleted page put in my user space, so that I can recover the time I spent editing it? Namely the references, which were not trivial.

I guessed that should exist something like that (user space edition), in order I could work on the page whithout exposing the inner works, but I did not relly knew it. It seems I am clearly a rookie, although I made some small collaborations to the portuguse wikipedia in the past, under the username Josecale. About a year ago I was given the oportunity to have a global login under that user, but the en version already had it taken, so I had to create another user just for the en version.

Never worry about making mistakes. Mistakes are not important. Now, this is the way to proceed:

View Coulomb's law (magnetism) and note the box which says the name of the deleting admin. This is RHaworth.
Visit User talk:RHaworth where I have asked on your bahelf and add a message like "Yes, please. that woudl be excellent" and sign it with ~~~~. Do not miss this step out. RHaworth is an excellent admin and will be able to help you, provided they are online.
Wait for things to happen. But, if you feel it is taking too long, you can always add {{Adminhelpme}} on this page and ask in the simplest way you can for the article which was deleted to be userfied so that you may work on it.

Now you have the source material back, please consider the best route forward. If I can influence you at all it is to expand the original article rather than to create a new one. You might start by raising the matter on the original article's talk page. Building a consensus for what you are about to do is usually the best route.
