Hello, Johnny Appleseed 396. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Jonny Linehan, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. If you don't want Jonny Linehan to be deleted, please add a reference to the article.

If you don't understand this message, you can leave a note on my talk page.

Thanks, Vanjagenije (talk) 07:54, 9 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Johnny Appleseed 396. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Frank Jackson (Basketball Player), for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. —JAaron95 Talk 04:42, 11 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about Frank Jackson (Basketball Player)[edit]

Hello, Johnny Appleseed 396,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Frank Jackson (Basketball Player) should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Frank Jackson (Basketball Player) .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks, —JAaron95 Talk 04:49, 11 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with Frank Jackson (Basketball Player). Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. ~Oshwah~ (talk) (contribs) 05:01, 11 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 05:20, 11 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Question for administrator[edit]

Hello! I hope this gets to an admin. I am new to wikipedia and am trying to make a few pages, but I have received very negative feedback from the community. I have attempted to make two articles, Jonny Linehan and Frank Jackson (Basketball Player), but within minutes two very unhappy people wanted to delete my pages. I don't get it. Can you please remove the Deleting peding signs on my articles and help people understand I'm just trying contribute? I feel like they are just picking fights because they have nothing better to do. Thank you so much for your help!!! Johnny Appleseed 396 (talk) 04:19, 12 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there - welcome to Wikipedia! I understand your frustration and I'm here to help explain a bit about how things work around here. Once a deletion discussion has begun, it has to run its course, which is usually seven days. I looked at the two articles you mentioned, and to me they fail our notability standard for athletes. This standard has been developed over many years and has wide consensus; articles which do not meet it are rarely kept.
I suggest you focus on improving existing articles by providing reliable sources, so you can get a good handle on how these articles are developed, before you begin creating new pages. There are lots of stubs about athletes that need improvement - for example, we have American basketball biography stubs, American football biography stubs, and then there's the entire list of American sportspeople stubs - just pick some and start writing! Before long, you'll be creating pages on notable subjects and you'll have a much better experience here.
Please let me know if you have more questions or need further assistance. Again, welcome, and I hope you decide to stay. :-) KrakatoaKatie 00:52, 13 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Article deletion can happen very quickly, I've seen things tagged within minutes during an editathon. You can do several things to increase the chances of survival for a new article. Use the {{under construction}} template for articles, or create it first as a draft. Work with a more experienced editor until you really understand the notability guidelines, maybe at an editathon or via AfC. Your new article on Zaqistan looks like it's probably deletion-proof at this time, but I'll be keeping an eye on it. – Brianhe (talk) 16:34, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on League of Utah Writers requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. I see you are among the leading editors at Frank Jackson (basketball). Would you consider helping me determine which images to use in the 2016 McDonald's All-American Boys Game by commenting at Talk:2016_McDonald's_All-American_Boys_Game#Image_voting.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 02:53, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
