Douglas Adams[edit]

"Fan" may be the wrong word but it can be assumed based on what he wrote that Adams liked either Jesus's ideas or didn't like the idea of people people nice to each other. 132.241.245.49 20:41, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I tried for a compromise on this. In the appropriate section on the Douglas Adams page, it now has a bit more text from his interview with American Atheists - he describes his own "fascination" (his word) with religion in general, not any specific religion. --JohnDBuell 04:25, 21 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Milestones[edit]

Hey, John. I noticed that you've got a number of "milestone edits" listed on your user page. How do you find that out? Did you have to scroll through all your contributions counting, or did you keep checking the editcount tool? Or is there some other tool I don't know about that will tell you which of your edits was number such-and-such?

CBYX[edit]

It appears to me that you participated in Congress-Bundestag(looking at your edit of the article and your residency and your Deutschkentnisse). Any advice for someone who is interested in doing it after high school? KevinPuj 17:10, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They've actually recently extended 10 scholarships a year for students to study after high school. Thank you for your response. KevinPuj 02:05, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Scouting article work[edit]

If you are getting this, it is because you do or did work on Scouting articles (see Wikipedia:WikiProject_Scouting#Participants_and_primary_areas_of_interest).

As the Scouting WikiProject has been formed since early January 2006, we've had many great improvements made in this area of Wiki and I want to personally thank everyone for their help. We don't always agree on things, but we keep moving forward. YIS, Rlevse 22:09, 25 April 2006 (UTC) EXTRA TO YOU FOR ALL THE HELP ON THE FAC![reply]

Aurora, IL[edit]

Thanks for the help on the Aurora, IL page. I was 71.228.38.128 . I didn't realize I had so many errors. Thanks though! --Mjvan12 21:49, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

List of Illinois County Seats[edit]

I have been working modestly on several of the lists of county seats to try to give them a more consistent appearance. I note that you have basically redirected a list of Illinois counties into this slot. While it contains the basic data on county seats, it is not consistent with the other sheets in this series. Would you have any objections if I were to create a new sheet for this series, and break the redirect link you have set up? Mind you, I don't propose to alter the basic Illinois county sheet--just to create a separate sheet for the list of county seats to use in that series. I'm new to Wikipedia, and want to be sure I don't offend any sensibilities by changing something that someone had a good reason for doing, so wanted to check with you before making such a change. Anoranza[edit]

Simply look at this user's recent contributions; it's systematic reversion[1]. If anyone dares challenge these actions it becomes an AN/I or RFC. Haizum 06:29, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And be careful, you are dealing with a particularly venomous species of editor. Haizum 06:34, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It is entirely obvious that names like "Just Cause", "Iraqi Freedom", and "Peace for Galilee" for military attacks are propaganda. The fact that the propaganda is a practice with tradition does not change anything about this. Neutrality is a basic principle that has to be taken into account at whatever page. Eagle Scout FAC[edit]

Hitchikers Guide[edit]

Makes perfect sense. Thanks for the well articulated discussion. It's always nice having those on Wiki, instead of simple, trite answers. --MorrisS 01:39, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AM page question[edit]

Hi John. I know we haven't been on best terms, but I wanted to ask a question. Do you think the Accelerated Math page is too much like an advertisement? I hope it isn't, but since my sources tend to be the company webpage and their publications, it might sound like it. I think Accelerate Math, like Accelerated Reader is in common enough usage to warrant an article, but I'm not sure. I would think that if we have a page on AR, we should have one on AM too. I was also wondering why User:MCrawford wanted to remove the article. I went to his user page yesterday and it said he was "curriculum developer and instructor for Art of Problem Solving" (old User:MCrawford page), which is "an educational resources company." It also appears that he was cited for advertising on Wikipedia (User talk:MCrawford). Given these issues, I wonder if he has a conflict of interest or if he is upset that the AM article hasn't been cited as advertisement while his pages have been. What do you think of all of this? Chris53516 16:54, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I copied part of this to the Talk:Accelerated Math page and cut the discussion from my user page. Hope you don't mind. Chris53516 17:48, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Howdy, I'm just letting you know I'm uploading a higher res. version of the YFU logo from our database. samwaltz 13:46, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Heya John, do you happen to know anything about GAPP? I'd like to fill up the page soonish, but I've got a bit much on my plate. I'm skimming goethe.org as we speak... samwaltz

hhg2 caption[edit]

Thanks for fixing the caption; I probably would have fixed the capitalization, but I also would have most likely forgotten to link it. I must be more careful, especially with a featured article! Reimelt 22:47, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your edit; I had no idea he was actually called William...not read the books but love A Touch of Frost...just wanted to make the linking text more attractive.

Unfinished[edit]

Thanks for your comments on the FAC for unfinished work. I agree with what you are saying, and would like to include some comments on architecture. If you have any other examples that you think are relevant then that would be of great benefit to me when I add that section. violet/riga (t) 17:47, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unfinished work FAC[edit]

Thanks for your support on the FAC for unfinished work. It seems that Raul654 decided that the nomination had gotten stale and, after many additions to the article, I have renominated it. Please take a look to see if it meets your approval. Thanks, violet/riga (t) 13:22, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fluent Reader[edit]

Tolled state roads...[edit]

I don't think Illinois 7 is part of a toll road. Illinois 7 stays north of I-80 for its whole length, and passes under I-294 as Southwest Highway. What I might have forgotten is that some state routes (Illinois 9 for sure) traverse toll bridges going to other states. —Rob (talk) 13:57, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Architecture of Windows NT[edit]

Thanks for the suggestion; I have moved the page to Architecture of Windows NT. It seems there was discussion to that effect on the talk page but nobody ever made the move. There is no longer need for a FAR. Andrew Levine 12:02, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think there might be a big problem with that new name. It is factually incorrect, due to the whole line being discussed, and worse than that in sfotware terms, it sounds obsolete. The discussion did *not* reach consensus, so could it be that the move is a bit unilateral? I, like the others have no easy answer, "Architecture of recent Microsoft Windows" seems limp, as do "Architecture of modern Microsoft Windows" and "Architecture of contemporary Microsoft Windows", so do "Architecture of Microsoft Windows NT and later". I think now that W98 will be unsupported 2007, "Architecture of Microsoft Windows" (used with caveats) is best. I added this text to the talk page. Widefox 01:04, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I do not wish to get involved with something bigger than the MS OS article, but I've taken this up with Andrew Levine. Widefox 01:22, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
