Texas in the South[edit]

Hi, I was just wondering what your opinion on Texas being part of the South is. There has been some debate about this; 86% of Texans consider themselves Southerners, and Texas was part of the Confederacy, but many non-Texans group Texas with the Southwest. If we can get the opinions of people from other Southern states about Texas, it would help. Thanks! --Stallions2010 19:45, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Bobcat-small.jpg listed for deletion[edit]

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Bobcat-small.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. — Nv8200p talk 04:34, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Floyd stadium.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Floyd stadium.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then you need to specify who owns the copyright, please. If you got it from a website, then a link to the website where it was taken from with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:32, 18 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. feydey 12:32, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use image use[edit]

I removed Image:Mtlogo.gif from a number of templates on which you placed it. You've undone this removal here on one template. Please be advised that the use of copyrighted fair use images on templates or any other non-main article namespace pages is not permitted per policy as described at Wikipedia:Fair use criteria item #9. I am undoing your re-insertion of this image on to the template. Please do not add this or any other fair use image onto any templates. If you have any questions about this, I'd be happy to answer. --Durin 14:35, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Floyd stadium.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Floyd stadium.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --Durin 14:37, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Learning's perfectly fine. Any chance you can get a camera and go take a picture of the stadium yourself? I realize it might not be as pretty as the one you uploaded, but we are focused more on free than pretty here. Of course, both would be nice, but we'd far prefer free. --Durin 14:46, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mtsu-stub[edit]

Hi - it has come to our notice that you have recently created a new stub type. As it clearly states at WP:STUB, at the top of most stub categories, on the template page for new Wikiprojects and in many other places on Wikipedia, new stub types should be proposed prior to creation at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, in order to check whether the new stub type is already covered by existing stub types, whether it is named according to stub naming guidelines, whether it reaches the standard threshold for creation of a new stub type, whether it crosses existing stub type hierarchies, and whether better use could be made of a WikiProject-specific talk page template.

In the case of your new stub type, it is not named according to stub naming guidelines (there is no such page as Mtsu, and abbreviations in general are rarely used unless they are well-known worldwide). It does not reach the standard threshold for creation of a new stub type (60 existing stubs, or 30 with a WikiProject - there are only 14 articles, stub or othewise, on MTSU). Your WikiProject would probably be far better served by a WikiProject-specific talk page template than with a stub template and category. Your new stub type is currently listed at WP:WSS/D - please feel free to make any comments there as to any reason why this stub type should not be proposed for deletion at WP:SFD. And please, in future, propose new stub types first! Grutness...wha? 03:14, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I too have removed my offensive stub tags and deleted the text from the template. I am interested in more information about what is meant by a "WikiProject-specific talk page template". JNAllen 09:56, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi JN - thanks for that! As far as the talk page templates are concerned, have a look at the templates at the top of Talk:Penny Lane, Talk:Dunedin and Talk:Grahame_Sydney to get some idea of the sort of things I mean. That way you can rate all the articles relating to the university, not just ones which are stubs. They are harder to create than stub templates, but are usually far more useful to stub projects, and if you have any problems with working out how to create one, it's very likely that someone at Wikipedia:WikiProject Templates would be able to help out. The other option might be to propose a stub type that covers all universities in Tennessee - between them there are more than likely to be plenty of stubs that would be covered by that, and it would still be a useful stub type for your project. Grutness...wha? 21:51, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject MTSU[edit]

Greetings. I just noticed your creation of this wikiproject, and joined up. I must admit I was a little surprised to see the project created, given the lack of numerous articles, but the coordination effort cannot hurt. In any case, I also noticed you said you were still somewhat inexperienced at Wikipedia, so please feel free to ask any questions...I'm not vastly experienced, but I've been here for a while. I do have some suggestions for the progression of MTSU articles, but I'll post them over on the Wikiproject talk page. Cheers! -- Huntster T@C 10:50, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled[edit]

Greetings. I see that not only are you an MTSU alum, but you also work on articles of cities around where I'm from (Oak Ridge). Would I know you from anywhere? --Milton 07:18, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

MfD nomination of Wikipedia:WikiProject MTSU[edit]

Wikipedia:WikiProject MTSU, a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:WikiProject MTSU and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Wikipedia:WikiProject MTSU during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion.
