ANI notice[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved.

I appreciate the heads up, but I want to note that I've explained several times I am not a part of whatever this is. I happened to vote in two AfD discussions (based on random browsing...I didn't even know how to check who page admins are until this blew up) without realizing there was any larger thing going on (and have stayed away from them since because I realized there's something going on there that I have no desire to be a part of) but most of my Wiki purposes involve adding detail to political science related articles for the purposes of helping fellow students who may be doing preliminary work/looking for relevant sources for papers, plus some stuff with pop-culture related stuff for the purpose of getting a handle on editing. I believed I was cleared in the sockpuppet investigation (I think? I'm not entirely sure how those work) and have not been involved with any of those pages since and would ask that I be left out of this as I do not plan or want to re-involve myself in whatever the hell this is all about (and for the record, I do agree that it looks like something weird is happening, I am just not a part of it). And I'm sure this is pointless because any objection I've raised before has been completely ignored.

"Welcome" to Wikipedia. Forget all the "anyone can edit" stuff -- while that's often true, it's unfortunately sometimes true that if you step on the wrong toes, as you seem to have inadvertently done, you find out it's a very political place (which might be of interest to a polysci student?) Anyway, the ironic thing is that on Wikipedia the best way to respond to repeated baseless accusations is often to simply ignore them; if a new person shows up and starts asking you seemingly legit questions you might want to answer. See WP:TEAHOUSE for a place that's designed to be friendly to the newcomers. I'm at least glad you're here and hope you're not too discouraged to work on some articles. As you've probably figured out, it's probably best to avoid WP:AFD discussions for the first few months -- you'll often run into cranky people in those places. Thanks! I appreciate it. My natural inclination is to defend myself but you appear to be correct that not be desirable or necessary here. You're totally right about the polisci connection- I like bureaucracy, administration, and arguing and often forget that maybe people aren't as dispassionate about it as I am, whereas I view it mostly as a fun puzzle to put together, others might take it more seriously. So I will keep that in mind/check as well. Again, I really appreciate it!Jdh9 (talk) 22:27, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
