Women in Liberia[edit]

You asked on the Africa board for any possible help. It is a great topic (very broad): you will find a ton on women during the civil war (see: Leymah Gbowee), so it seems like one thing would be to balance that with other important aspects of women in the country. Here's some suggestions of sources you might not otherwise stumble on: Check out UN Women- West Africa specific. In addition, for history of women in Liberia, you'll find some unique and weird stuff Liberia; or, Mr. Peyton's Experiments (a novel written by the writer of Mary had a little lamb)--it will probably just be a mention in the article you write because it is a novel and only tangentially about Liberia, but just wanted to make sure it gets noticed. Also, find Caroline Bledsoe's article on marriage in Liberia "Women's Marital Strategies among the Kpelle of Liberia", it should lead you to a lot of the anthropological literature on women in Liberia. Hope that helps, send me a message on my talk page when the article goes live! AbstractIllusions (talk) 12:28, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
