Postal cities[edit]

Hi and thanks for contributing. However I have some concerns about the "postal city" articles. I've started a thread at Talk:Los Angeles ‎ #Postal City. Could you share your thoughts there?   Will Beback  talk  10:58, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, Toronto ON[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Toronto ON. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as yourself. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Toronto. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Toronto - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Bazj (talk) 09:41, 1 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I understand, and agree with, your concerns about the pre-1968 Alberta flag used on the page. However, because it is wiki-standard flag and changing it will effect numerous pages and templates, you need to bring the issue up either on the Flag of Alberta talk page, or possibly the Wikipedia:WikiProject Heraldry and vexillology or Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada pages if the flag of alberta site doesn't have a large enough audience. Any decision then taken there will effect the Brier page. Additionally, your tagging of each flag as citation needed is inappropriate as it suggests that the fact that Alberta won the championship needs verification. Again, you have the right idea, you're just bringing up your problems/concerns at the wrong venue. Ravendrop 23:54, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wright-Phillips brothers[edit]

Shaun Wright-Phillips is the adopted son of Ian Wright.Bradley Wright-Phillips is his natural son. They both have the same mother but different natural fathers. Thus they are half-brothers by birth but full brothers by adoption. At least, that's my understanding. -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 10:22, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That is my understanding too. However, if they are full brothers by adoption, then when adoption is not mentioned, they are full brothers. When two brothers share no natural parents, they are either referred to as "adopted brothers" or "brothers", but never "friends"/"non-brothers". If you want to mention that they are only full brothers due to adoption, perhaps "half-adopted-brother" is the correct term, or maybe if it's that important, it's better to just refer to them as brothers and put the whole story in the next sentence. Jackie2541 (talk) 10:32, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
What we need is a source confirming the brothers' relationship and perhaps identifying their mother, Ms. Phillips. I'll see what I can find. -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 11:36, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Stampede[edit]

You don't put long laundry lists into a article that has been awarded featured article quality, it's poor style; the right thing to do is to create a new article, such as List of Calgary Stampede Champions and put it all in there. Your example of the curling article is nothing but a stub with a list. Totally different situation. Montanabw(talk) 15:49, 3 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on List of Canadian Rodeo Champions requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. I have entered an oppose to this deletion. The article needs work, but it fails A1 speedy. Give this new editor a chance to work on the article. Montanabw(talk) 18:40, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
