Canadian mining in the DRC

Wikipedia's job is to be an encyclopedia, not a source of public service journalism. What you would need to do, to justify keeping the article here, is to demonstrate that there's something uniquely notable about "Canadian mining companies in the DRC" that makes them a distinct topic from "American mining companies in the DRC" or "British mining companies in the DRC" or "French mining companies in the DRC". There's no question that there should be an article about the DRC's mining industry as a whole, but the appropriateness of your article is not a question whether there are Canadian companies that happen to be doing it — it's a question of whether the Canadian companies, as a set, are doing something distinct which makes them a unique topic within the context of DRC's mining industry in general, and which would merit special interest as a separate topic from other countries' mining companies.

So, then, what is it about the Canadian companies that would suggest that they need a separate article from the main one on DRC mining in general? What are they doing that makes them distinct? What is it that makes them a unique topic? The idea that Canadians might need the information to generate political discussion isn't relevant, because that's not what Wikipedia is here for; from a strictly neutral point of view, why are they a topic that needs their own separate encyclopedia article? The {{mergeto}} tag at the top of a page that's been proposed for merger has to name the target page; listing the title of the page the template is already on is incorrect, because it's essentially suggesting that the page be merged into itself. Also, just so you know, I'm not an administrator as you stated in Talk:Canadian mining in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, though I'm flattered. In any case, it's certainly encouraging to see how much Wikipedia policy and culture you've picked up in addition to your excellent writing (and revision!) skills.

You also mentioned article quality and importance grades. Those are generally assigned by the individual WikiProjects, and whether that happens or not really depends on how active the projects in question are and how much of a focus they put on evaluation. In general, the grades are pretty casual and advisory until good article and featured article status. You can always go to the WikiProject's talk page directly and leave a note asking for assistance from editors interested in the topic to try to rally up some help.

Nomination of Canadian mining in the Democratic Republic of the Congo for deletion

Userspace drafts

Hello IVX8O8XVI, I have noticed that you have a few copies of articles saved in your usesrspace. This can be problematic for a few reasons, and the guideline that addresses it can be found at WP:FAKEARTICLE. I think your primary reason for having these are so you had a backup version (and backups of the backup versions), however this is not necessary, as the Wikimedia software saves previous versions of articles, so if you make a mistake you can easily revert back to the previous version. Typically articles drafted in userspace are done prior to being moved to project space. If you have a draft of an article in userspace that will be there for a while, it is also helpful to add the template {{NOINDEX}}, which will prevent the page from showing up in search engines. My suggestion is to request the userspace versions be deleted, and make edits to the articles in the main project space. If you have a section that you want to work on without making several edits to the article, you can copy it over to a temporary area in your userspace (a "sandbox"), make the changes, and copy it back over.
