Hidden Gems Editathon[edit]

Hello again Hpielt! It was great to meet you last week at the Hidden Gems Editathon, and I hope that you enjoyed the session. I also hope that it's sparked some ideas about how you could work further with Wikimedia.

Now that you've learned the basics, I do encourage you to stay logged in, and have another go at editing. If you don't want to write a new article straight away, then why not try a small edit or two first, add a link, or maybe a picture? The Community portal is a really good place to start. Remember that we learned how to edit in Visual Editor, but you may want to have a look at Wiki mark up for use on talk pages and other discussion pages.

Wiki is never finished - it's a constantly evolving entity. And there are a huge community of other editors out there who can help.

Welcome! Now have some cake...

Here's some links that I hope you'll find useful:

The project page for the Scottish Library and Information Council Wikimedia project can be found here, and there's further reading specifically for librarians here.

Wikimedia training for librarians[edit]

Hello again Hpielt! Thanks for attending our Wikimedia training session for Librarians, and for being part of the first phase of the Scottish Library & Information Council's Wikimedia project. Our aim is to “Establish public libraries as quality content creators in the digital sphere, and to provide open access to freely usable content about Scottish culture, derived from our rich library collections", and it's great to have you on board. Now that you've learned the basics, I do encourage you to stay logged in, and have another go at editing.

I'll put a copy of my slides on Basecamp, however here's some links that you may find useful in the meantime (some of which are repeats from above). If you've got any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me!
