Help desk

Please revisit Wikipedia:Help_desk#Boilerplate_for_Files. BTW, are you still moving? Debresser (talk) 13:01, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I responded there. And as for moving, yep, I am. I moved out of my old place August 31, and I can't move into my new place until September 12. No bueno. Currently, I'm couch-hopping! Ah, the life of a college student. :) hmwitht 13:18, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That wasn't quite what I meant. I explained myself a little better this time, I hope. Well, while you are a student, moving is not that bad. Debresser (talk) 15:10, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you'd think so, but I have everything I own with me at school: couches, tables, chairs, large appliances and electronics, etc. I had to get quite a large storage place. It hasn't been much fun, but I'll be able to relax shortly. Joy! I answered your question there again. I hope your concerns have finally been addressed. hmwitht 18:08, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nashville

Don't forget to pack your bathrobe. Lara 18:16, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Shit, thanks for reminding me. It's in Columbus shoved away somewhere in my storage unit. I'll find it & bring it. Don't fret! hmwitht 18:18, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"The Game"

"Consensus" wasn't exactly right. It was more that you and I (who seemed to represent the poles on this issue) seemed to reach a kind of rapprochement. It took me a while to find where and how but here it is, if it helps tweak your memory: User_talk:JohnInDC/Archive_1#3RR. Here's the page following the edit that you'd seemed comfortable with [1].

Not sure this is worth all the links but I really didn't want to start that whole thing up again! JohnInDC (talk) 21:36, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure why it was removed in the first place. We don't have to prove how common/uncommon another name is to state it, but just that it's said. We also don't need to go into detail in the lead sentence of the article. If you think the nickname should be discussed further, feel free to add to the article. See MOS:BEGIN and MOS:BETTER#Lead section for how lead sentences should be written. Again, it still is not important that some people do not say the other name, but it's important to add the name if it said. I don't see how this could even be an issue in the first place. There's no need to limit listing another common name in order for people to more easily find and understand the article. hmwitht 22:12, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's said, but the most that can be said from the sources is that it's said by people from Ohio, possibly fewer people from Michigan, and followers of one or the other team who might live elsewhere. You don't remember all this? "Known as The Game" is an overstatement, unsupported by the sources (at least the ones we had on hand 18 months ago). I added something to the Talk page about this, if you'd like to continue the discussion. JohnInDC (talk) 22:17, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
We both started discussion there simultaneously, so we'll continue it over at Talk:Michigan-Ohio State rivalry. hmwitht 00:04, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I'm honestly confused. Eighteen months ago you thought the slightly less sweeping language I'd supplied was *fine*. I quote, from the link I gave above:
"Thank you for your edit to fix the saying. It's true that not everyone in the country call the game this, obviously, & your wording makes it more correct. Thanks! нмŵוτнτ 21:10, 26 February 2008 (UTC)"
Now, not only do you say that it's inaccurate, but worse, contrary to the MOS, and you've implied that I'm owning the article because I'm trying to hew to language that you had previously assented to. I think that's uncalled for. JohnInDC (talk) 00:55, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
We can leave it that way. The same thing happened as the first time: I got tired of debating it, because it's not a huge deal (or shouldn't be). However, the ownership comment was based on looking at the extended history of the talk page and article, where I see a ton of reverts and debates. hmwitht 01:00, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Organ harvesting proposed merger

Hello. Thank you for taking the time to comment on the proposed merger of Reports of organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners to Organ harvesting in China. There are four things I would like to say. Firstly, I believe the statement in favor of merger is problematic and represents several misunderstandings or misrepresentations. Secondly, I believe the statement against merger is not quite on point, and does not cut to the heart of the issue; even though I had written some or all of it earlier, the context was different, and I will rewrite it tomorrow to properly present the argument. Thirdly, since you have given your opinion I hope that you will be willing to defend it or otherwise engage in rational argumentation based on Wikipedia policy on the issue—I call for that here and a little bit here (but the real stuff is in the first “here.”) Fourthly, thanks and have a good day! (or night)--Asdfg12345 04:26, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've responded at Talk:Organ harvesting in the People's Republic of China/FG poll#response, questions again. hmwitht 16:58, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If the allegations were proven would you consider the page warranted?--Asdfg12345 02:49, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
My opinion has nothing to do with the truth of the matter, but I don't see why Reports of organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners in China cannot be a section (or a few sections) in Organ harvesting in the People's Republic of China. The section on it in that article can be expanded greatly. I would only support an article being created per summary style, but the article isn't large enough that it would be needed at this time. hmwith 15:39, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Online now

Are you online? Thanks. Acalamari 21:42, 6 September 2009 (UTC

Hey, I was semi-around at the moment. I saw your message. Then, my computer froze and I just shut it and gave up, because I had to head out anyway. What was up? hmwitht 04:40, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Hmwith, thanks for getting back. I needed someone with additional userrights (which you have) to sort something out. Fortunately, it's all been fixed now. Thanks again for returning the message: I do appreciate it. Best. Acalamari 15:36, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Terry Evanswood

Terry Evanswood article: I removed some portions of the paragraphs because the links doesn't cite the article. The links are wrong, inaccurate, doesn't give out the right info. Adding extra info without citations should be removed. Sweetfornow (talk) 05:09, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know much about the history of the article, but I'll assume good faith here. Unsourced material should be removed, especially in BLPs. hmwith 15:47, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What medical advice? Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 15:22, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I removed it here. hmwith 15:23, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Also, for context, I linked to the section on your talk page (see the recent posts link). hmwith 15:24, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That wasn't medical advice. It was my way of telling him he could get arrested by the police for getting involved in addictive drugs. I thought that was a reasonable alternative to deleting what looked like simple trolling. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 15:26, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I assumed that you meant cardiac arrest. I wanted to make sure you weren't freaking someone out for no reason. I apoligize for that, but it's how it appeared to me, and likely the user who asked the question. However, why would you assume that the user is illegally doing the drugs? I would assume that he was prescribed these drugs by a physician. Regardless, it's not helpful to joke about getting arrested when someone asks if 2 different treatments interfere with each other. hmwith 16:03, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It looked like trolling to me, in any case. But I'll let someone else deal with it. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 16:43, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

question

What is it exactly I'm supposed to write here? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Asmahan/Evidence and what am I supposed to write here? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Asmahan/Workshop --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 07:29, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

/Evidence: The instructions on the page say, "Place argument and diffs which support your assertion." Let's make the example it gives next work for your case. You would first make the title of the main section ==Evidence presented by Supreme Deliciousness==. Then you said originally that "[Arab Cowboy] is also constantly adding pov statements", so that title of one of the subsections, for example, could be ===Arab Cowboy constantly adds POV statements===. Then, in that section, add diffs and edits to specific articles that show Arab Cowboy frequently adding a lot POV statements. Then, the next section could use another argument that you've discussed, such as ===Arab Cowboy removes template sources===. Then, in that section, support that argument.
/Workshop: You can draft proposals, such as "proposed general principles", "findings of fact", "remedies", and "enforcement provisions". For more information about what each of those 4 things are, and for more information about cases in general, see WP:Arbitration/Guide to arbitration; it discusses all parts of the case and what everything means.
If you have anymore questions or confusion, feel free to ask. hmwith 15:20, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, I have now added evidence. Is it definite that the drafter will author a decision for the case?--Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 13:53, 20 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, and the arbitrators will reach a decision together. hmwith 14:03, 20 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, when can I expect a decision? and will I have an opportunity to suggest something?--Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 14:09, 20 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
A) Different cases take different amounts of time. I don't think this one will take too long. There just has to be enough time for evidence to be submitted and arbitrators to figure out handle the situation. B) Yes, you can draft proposals at /Workshop. hmwith 14:13, 20 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Source code

Hello there. How did you get access to the source code for the journey man service award? ~~ Dr Dec (Talk) ~~ 08:53, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Do you see how {{SA-yeoman}} is on your userpage? Well, the {{}} mean that the page is transcluded. To see the template, simply go to Template:SA-yeoman by entering it in the search box. hmwith 00:20, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Book

I move talk section and I think it is Okay but if I was wrong, you can do it again back.--Gaikokujin  talk  17:21, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's not a big deal, it was just in the right place originally. That doesn't involve admins more than it does any other editor. AN is to place something where an admin (use of the tools), specifically, is needed. Glad to see you're helping out though. No one will get too upset about it, but you probably won't get much response there. hmwith 17:24, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Body Modification

It would be great to have your help/knowledge in the WikiProject Body Modification and also the Portal I recently created. :) ScarTissueBloodBlister (talk) 13:21, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've checked it out. I'll have more time to put into it after the weekend is over. I'm glad to see great work being done in this area, because it would be wonderful to get some of these articles to a higher quality. The pages look good. I'll get back to you more in the next few days. hmwith 19:41, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Asmahan case postponed

The case was opened 16th September and since then, Arab Cowboy has made several posts and an article edit yesterday, I therefore request that the case continue without delay on the basis of the evidence presented so far.--Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 15:16, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That isn't really an option. We need all parties to be present for fairness. hmwith 22:36, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I've discussed this with other clerks, and you can continue with the case. The arbs will not make a decision, but the case can resume. hmwith 23:57, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
What I meant was that he has been active on wikipedia since the case was opened without answering, therefore it should continue. I have already made my case and I don't think I will ad anything for now, so I am only waiting for the arbs decision. If Arab Cowboy or someone else ads something to the case then I probably will reply to that, and I would like to have a couple days after they're posts so I can make a reply. --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 07:14, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I emailed him to make sure he'd receive the message, and he replied to my email rather than on his talk page. It wasn't on WP. I'm sorry for the confusion. hmwith 13:46, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Im talking about on wikiepdia, he has been active on wikipedia editing articles and posting since the case was opened the 16th, therefore it should continue without delay.--Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 16:14, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I hasn't been postponed, and it's continuing as normal. No worries, hmwith 19:42, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
