RE: comment on rfa[edit]

Hi Hdt83! Thanks a lot for taking valuable time out of your day to drop me a line! I did just notice that Crater Lake and Crater lake are completely different articles; who would have thought what a difference a lowercase letter makes? Maybe it's the perils of wiki-communication, but the impression I got from your answer was that you created the articles, or were a primary contributor. I was a bit saddened to see that you weren't.

Also, thanks for the link to your article creations; you've some nice stubs and some great photos! I'm still a bit unsure, as I think that your answer has the propensity to mislead people, but I'll definitely be sure to rethink my original comment. Thanks again for your comment! Cheers gaillimhConas tá tú? 05:58, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bill Dislay[edit]

I got to "Bill Dislay" at the same time as you - we had an edit conflict - and have upgraded it from a PROD to db-vandal. It's a straight cut and paste from "William Hogarth", and the perpetrator has done two other nonsense pages. If he'd taken the trouble to change all the names it would have been more puzzling, but it seemed unlikely that someone so illiterate as his other pages indicated could have done that one! Sorry about your RfA[edit]

I truly consider you trustworthy for the tools and I'm sorry the tide in the RfA didn't go strongly enough in your favour. Give it a month or two. I'll try to keep an eye out for you and see if there's any help or guidance I can give. Cheers, Pigmanwhat?/trail 06:11, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your RfA[edit]

First of all unlucky and I think some of the opposing rationale was dubious, though in the end all these opinions count. You put in your message on my page I will be sure to improve my editing skills ..... it was certainly not your editing skills that were called in to question. If you have an RfA within the next three months nominated or not I'm sure it will go the same way. With this in mind, if you keep editing in the same manner, or expand your expertise into other areas as well, in three months time, 5th February 2008, I will nominate you. I strongly suggest waiting, though I have supported on a couple of your previous RfA's, you need to assure your intentions to all the editors that opposed this time. All the best and I will be keeping an eye out. Regards Khukri 07:03, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please let me nom you next time! — H2O —  08:11, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, sorry about your RfA not passing. If Khukri and DHMO wish to nominate and co-nominate you next time, count me in as well as being a nominator for your next RfA. It's a shame that this current RfA didn't pass. Acalamari 18:10, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I said further up to give it a month or two but, on consideration, I think Khukri's suggestion of 3 months seems a better length. Unfortunately, I think your fairly rapid series of RfAs have made some people leery of your nom and need a little time to let it settle. Please note you already have three people volunteering here to nom you next time and I'm willing to throw my hat in as nom as well if necessary. Be of good cheer. Pigmanwhat?/trail 20:32, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'll nominate you as well, if you wish. That people oppose because you didn't heed their orders to not self-nom (when self-noms are encouraged in the instructions) is simply unbelievable. I'd be honored to put you up for the tools next time as well. K. Scott Bailey 05:41, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing to be ashamed of[edit]

And no major areas in which to approve. Of course, we can ALL improve as editors and contributors to the project, but the opposition to your RfA was generally quite weak, and I wouldn't have been surprised if the 'crats had passed it, even with just under 70% support. It's unfortunate that good editors like you are torpedoed by arbitrary constructs of what would make an editor a good administrator. Regards, K. Scott Bailey 12:29, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It won't change the result, but I've opened a thread on the bureaucrats' noticeboard regarding the closing of your RfA as unsuccessful. Newyorkbrad 13:23, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Even though I disagree with much of what the opposers said, it would do you well to consider the kernels of constructive criticism - there were some buried in there. We all can improve and I expect to see you at RfA again and support you again. Carlossuarez46 19:25, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry[edit]

I am sorry that you were not promoted to adminship. Learn from this Rfa, and try again in 6 or so more months. If you do this, and someone nominates you you should get promoted. You have the potential to be a good admin:) Cheers!--SJP 19:53, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:LynnwoodHS logo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:LynnwoodHS logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:52, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Trivium Vandalism" ???[edit]

I don't understand what you're talking about? Yes I have been on the page before but I haven't edited it. I don't even know the band, my father asked me to look them up. Plus I know my father too much he would be too confused to edit on Wikipedia. :D he's a bit too stupid for that haha. But there are many things that I have apparantly "edited" like - pity theyre sh*t. Ive never listened to the band! Maybe you have my I.P. Address mixed with another one.

That edit was back in April so I don't know who could have done it. Your IP address could probably be shared or something... --Hdt83 Chat 00:52, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How do you hide your ip address? Orphaned non-free media (Image:City-of-everett-logo-web.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:City-of-everett-logo-web.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 02:23, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Royaltrucklogo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Royaltrucklogo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Hi, I'm responding to an editprotected at Image talk:Stop x nuvola with clock.svg, an image which you uploaded. The description says that the image was derived from a PNG image (Image:Modern_clock_chris_kemps_01.png), which has an SVG version at Image:Modern_clock_chris_kemps_01.svg.
