Welcome!

Hello, Hakluyt bean, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!

I have noticed that many of your edits have been cricket-related. There is a Cricket WikiProject here which you may consider joining. Thanks GizzaChat © 22:45, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Hakluyt bean,

I saw that your page only had stuff so your name would be blue instead of red. That probably means you won't read this statement for a long time, if ever. Useight 00:13, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Timket/Timkat[edit]

1. Why do you feel the spelling "Timkat" is better than "Timket"? I have found no discussion about it, nor did you raise this issue on any of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Ethiopia pages.

2. It appears that you did not use the "Move this page" function", because the talk page for "Timket" did not get moved. This is important because it allows those of us in the Ethiopian WikiProject to monitor cahnges to this article. Thanks in advance for your responses. -- llywrch 01:50, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:The Cokey Cokey (Jimmy Kennedy).jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:The Cokey Cokey (Jimmy Kennedy).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 20:02, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The image doesn't need to be removed. You just need to fill in the fair-use rationale. Jooler 12:10, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

August 2012[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. I am glad to see that you are discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages such as Talk:Tom and Eileen Lonergan are for discussion related to improving the article, not general discussion about the topic. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. Thank you. A discussion is taking place as to whether the article David D. Cole is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The article Extempo Monarch has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability. An annually awarded title that hasn't been updated in 10+ years.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. MfD nomination of Talk:Merchant seaman[edit]

Talk:Merchant seaman, a page which you created or substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Talk:Merchant seaman and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Talk:Merchant seaman during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion.
