Lecanorchis tabugawaensis sources[edit]
Hi, I was alerted to your request for help finding sources and content for the Lecanorchis tabugawaensis article. Unfortunately, I think you have already found all the useful sources. For a newly described species, the main source will be the journal article where the description is published. You have that from Phytokeys. There may also be official press releases that use language more appropriate to a general audience and which may provide some additional context; you've found two press releases, one from the institution associated with the author (Kobe University), and one from the publisher (Pensoft/Eureka Alert). Any other sources that exist are likely to be just rephrasing information presented in the press releases and the original article. It can take years before any substantial new content is generated for a newly described species.
I see that in some places (e.g the Etymology and Conservation sections) you are quoting directly from one of the sources. Wikipedia can not quote directly from copyrighted sources. It appears that Phytokeys articles are published under a license that is compatible with Wikipedia's policy on copyrights, but it may still be a good idea to rephrase and avoid direct quotations.
Wikipedia:WikiProject Plants/Template provides some guidance about what information should appear in an article about a plant species. As the available information for this new species is limited, you won't be able to cover all the points in the template. However, I do see some things in the press releases and the Phytokeys article that aren't covered yet. You should add a brief explanation of mycoheterotrophy rather than just linking to it in "See also"; you could perhaps cite another source for this explanation. The Phytokeys article suggest that the orchid self-pollinates; that's worth mentioning. The Kobe University press release mentions logging as a potential threat, and there is mention that the orchid is known from two different locations. Description could be expanded; I know the language in the Phytokeys article is very technical (and shouldn't be copied verbatim), but there are some additional tidbits you could incorporate (e.g. flower color is "yellowish-white"), and it might be worth mentioning that it is similar to 'L. nigricans and L. taiwaniana (as well as how it differs from those species). There aren't very many sources, but there's more content you could add from the sources you have. Plantdrew (talk) 20:25, 28 November 2016 (UTC)
