Edits to the Manual of Style[edit]

I've reverted your edit to the Manual of Style page regarding possessive apostrophes. I see that you're having a dispute with another editor across a few pages regarding the correct form of such apostrophes. Editing the Manual of Style, without seeking consensus for the change on the appropriate talk pages, isn't a good idea. Some could see it as vandalism. There are various forums available on Wikipedia to get a third opinion in a dispute or get arbitration; those would be appropriate venues for you. See WP:Consensus, WP:POINT, and WP:DISPUTE; that'll help get you pointed in the right direction. // ⌘macwhiz (talk) 20:44, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please avoid personalizing the debate[edit]

I've largely stayed out of the style dispute you seem to be having with User:Hlj, but your tendency to narrow this discussion down to the two of you isn't helping to make your best case. The negative way you've characterized Hal as an opponent in talk discussions and in edit summaries doesn't tend to reflect well on you as a contributor. I think you've discovered that changing the MOS to suit your opinion isn't a workable approach. I suggest you follow the sage advise User:Macwhiz was attempting to impart in the post above, and visit the WP:Consensus, WP:POINT, and WP:DISPUTE links to find support for your style assertion. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
