Do not add the images back in. Even if the images are not deleted, Wikipedia:Non-free content explicitly states that they cannot be used that way. "Non-free content is used only in the article namespace; it is never used on templates (including stub templates and navigation boxes) or on user pages." 17Drew 14:59, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

The Slug Vomitting Curse
Personally, I believe that Eat Slugs is the incantation, but to prevent further frustration, might I suggest adding a note to the section and creating a debate on the talk page? As I mentioned, I am against this, so I won't do it myself, but it will make things much easier on you and help us all get our positions heard if you do these. I must say that I have to agree with Jonny2x4 regarding Banderstiz's contributions. Surely you've noticed that none of his articles have any outside sources whatsoever? On top of that, they all seem to link to each other, none of them ever really going anywhere. The mangas in the articles he creates are drawn by the people in the articles he creates. GC, I appreciate your concerns, and because anime/manga isn't my forté, I have to admit that the possibility of a hoax is real. That, however, isn't enough reason to abandon good faith and due process. Jonny may indeed be right about the articles being nonsense, but neither WP:AIV or speedy deletion is the proper way to address those concerns. The correct route to go here would be to add the {{unsourced}} or {{hoax}} tag to the articles in question instead of immediately insinuating that Banderstiz is committing vandalism. Thanks for being understanding. The warning template is probably a little too harsh; at Wikipedia, we have strict guidelines about what sorts of websites can and cannot have articles. When your site fits the notability guidelines, you're welcome to come back and create an article. In the meantime, why don't you move all this information to your user page? The edit number itself isn't really as importance as where those edits are. Vandal fighting is good (obviously) but article additions and cleanup are essential as well. Many will look at how many AfDs you have participated in as well as general policy discussions to ensure that you would use the tools correctly. IrishGuytalk 21:22, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

I understand. I have seen various RfAs succeed for different reasons and others fail for different reasons. I don't think there is an iron clad list of things you need to have acheived. Thanks for blocking that IP, but you should know that not a half hour after you blocked that one, an IP almost exactly the same (209.226.38.81) vandalized the same article in the exact same way as all the other three. I tried earlier to put up a short piece of information about the website booking.com, and it was swiftly deleted.
I was wondering why exactly this was, as it was a descriptive piece of writing, in no way advertising or promoting anything, and also wikipedia seems to have allowed other sites with very similar descriptions (such as Priceline and Expedia) to have pages on wikipedia.

The way that the article was written seemed to directly imply spam and blatant advertising as defined by Wikipedia's speedy deletion standards. We have articles on Expedia and Priceline because they are by far the largest sites of their type, so they have notability (another thing your article lacked), and are written with a neutral point of view. Yes, for test articles, use the Wikipedia sandbox, or create your own sandbox by clicking User:Samorro/Sandbox and then creating the page. Sandboxes are great for checking code and seeing how articles will look before you actually put them up. Here's the important part: whenever you're editing, if you want to see how something's going to look, you can hit the "Show preview" button right next to the "Save page" button. It'll show you how the page will look without actually saving your changes. Tell me if you have any more questions, okay? The last thing is, when you write on any talk pages, including another user's, put four tildes (~~~~) after your comment to include your name and the date. Happy editing! Thanks for deleting those pages. Looks like this is the second time the guy's tried to do this, should he get some sort of penalty? Thanks for the heads-up (it is all in a days work for an admin), and yes, he has created a sockpuppet, but did not use it, so no harm done...(see WP:SOCK), and no, there is no punishment for him to create articles about himslef; it is pure vanity with perhaps a little spammy intent. I would like to know why you reverted the change I made. I had just removed the Wizard of the Month section because I beleive it to be very plainly against WP:NB and/or WP:NOTE. These 'characters' are not even in the book series and have no dialouge in the books. If these charcters were taken out of JK Rowlings books (If actually in any of the books...) there would be no significant change to the books. If you look at a universal stand point, not just within the Harry Potter universe, you can see that these fictional characters are not near notable enough to have mention in this article in Wikipedia. I would argue that the Wizards of the Month section would actually fit in the article under criteria 5 of WP:NB: "The book's author is so historically significant that any of his or her written works may be considered notable, even in the absence of secondary sources." I would also argue the fact that there is in fact a secondary source (Rowling's website) makes it all the more worthy for inclusion. Another point I would like to make is that the article they are in (Minor Harry Potter characters) clearly states in the beginning statment that "The following are minor characters in the Harry Potter series written by J. I would argue that they are indeed minor characters in the series. I know that at least one has in fact been mentioned in the books as the inventor of the Cheering Charm, but the others would be considered "in-universe" as an official supplemental to the books as written by the author. Vanity Pictures
Had a question, was hoping you could help me out: Are pictures of onesself allowed on Wikipedia? I've seen lots of user pages where the users include pictures of themselves. A little digging through old image deletion archives (ex. 1 and 2) reveals mostly pictures deleted for vanity reasons also include disuse; however, according to WP:NOT#USER and WP:NOT#WEBSPACE, it seems to me that vanity is a good enough reason alone to delete pictures. Thoughts? Also, would you mind dropping me a line back on my talk page when you reply? We can have the whole conversation here again, but just let me know when you reply, if you wouldn't
Generally, uploaded pictures get deleted if they aren't being used in any articles...and vanity photos really wouldn't be used in articles. IrishGuytalk 21:58, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

WP:USERPAGE states: Some people add information about themselves as well, possibly including contact information (email, instant messaging, etc), a photograph, their real name, their location, information about their areas of expertise and interest, likes and dislikes, homepages, and so forth. so it isn't directly against policy and I have seen quite a few users add photos to their userpages. Apologies for not assuming good faith, I see now that you were not aware of the rules on canvassing. The reason I felt I had to make it clear was that I've seen AfDs skewed by canvassing before, on occasion only coming to light afterwards. It wasn't so much the wording you used (as the other editors opinions on the subject were already clear), it's more the fact that it could encourage "keepers" to !vote who might not otherwise have done so. I think that the first step is recruiting more members. I spent the past little bit checking out this list, seeing who was an active member and such. Now I'm going to check my list of active Wikipedians who like Redwall against the list of contributers and then send invitations to the remainders. Hello - I was just about to create David Latta (Alberta politician). However, I don't think he's the most prominent of the three, necessarily, so I didn't think he should get the David Latta page. So I went through all the pages that link to David Latta and disambiguated the links to David Latta (Alberta politician), David Latta (ice hockey), and David Latta (rugby player). From there I figured that the best way of ensuring that, when somebody gets around to creating articles on the other two, they create them in the same namespace that I disambiguated the links to was to create the disambiguation page. I'm not married to this solution, though, so I'd be happy to hear what you have to say. Sarcasticidealist 08:13, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Thankyou for your support. I hate WP:FICT as it currently stands - it's far too draconian. If it was interpreted word-for-word, the only articles left of the Wikiproject would be the books, the films, the three lead characters and one article about fandom. It's horrible!! To be perfectly honest, I'm not too familiar with the differences in the new FICT guidelines, aside from a larger focus on secondary sources. What's changed about them? GlassCobra 19:55, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
Essentially, primary sources (the books, in this case) are not given any authority at all for defining notability. What it means is that the article on Hermione Granger has to prove its notability in the same way as Cormac McLaggen, which is patently absurd. It also, by insisting on very high notability standards, raises the bar extremely high. I would expect that, by WP:FICT's definition, it's harder to get an article for the captain of a Quidditch team than it is for the captain of an Elephant polo team, despite many more people knowing about Quidditch than Elephant Polo! I had to invoke Wikipedia:Ignore All Rules not long ago against someone who was being totally literal about WP:FICT. It did the job tho: 17 keeps against 1 delete during the last three days of the AfD!! Happy-melon 20:07, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Your article has been tagged for deletion because it fails Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Also, parts of the article (particularly the first sentence) are not written from a neutral point of view, one of our central tenets. GlassCobra 08:48, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

To be honest, images are not what the article needs yet. First you need to verify its notability. Please read the documents that I linked you to, and make changes accordingly. Sure thing. In this case, if you have two versions of the same article, remove all the content from the version of the article that you want deleted, and replace it with {{db-author}}, which generates a speedy deletion notice signifying that the author wants the page deleted. In the future, if you have an article that you want to retitle, click the "move" tab up on the top and enter the name that you would like the article to be moved to. Just make sure the destination is empty before you try to move it. Click here for more detailed instructions on moving pages. I have commented at their talkpage that I will be deleting it unless moved quickly, and requested that the article be removed from the Admin Cat (I don't edit categories).
