Disinterested Wikipedians[edit]

Yeah, i've found that too. I'd estimate the median edit total per the nearly 900,000 Wikipedians now is around 10 or so. The key to getting hooked to this place is finding a niche, as you have with Warhammer. Karmafist 19:25, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, what would you like to know? Some things you can do to help are:

  • Tagging novel articles by putting {{NovelsWikiProject}} on their talk pages
  • Adding the infobox to novel articles (as long as you have the correct information to fill out the infobox)
  • Writing or editing articles on novels you've read, making sure to cite sources for things like literary analysis (symbolism, themes, etc.)

Let me know if you have any other questions. | Klaw ¡digame! 18:22, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I either omit the "binding" field or I use the binding of the edition that I used for the page count. It's not really critical, since most novels are available in hardcover and paperback. | Klaw ¡digame! 19:22, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
My pleasure. Let me know if any other questions arise. And thanks for joining the project! | Klaw ¡digame! 22:14, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for helping out with this novel and adding the infobox, added a few things myself. Please note the talk page proposals I have for this one and Left Behind relating to article splits. Any questions just ask. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page) 16:14, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ware tetralogy[edit]

More helpful than any kind of tag would be specific suggestions on the talk page of how the article could be improved. I may or may not agree with you about what still needs to be done. Nareek 06:23, 6 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It definitely is uneven--I've been re-reading the books for purposes of Wikifying, and I've gotten through the first three so far, though I've only written up two. Part of what impelled me to do this was my sense that the description of the last book--which I believe I haven't changed yet--was just wrong, the idea that the religious and anti-drug themes in that book came out of the blue, when they're really present from the beginning. I'm interested in any guidance, even if it's just "this part seems a bit much." Nareek 18:25, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Categories[edit]

Hi, I noticed the categories you added to Battlefield Earth. You may want to read WP:CLS, which describes how to best apply category tags: it isn't necessary to add a tag for a category if the article is already in a sub-category of that category; for instance, since BE is already in Category:Science fiction novels, there's no need to place it in Category:Speculative fiction novels. There are some exceptions, but I don't think there are any that apply in this particular case. -- Antaeus Feldspar 18:37, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Syracuse as a convention center[edit]

Ah, OK, I hadn't thought of that way of reading it. I may try to come up with some other way of phrasing it, though, so someone else doesn't trip over it as I did. Thanks for the explanation. -- Mwanner | Talk 21:05, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Regarding the Vanilla Sky poster on Syracuse, New York - I'm afraid that fair use is conditional. The tag says posters qualify as fair use "to illustrate the movie in question or to provide critical analysis of the poster content or artwork... Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement." This clearly excludes the Syracuse article. Technically, the poster shouldn't be on the Tom Cruise page either. The JPS 12:34, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Mists of Avalon[edit]

Hi. I copied and pasted the info from my user page onto the Mists of Avalon page since I didn't want to move the user page. I removed the cats. if that's what the problem was and I'll get around to deleting the page someday. Stoa 05:28, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not that difficult, just creating a subpage and cutting and pasting into it, no sweat.:: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 12:43, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is never going to be a "Right" answer to this one. I would enter it in using the English name with the details of the "first" edition and also give the details of the language as German as that was the source language regardless of whether it was published in that language, first or later or at all. Does that cover all the bases. Thanks for you input on the Novels articles by the way much appreciated. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 07:36, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gizzakk, seeing that you contributed to this list before... I am dropping you this note today to let you know that the book stubs -> novel stubs autolist has been updated today. Currently there are 37 items on this list that need to be sorted through. This is far less than the original list size.Eagle talk 04:09, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Novels infobox missing list[edit]

Ok, I will repoupulate within 10 hours of this post. Note, currently I am the only person able to populate these lists. (They are done through a program that I wrote) Thanks for telling me. Eagle talk 21:51, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

List is repopulated with 4 categories... more to come[edit]

As the title says... thanks for telling me the list was empty :) Eagle talk 22:21, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reporting this to me instantly. The criteria for this list is very simple, and as a result I expect 100% accuracy. Just so you know, the problem comes down to a simple capitalization mistake. To see click on the link to the problem article and look for the infobox book template. The 'I' is lowercase, I assumed all infoboxes had to have uppercase first letters... apparently I was wrong :) This error is fixed and should not appear agian.

Agian thanks for pointing out this error quickly.–Eagle talk 01:34, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wow you respond quickly! Thanks for putting effort into this list :) Eagle talk 01:39, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

novels[edit]

Thanks for the links, but should I specify the first edition ISBN and page numbers and cover pictures in the article? I've done a bunch of infoboxes (my main goal; how useless), but I'm still not sure about a few things like that. LittleDantalk 04:10, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pelagiya[edit]

I was wondering why you removed the NovelsWikiProject template from Talk:Pelagiya. The scope of the project is all novels and fictional characters appearing in those novels. Errabee 13:44, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your articles[edit]

Hi, I just thought I'd leave you a note back. You can feel confident I'm not just following you around -- I happened to hit a couple of your articles because I've been patrolling new articles. I honestly don't really consider who creates the articles -- I just give them a quick scan and try to note obvious issues. Good luck with what appears from your list of recent contributions to be a large number of weapons articles. Erechtheus 03:16, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity[edit]

Hello! There is currently a request for approval of a bot to manage the AutoWikiBrowser CheckPage by removing inactive users, among other tasks. You are being contacted because you may qualify as an inactive user of AWB. First, if you have any input on the proposed bot task, please feel free to comment at the BRFA. Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. This is purely for routine maintenance of the CheckPage, and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You will be able regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 23:36, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Warhammer Fantasy Dogs of War requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
