Cape Ann Earthquake[edit]

Hi,

It has become the normal practice to go with (year) (place) earthquake for most of the earthquake articles, but it's not a hard and fast rule. It does help people searching for an earthquake in a particular year, even if they only know one of the affected places and possibly not the one used in the title. However, we're not completely consistent so no problem either way IMO. Mikenorton (talk) 21:29, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

N.B. 1755 Cape Ann Earthquake already exists as a redirect. Mikenorton (talk) 21:33, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
But you had already worked that out. As to GAN, people seem to want an image other than a map from my limited experience. I wonder what the copyright is on that woodcut used on the USGS page? I'll have another look through the article, but nothing stood out. Mikenorton (talk) 21:45, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Earthquake articles[edit]

Looks like you're starting on the Historical earthquakes list from the top, while I'm working my way up from the bottom. Thanks for sharing the author credit for the 464 BC Sparta earthquake article, I'm not sure I deserve it, but thanks anyway. I'd be happy to collaborate on any further articles, I'm not too busy right now although that can always change. Cheers, Mikenorton (talk) 22:43, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DFT update...[edit]

Wikipedia:Goings-on and Template:Announcements/New featured content need updating too when you promote lists. Good luck, well done, and carry on... ! The Rambling Man (talk) 19:55, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, you're doing it. Nice! The Rambling Man (talk) 19:57, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, Gimmebot will do that but not until Saturday, hence the warning about closing stuff just after the standard bot runs. But as long as you add the tag about it being closed, all good. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:01, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Just add it to the FLC page. Hopefully it then alerts commentators that the list is being promoted. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:11, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop closing Featured list candidates[edit]

As the headers says, please stop this. The directors are supposed to do this job, not anybody who feels like it. I appreciate that you want to help, but please let us handle it. iMatthew talk at 20:30, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I didn't see TRM's above comments. Well, I disagree with having others close it, but I'll discuss it with TRM. iMatthew talk at 20:32, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Relax everyone. iMatthew has been busy lately, I've removed myself and Dabomb87 is busier than a busy thing. So carry on, don't do anything crazy, and perhaps the system will survive.... The Rambling Man (talk) 20:41, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I will definitely close this weekend, though. Dabomb87 (talk) 12:35, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Gerald,

I see that the DYK hook for the above article is stuck at the bottom. I find that you did some editing. After that I also did some more minor editing. Pl let me know if there are any more issues to be addressed to make the two artciles linked with one hook acceptable?Thank you.--Nvvchar (talk) 13:48, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the prompt reply. Probably there is a misunderstanding of the article, since I do not see any change to the Hook proposed by me. This hook is of 19th October for two articles. You are welcome to suggest any changes in the hook and also the contents of the two articles.--Nvvchar (talk) 14:30, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the review. You are right. Probably the use of the word 'precincts' gives the impression that it is within the fort. It may not be so, since references do not suggest it. The Church is on the Angedip Island and hence a slight change of the word 'precinct' to "in the vicinity" would make it more appropriate, if you agree. You could make the change as a reviwer on the basis of this clarification or if you want me to make the change, I will do it. Any way in the article I am changing it to 'in the vicinity'. Please clarify.--Nvvchar (talk) 04:52, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
