The reason I am no longer active is illustrated below. Several days of research and hard work resulted in two overkeen editors deciding that badges, historical information and quotes from cited publications - all concerning the regimental history of two cavalry regiments, breached copyright. No attempt was made to discuss the deletions with me or ask if I could get written permission from the Regimental Associations concerned - which I can, easily. In the face of such sanctimonious behaviour I can only conclude that the lunatics are running the asylum.
In addition, despite a post to the arbitration enforcement noticeboard, no attempt was made to address issues about other editors assuming ownership of articles concerning the Northern Ireland Troubles.
I advise other well-meaning internet users to be aware of the pitfalls of trying to help Wikipedia.

Hi GDD. I've removed your edits on 4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards for the following reasons. First off, and more imporatntly, while we like to see information added, due to copyright problems, we cannot turn our page into a psuedo-mirror of their page. See WP:COPYVIO for information on how to do it. Also, the site does not comply under our Reliable Source policy... Please make sure you're aware of Wikipedia policies before you get yourself in trouble.. we like keeping our new editors (especially those willing to contribute to the encyclopedia) around! - In answer to that I would have to say two things: Firstly the work wasn't complete, lots of editing was still to be done. Secondly you've removed the military info panel where there were no problems with copyright? In fact now that I think of it, you've removed a lot of things which copyright doesn't apply to. - I've removed the copyright-violating segments of 9th Queen's Royal Lancers, which was sadly nearly the whole article. Please note that while adding information is good, simply referencing someone else's content isn't grounds for duplicating it here. As the edit-box says below the summary, "Do not copy text from other websites without a GFDL-compatible license. It will be deleted." Furthermore, permission for the use of copyright material on this and the 4th Dragoons item could easily have been obtained. Sorry I have only just noticed you have departed, I have been busy with another editor and real live stuff. It is a shame to see you go, true content builders are what is needed around here. Whilst I can understand your frustration at the reversions, Wikipedia really cannot accept copyrighted text due to the legal implications. Acquiring the permission to use it only on Wikipedia is not enough, it has to be released under the GFDL. It is easier, and generally better, if it is written in your own words. User group for Military Historians[edit]

"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. April 2021 WikiProject Military History Reviewing Drive[edit]
Hey y'all, the April 2021 WikiProject Military History Reviewing Drive begins at 00:01 UTC on April 1, 2021 and runs through 23:59 UTC on April 31, 2021. Points can be earned through reviewing articles on the AutoCheck report, reviewing articles listed at WP:MILHIST/ASSESS, reviewing MILHIST-tagged articles at WP:GAN or WP:FAC, and reviewing articles submitted at WP:MILHIST/ACR. Service awards and barnstars are given for set points thresholds, and the top three finishers will receive further awards. To participate, sign up at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Military_History/April 2021 Reviewing Drive#Participants and create a worklist at Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/April 2021 Reviewing Drive/Worklists (examples are given). However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
