List of castles in Estonia article changes

Hi, I saw that you changed the list of castles in Estonia article just before I did, I added some features like pictures; I hope you think it looks ok? In the talk page there I described what I did. Also, big thanks for moving some of the castle articles into the right place - I couldn't figure out how to go about it. Cheers. -Yakikaki (talk) 20:10, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

Re: example Muna, Yucatán: It is essential to NEVER "copy and paste" existing articles with multiple authors from one title to another! Doing so destroys article history, and creates a license violation. If an article title needs to be renamed, instead use the easy and handy "move article" feature. See Help:Moving a page for details. I have fixed Muna, Yucatán for you. If you have messed up any other articles in a similar way, please fix them. If you need assistance in fixes, feel free to ask, thanks. Cheers, Infrogmation (talk) 05:21, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. I'll try to keep that in mind. I guess previously I hadn't really thought about the negative effects I'm, causing during the copying thing. Flying Saucer (talk) 11:21, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Estonian

Hi. Thanks for improving Tallinn Botanic Garden after my attempt at translating et:Tallinna Botaanikaaed :) - Do you speak Estonian? If so, I would be grateful if you could copyedit Ülle Kukk as well and check that I have not misinterpreted et:Ülle Kukk. If not, thanks anyway. KenBailey (talk) 20:40, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi there! I do understand Estonian. Thanks for asking help. I corrected some main mistakes in the article (Ülle Kukk) but I still think it needs a lot of improving. But anyway, You're always welcome! Flying Saucer (talk) 00:48, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
Well you certainly saved me some embarrassment there! Thank you. That is much better. For the record, I am normally capable of detecting the difference between male and female! :) In my defence, the original article identified Ülle as male, as did Google, and, from what I could see, Ülle is a name used for either sex. I guess if I had followed the hint on et:Ülle Kukk that Ülle is married to et:Erich Kukk I would have spotted the error. It would be good to create Erich Kukk on the English wikipedia too. There would be plenty to say [1]. I was hesitant to migrate that section from et:Ülle Kukk as I did have some doubts and the Estonian articles lack references too. Your other edits are a big improvement too. Suur aitäh :) KenBailey (talk) 08:35, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
You're welcome! But I'm quite certain that Ülle is never used as a male name. Anyway, if you need further help, don't hesitate to ask! Flying Saucer (talk) 11:56, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi again! I've made a start on Erich Kukk now. If you have time to check it I would be grateful. Thanks! Do you know if there is a family link with Henn Kukk as well? KenBailey (talk) 01:05, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Assessing

What do you think about Estonia at the 1928 Summer Olympics and Estonia at the 1992 Summer Paralympics, stub or start class? Pelmeen10 (talk) 20:16, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

I'd say they're start. Flying Saucer (talk) 22:22, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

Estonian surnames

What can you say about Category:Estonian-language surnames, some of them are marked as stubs. Is it correct? Pelmeen10 (talk) 18:42, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

I think there's not much text to write about those surnames so the stub-marking is unnecessary, probably the {{surname}} would do enough, but I guess users involved in the WP Anthroponymy know those things a bit better. Flying Saucer (talk) 18:53, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
We've been tagging the talk pages as disambig. But on the main page as stubs. Are they not disambig to WP Estonia? Pelmeen10 (talk) 19:18, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
I think they should be disambig in WP Estonia scope if they're just small lists with people bearing the same surname. If anyone would write a bit larger article about the name it would change the thing. Flying Saucer (talk) 19:33, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

Kakuna

Hi, can you re-create Kakuna somewhere else like Kakuna (viliage) or Kakuna (Estonia)? A very large majority of the people visiting this page will be looking for the Pokemon, not the village in some random place nobody has ever heard of. No offence. Since you only made 2 edits to the page, it shouldn't be much off a problem, history wise. Just re-link some things to the new location, and I will put a link to the new location on Weedle, Kakuna, and Beedrill, where Kakuna should redirect to. Thanks, Blake (Talk·Edits) 19:29, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for noticing. I redirected the page. But since there was already a hatnote {{Redirect}} and I couldn't find a suitable one I used a temorary text messaege, is it OK? Flying Saucer (talk) 22:38, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
I found that {{redirect2|Weedle|Kakuna|the Seattle mascot|Wheedle|the village in Estonia|Kakuna, Estonia}} provides the same exact results. Blake (Talk·Edits) 23:18, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
That's a good find. Thank You. Flying Saucer (talk) 01:16, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Albanian Ambassador to Estonia

Hello Flying Saucer. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Albanian Ambassador to Estonia, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: http://www.vm.ee/?q=en/node/9382. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 04:38, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

Estonian semioticians

May I ask you why you depopulated this category? It seems like a useful category to me, given that Estonia has a particularly fruitful tradition of semiotics.·ʍaunus·snunɐw· 23:10, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

Well yeah there were 6 Estonian semiotician in the category. But it kinda seems weird to categorize semioticians under their nations if there's so little names in the category. Other option would be to create the categories for the most represented nationalities here. Maybe I made a mistake here. Flying Saucer (talk) 23:32, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
Food for thought: John Deely is predicting that the University of Tartu will become the center of semiotics research during the 21st century. BTW Estonian wikipedia already lists 32 Estonian semioticians. Notability? — John Harvey, Wizened Web Wizard Wannabe, Talk to me! 17:43, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:FK Qäbälä.png)

Thanks for uploading File:FK Qäbälä.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:04, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

Hand-coding

Hey all :).

I'm dropping you a note because you've been involved in dealing with feedback from the Article Feedback Tool. To get a better handle on the overall quality of comments now that the tool has become a more established part of the reader experience, we're undertaking a round of hand coding - basically, taking a sample of feedback and marking each piece as inappropriate, helpful, so on - and would like anyone interested in improving the tool to participate :).

You can code as many or as few pieces of feedback as you want: this page should explain how to use the system, and there is a demo here. Once you're comfortable with the task, just drop me an email at okeyes@wikimedia.org and I'll set you up with an account :).

If you'd like to chat with us about the research, or want live tutoring on the software, there will be an office hours session on Monday 17 December at 23:00 UTC in #wikimedia-office connect. Hope to see some of you there! Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 22:56, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
