Kansas City/City of Kansas[edit]

Hey there, just wanted to better explain why I reverted your edit. When the city was first incorporated, it did so under the name Kansas. If I recall correctly, it wasn't till quite a bit later that it became Kansas City (don't remember if this was before or after the State of Kansas joined the union or not...) Anyways, it looks like you caught the tail end of two edits by 68.102.2.92, the first of which where he turned "the City of Kansas" to "The City of Kansas City", in what I assume to be an attempt to remedy a perceived typo. Afterwards, he realized his mistake, and reverted it... I'm guessing you saw this last edit and acted upon that one, no? --Reverend Loki 23:01, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

userbox[edit]

Hello, can you please tell me why (on my talk page) you removed one of the pictures from my userboxes? Also, what does "fair use of image correction" mean. Thank You--eskimospy(talk) 15:51, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, according to the fair-use policy (#9), images which are used on Wikipedia under fair-use may only be used in the articlespace, not the user- or template-space. I recommend reading User:Durin/Removal of fair use images as well. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 16:14, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re:bot[edit]

I use the pywikimedia bot, you can download pywikimedia here, after you must create a file called user-config.py in the same directory with this words

mylang = 'ent'
family = 'wikipedia'
usernames['wikipedia']['en'] = 'BotName'
console_encoding = 'utf-8'

but, you can find some giude in Meta :) --dario vet (talk) 10:09, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I just deleted the article, mostly due to the fact that it was an article about website that had no claims of fame in it. Frankly, it's not exactly a good idea to make a separate article for each website unless they really are famous; if you think this rather minor-sounding spoof would be lost in Google article, perhaps it'd be best not to mention it at all. =) Anyway, happy editing nevertheless. --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 17:20, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Honor → Honour[edit]

As much as I dislike American spelling, is there any reason for these changes ? -- Nick t 17:38, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If I made a mistake please change it, I am not sure which article you are talking about, I have changed many articles from honor to honour in the past hour, I try to check and make sure what I edit the article to is correct. However, I don't check very thouroughly and if you think I made a mistake, you are probably right. --eskimospy(talk) 17:43, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
"thouroughly"?--John Foxe 18:03, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Please check out Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#National_varieties_of_English to see the guidelines for spelling here. In short, if an article was originally written with American English spelling and uses that type of spelling throughout an article, then it should stay that way. Likewise, if the subject of an article revolves around a particular culture or place (such as the American Civil War) you should use that country's English spellings. Hope this helps. Best,--Alabamaboy 18:04, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style#National varieties of English "Articles that focus on a topic specific to a particular English-speaking country should generally conform to the usage and spelling of that country". B-29 Superfortress, B-52 aircraft crash at Fairchild Air Force Base, B-52 Stratofortress trivia and [[]] are clearly topics about US aircraft, and the US spelling should be used. Please stop doing this, it is not honorable. --rogerd 18:08, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ditto on A. Leon Higginbotham, an American judge, hence, American English. Thanks, JCO312 18:13, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I stopped a while ago so you don't need to leave anything else, I stopped using the bot, I guess I am not allowed to and it was my first bot so it was kind of crappy. --eskimospy(talk) 18:19, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at your contributions, you didn't stop until you were threatened with a block. —Centrxtalk • 18:20, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Qform, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from an implausible typo. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Gtg204y 14:17, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to delete it, it's fine with me.--eskimospy(talk) 14:19, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator[edit]

Thank you for nominating me; I am presently researching to prepare for the questionnaire. TerriersFan 23:57, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the form is now completed. TerriersFan 03:48, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. Regarding your tagging of Morgan Wootten for speedy deletion, keep in mind that A7 only applies to articles that fail to assert notability. Wootten, as someone who's in the Basketball Hall of Fame (as it stated in the article at the time of your tagging), certainly asserts notability, and I'm somewhat puzzled as to why someone in the HoF would qualify anyway. So please be aware of your tagging in the future. Thanks! --badlydrawnjeff talk 02:21, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

--Do you think a high school basketball coach is really so important that we need an article about him?--eskimospy(talk) 02:27, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed the AfD for you. I do suggest withdrawing it once you're convinced that this perosn is notable. --badlydrawnjeff talk 02:50, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes for this Hall of Fame high school coach. MDfoo 02:38, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I join in suggesting that you withdraw this AfD. Newyorkbrad 02:50, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I strongly disagree with this article, but I seem to be strongly out numbered and I don't want to seem like a mean person so I am going to remove the Afd. :)--eskimospy(talk) 03:44, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I guess someone just did that for me.--eskimospy(talk) 03:47, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ruble[edit]

Yes, I did take that image myself. Don't think I have that coin anymore, though, to prove it. :))) If you pay attention to the URL of the image that appears at about.com, it seems that it was copied from Wikipedia, not vice versa! Paranoid 18:56, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
