To communicate with Erik... is to be alive.

Well, okay, that's not exactly subtle. Okay, so I don't have much of a talk-page policy, just a preference with talking style; If I leave a message on your talk page, you can either reply there or on here. When you leave a message on this page, though, I'll respond on this page instead of going to your talk page.

And also, with nomenclature; "Erik the Appreciator" is my user name to keep in character on the site, but you can just call me Erik (Jensen) wherever I show up.

Another thing: Nowadays, compared to the past, I hardly edit Wikipedia at all, instead spending time on two other Wikia wikis. However, unless I say otherwise right here, I always check Wikipedia on a day-to-day basis while logged in. Which means that right now you can safely expect me to respond to talk page posts here quickly. ;)

Alrighty then, the space below is open up to any and all posts regarding my Wikipedia edits. Just keep it relevant! Erik Jensen (Appreciate|Laugh At)

Re: List of characters in Golden Sun[edit]

Thanks for the reply. I used "list of" in parallel to a few other series' character articles with "list" in their titles, namely Knights of the Old Republic, Fire Emblem, FEAR, Psychonauts, and whatnot. Admittedly, I hadn't looked at the Final Fantasy character articles and had assumed that this was the standard for naming these types of articles.—Theodorel 07:17, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your tireless work de-fluffing this article! --haha169 (talk) 05:03, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The defluffery of those sections were certainly harder than you'd think, as it was pretty much completely rewriting them all to be shorter. ;) Erik Jensen (Appreciate or Laugh At) 06:18, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:GoldenSunFinale.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:GoldenSunFinale.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:18, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My removing that image was intentional because it's part of a Featured Article effort... It's just so hard for me to remember-do the research for what syntax I use to prod those image pages, sometimes. Erik Jensen (Appreciate or Laugh At) 16:50, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Apparently the syntax is {{di-orphaned fair use|date=September 9 2007}}. Erik Jensen (Appreciate or Laugh At) 16:54, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
...You do realize that you're talking to a bot, right? The world's hungriest paperweight 17:21, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely. My style is that whenever I get a bot notice I either remove it or make an educational comment for everyone to read. It's not addressed to the bot. ;) Erik Jensen (Appreciate or Laugh At) 05:46, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Just so long as you know. The world's hungriest paperweight 15:56, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What's with all of the anti-machinist sentiment? Bots are people too! :) You Can't Review Me!!! 03:28, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Er, no? Bots are self-running programs that only react based on fulfilled conditions anywhere and everywhere on Wiki. They are not people; the only way they could be "people" is that they are created and maintained by users. :/ Erik Jensen (Appreciate or Laugh At) 17:59, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What about R2-D2 and C-3P0? Oh, wait, wrong type of "bot"... ;P The world's hungriest paperweight 19:56, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Leave it to Erik to mercilessly crush and maim my joke. ;_; You Can't Review Me!!! 20:31, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If only all bots had the runtime of this fellow, Erik wouldn't have to deal with their constant legalistic nagging. Nintenboy01 18:25, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Or at least until the bots beat the game. Then they get infinite battery life just like Chibi. That would probably make them even more annoying. The world's hungriest paperweight 19:16, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It almost seems like every user on Wikipedia who's done imagework is getting loads of bot messages like that now that there's tangible fair-use-purging campaigns in effect. I've seen some users whose entire talk pages consist of bot image messages. Those last two messages I got were for images I don't necessarily care about nowadays... Erik Jensen (Appreciate or Laugh At) 18:46, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY THAT ALL BOTS ARE PRUDE LOSERS. Nintenboy01 00:11, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Smash Wiki Troubles[edit]

Poor Smashwiki! I've been trying and trying to access it today but it keeps giving me an SQL error and other bugs. I think their server must really be conking out. I was anxious to check if Lyn was already mentioned on there... Do you know of any legit way to donate a little moolah to them? I don't want that site to crash and burn... Nintenboy01 20:22, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It had been about three days since it started doing that, but just now I went on there and the problem seems to have been alleviated. I'm not sure if monetary donations would've helped that specific issue... Erik Jensen (Appreciate or Laugh At) 06:05, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If only we still had keepers...[edit]

I found a rather...interesting edit the other day. I never got to see your keepers page, but this probably would have been good for it. At the very least I thought it was amusing. Here's another one. Do you think he likes moles? The world's hungriest paperweight 23:08, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, there seems to be an affinity to moles exhibited by the user in that editor, but that's just my interpretation of the work. Erik Jensen (Appreciate or Laugh At) 05:58, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hehe... I fear that this will be Speedied before you get to see it, but this is a prime example of Wikidenial. Apparently, this user thought that the user warnings I placed on his page were messages from the gods of Wikipedia (or perhaps, the supreme god, Wikipedia itself) and decided to make a page entitled "Shut the hell up wikipedia," with the following sentence of content: Shut up okay wikipedia? Its dec 3rd and u know it so shut the hell up okay? I'm a bit sad about the date being changed to "TBD" as well, but... You Can't See Me! 02:18, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Aww. I wanted to see it for myself, but it's already gone. Oh, and for passer-bys: this is referring to the release date of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It was December 3rd for quite a while, but now it may wind up being delayed, hence TBD (to be determined). Hmm, Wikipedian gods... The world's hungriest paperweight 04:40, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
THE HORROR! I just hope Mario Galaxy doesn't suddenly get delayed too. And hopefully Robotnik, Tails and Ridley will be in Brawl as well... That'll help make a delay easier to stomach. Nintenboy01 18:12, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It'll probably be delayed until early 2008, which is what one source puts the Japanese release date at apparently... I can imagine a lot of people's christmases being ruined over that, but I don't mind it that much because I know that the developers' taking THAT much of a schedule alteration will ensure a quality product. That's what ultimately counts. Erik Jensen (Appreciate or Laugh At) 18:38, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Gah, it's been pushed back to February for the US! Oh well, as long as they take the time to add new content and iron out the bugs IGN mentioned, I'll be satisfied... Nintenboy01 19:57, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Erik's Other Job[edit]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:GoldenSunMtAleph.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:GoldenSunMtAleph.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 00:34, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Golden Sun Userboxes[edit]

Hi Erik! I've had a makeshift Jupiter Adept userbox on my hidden page for quite some time. I didn't think of making it into an actual userbox until now, though, so earlier today, I added four GS userboxes to my userspace. You're the only user I know from the Golden Sun project, so I thought maybe you might want one. Perhaps you know of others who might want one. Have a look:

This user is a Venus Adept.
This user is a Mars Adept.
This user is a Jupiter Adept.
This user is a Mercury Adept.

{{User:You Can't See Me!/Venus}}
{{User:You Can't See Me!/Mars}}
{{User:You Can't See Me!/Jupiter}}
{{User:You Can't See Me!/Mercury}}

Regards, You Can't See Me! 00:36, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting! But "Golden Sun project"? I doubt there's an actual Wikiproject dedicated to Golden Sun on Wikipedia. (That's how the way you worded it implied ;) ) And the userboxes are appreciated of course. Erik Jensen (Appreciate or Laugh At) 07:40, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There isn't a GS Wikiproject? Okay, nevermind. Eh heh... ^_^'
Anyways, enjoy! You Can't See Me! 04:15, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No More D.E.[edit]

Looks like ol' DisgruntledEditor was blocked forevermore due to his vandalism on Pope Benedict's article, where he said he looked like Uncle Fester. Eh, that was probably too sensitive to put in Keepers if it still existed anyway... Nintenboy01 14:43, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar time![edit]

The Original Barnstar
For your immense help in getting Golden Sun up to GA and then FA. Now The Lost Age calls... :) David Fuchs (talk) 00:04, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It made it!? WOW!!! I'm tempted to say that's even better than the barnstar. :D TLA will be a pleasure, then. I will need to give the whole page another massive rewrite to model it after the Golden Sun FA, so no need to bother editing the current version until then. Erik Jensen (Appreciate or Laugh At) 05:58, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

FE Piccies[edit]

Heya Erik, I found this cute image of Beeze, the only playable female Raven in Radiant Dawn. Think it qualifies for fair usage on Wikipedia? Not even the Fire Emblem Wiki has this pic. Can't wait for this game though, and along with Mario Galaxy it'll help tide me over until Brawl comes out in February...(an ETERNITY in gaming time) Nintenboy01 16:48, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I figure anything fair-use is frowned upon on Wikipedia and everyone else would say don't use fair-use if you can at all avoid it... Strict rules to be sure. These rules are majorly lightened up at separate wikis, however - any relevant image is pretty much fair game in a wiki like one about Fire Emblem (didn't know there was a FE Wiki!). It should have been up at the FE wiki already. ;) Erik Jensen (Appreciate or Laugh At) 17:08, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There appear to be Wikis for just about everything nowadays, even for Golden Sun (Whoever starts them up must be really devoted fans). I got some great animated GIFs from Wikitroid, like this one. Due to the heavy revert warring and legalism on Wikipedia, especially for the Brawl article, I prefer to just sit back and watch people argue while here and devote my editing time to focused Wikis. Nintenboy01 20:50, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You kidding for "even for Golden Sun"? Golden Sun Universe and SmaskWiki are where I put most of my editing work into nowadays. Apparently I do so much editing over at Golden Sun Wikia that someone once thought I was the wiki's creator. [1] ;D Erik Jensen (Appreciate or Laugh At) 21:56, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hehe, I bet even that site's founder never dreamed he would get a regular contributor with such passion for the GS games (though they really are good titles). I was just a little surprised someone devoted an entire Wikia to Golden Sun since there are only two games in the series so far. However, since a new FE game is coming to DS I think there's hope for a new Golden Sun too. Nintenboy01 15:47, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Especially given this interview from last week. I'd say that there is hope! You Can't See Me! 00:42, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Radiant Dawn is Out[edit]

Ah, finally Radiant Dawn is out! I worked hard to build a good team in Path of Radiance so I can transfer their stats over. Once you've beaten the game and gotten over the spoilers, could you take a look at the article on Wiki? It could use some work and I know you have the "magic touch". Thanks. I'll try and clean it up a bit too once I've played thru the game myself. Nintenboy01 14:53, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's out already? Still got Metroid Prime 3 to beat... But yeah, I think of my self as an editor who works by request. ^_^ Erik Jensen (Appreciate or Laugh At) 22:19, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you were able to beat Echoes, you shouldn't have much trouble with Corruption as it really is a bit shorter and easier. Also it looks like many other users have already made adjustments to the Dawn article though. Once I finish the game I'll check ito ut again. Nintenboy01 16:30, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I got my own copy of Radiant Dawn just a couple of days ago. Quite good so far, and definitely tougher than PoR (By the way if you plan to upload your PoR Epilogue data, make sure you have no Easy-mode files or it'll freeze!) Once I'm done I'll flesh out the character list info a bit more, although some other folks have already added some good stuff. Nintenboy01 (talk) 18:16, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree on all those. :) When and how would one upload Epilogue data, though? I haven't seen that option presented. Now, my FE memory card hasn't been put into the Wii yet, but that's probably a good thing because there's three save files on there, one per difficulty. O_O Anyway, the Radiant Dawn article seems it'll be in good shape even without my investigating... Erik Jensen (Appreciate or Laugh At) 22:29, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There should be a File Upload option somewhere in the game's menus. I had one Normal and one Hard epilogue file, and the data uploaded without problems. If it's not too critical you could probably just delete the Easy mode file. 90% of people who tried uploading an easy file suffered from the glitch, it seems. The benefits you get will be a +2 stat bonus for every stat that a Level 20 unit in PoR maxed out, and support conversations will be transferred over and can be viewed anytime (some of them, like Ike and Soren's A support, will even affect RD's ending.) Nintenboy01 (talk) 15:52, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting; and here I thought data transfer would make characters maxed out and it would be practically cheating... Thanks for the insight. Erik Jensen (Appreciate or Laugh At) 18:37, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Has been nominated for FA status here. Just thought I'd let you know as you were the original creator the article. Regards, Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 05:43, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cool! Thanks for that. Erik Jensen (Appreciate or Laugh At) 18:37, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vertical Lines in Metroid Prime 3?[edit]

Hey Erik, I've been meaning to ask you... If you go up close to a solid wall texture in MP3 (especially if it's greyish or brownish) do you notice some faint vertical lines on the screen? It's kinda similar to the problem with Zelda Wind Waker, but I wanted to check if other players have the same issue. I hope it's normal and my Wii isn't defective! Other games seem to look okay at least. Nintenboy01 (talk) 23:30, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just checked closely: I don't see any faint vertical lines at all, and I never noticed any with Zelda Wind Waker during the time I had played it... So it's likely a problem that just you have. However, this sounds more like it's an issue with your TV itself, rather than the systems. Erik Jensen (Appreciate or Laugh At) 05:00, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Here's something more explicit: Try looking up at the sky in Twilight Princess, especially if it's a little dark or greyish blue. It's full of obvious vertical lines and it's most visible in Ordon Village during the day. It looks the same even on my friend's Wii on a different TV. However, we are both using S-video cables instead of composite. Nintenboy01 (talk) 21:28, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Muarim Bug[edit]

Say Erik, I just wanted to ask if Muarim's character description in your copy of Radiant Dawn is also a duplicate of Mist's. What an unforgivable oversight! Nintenboy01 (talk) 05:07, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

True facts on both points. :P Erik Jensen (Appreciate or Laugh At) 07:28, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Opinion Appreciated[edit]

Hello Erik, I don't believe we have crossed paths on Wikipedia before but I see on your user page that you were one of those who discussed the merging of each individual Pokémon species article into lists. There is currently a discussion underway at Talk:List of Pokémon anime characters on whether to do the same for the Pokémon character articles. Your opinion and input would be appreciated in this discussion, if you would like to take part. MelicansMatkin (talk) 04:08, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the species lists are the only thing I really pay attention to on Wikipedia's Pokemon project, but in concept I'd agree with merging most of the anime characters into that one list page in the same fashion (Ash and perhaps Misty and Brock might warrant their own pages, though). The discussion over there looks pretty heated, though, which is something I always try to avoid. But thanks for the post. Erik Jensen (Appreciate or Laugh At) 19:16, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

List of Characters[edit]

Hello Erik, I happened to notice that you have made a substantionally large amount of edits involving Golden Sun, so I'll ask you for you expert opinion on these two questions. One, I inserted an image of the GS:TLA characters on the list page, good or bad idea. Two, if it was a good Idea, than do any antagonists deserve images? Thanks!--Ezekiel 7:19 S†rawberry Fields (sign) 16:50, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I didn't check here recently. The TLA image is definitely a good idea in my opinion. The antagonists, on the other hand, probably shouldn't have images because there'd be too many images for Wikipedia policy to agree with. Thanks for uploading File:AW2Super.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. I have nominated List of Pokémon (1–20), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Pokémon (1–20). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Colonel Warden (talk) 12:03, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Main page apperance[edit]

Hello! This is a note to let the main editors of this article know that it will be appearing as the main page featured article on November 10, 2010. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/November 10, 2010. If you think that it is necessary to change the main date, you can request it with the featured article director, Raul654 (talk · contribs). If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :D Thanks!
