I am editing on behalf of a company, but the edits will remain neutral. The aim is to ensure information is balanced and available rather than being a collection of subjective views. Furthermore I do not see myself editing articles about the company I work for.

Template:Infobox Future Infrastructure Project

Hi. I see you've been adding the above template to a few articles. I don't think that this is useful in, say, an article about a settlement. The developments of a B road in Stowmarket are not that significant in the grand scheme of things. Usage in an article about the Future Infrastructure Project, e.g. Cambridgeshire Guided Busway, does seem to be fully appropriate. Dancarney (talk) 14:39, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

.svg images not working properly

I have been creating .svg map images of transport projects and placing them on Wikipedia.

However, when the .svg image uses a .png background (to create a smaller file) (it points to an uploaded .png, not a .png on my hard drive), it does not work properly in Wikipedia.

example:

Direct link to an image I uploaded to the commons - works.

Link to the above images page - does not show image but link to it works.

Trying to place the image on a wiki page: does not work, but can follow links to reach it.

Does anyone know what can be done to fix this, or what I am doing wrong?

I'm not an expert on this and, given how long you've been waiting for a response, it seems to have stumped many of our helpers. Instinct tells me that having one image be dependent on another seems a bad idea - not only does it look like the MediaWiki software cannot handle it properly, but it would mean people wanting to reuse your image would have to jump through hoops to make sure they have the dependent file.

I would recommend keeping all image files self-contained, so you may have to export your SVG to a PNG file and upload that. Given that the SVG is dependent on a PNG file, the primary benefit of the SVG format -that is, scalability - has been lost anyway.
