Jacques Cousteau[edit]

Semi-protection removed for now. Feel free to edit the article directly. Euryalus (talk) 10:42, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I'm not too sure where to start, but I guess I'll take a good look at the article later today and see what I can do to help fix it up a little. Thanks. Empty Feeling (talk) 11:03, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for adding the new info and the reference to the article. The manner in which you added the reference worked, but I saw that you asked on the talk page about whether you did it right. The proper way to add a citation to an article is using Template:Citation or one of its relatives such as Template:Cite news or Template:Cite web. The instructions on how to use those templates are on their respective pages. Just stick that template between the >ref< and >/ref< tags, and ta-da! The reference will show up in the references section in the correct format.

Another handy reference trick is for when you want to use the same reference in several different places in the article. You only have to have the citation template written out once if, instead of using just >ref<, you use >ref name=descriptive_name<. Still put >/ref< at the end. Then, when you come to a place in the article where you want to reference the same source, all you have to type is >ref name=descriptive_name/< (don't forget the slash).

It all seems a little complicated at first, but it's pretty easy to get the hang of. Hope this helps, and thanks again! :) LaMenta3 (talk) 19:02, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
