The Culvert

Hi Elmer I agree that The Culvert is not published by a major house. It is quite difficult for novels on the subject of pedophilia to get a publisher. It is for this reason that I have included an article on this book. It is also one of the books listed on pedophilia and child sexual abuse in fiction and I am trying to ensure that each book in the first section has an article so that Wikipedians can find further information. isurvived.org

I'm aware of the controversies about isurvived.org, and I'm fully aware that Webville was both uncivil and a linkspammer. That said, I still think http://isurvived.org/TOC-IV.html#Holocaust_Romania is an excellent collection of links about the Holocaust in Romania, far better than anything else I've seen (and I've looked), and should be linked from Romania during World War II and/or History of the Jews in Romania. I have no problem with attaching a warning that other parts of the site may be controversial; I see absolutely nothing controversial in what has been linked. Well she hasn't won an AVN award but she was nominated for it in 2004. She played the lead role in "Up close and virtual with Danielle Foxxx" which was the first hi-definition, wide screen transsexual porn movie ever made so that is quiet a breakthrough.

There's something not mentioned in the criteria but is considered to be an important criteria for notability otherwise - searching with her name as an exact phrase (using the double inverted commas around her name), one gets 81,000 results.

Well my first reaction to CSD isn't much different from that of other editors but then after initial few moments of feeling affronted , I realise that the editor who put that tag must have a reason to believe the subject isn't notable. It isn't as if he feels he has to take me down somehow when he doesn't even know me.

I learnt that from my girl lol. But well thanks for the help mate. I learnt about the notability criteria for porn stars today only because of you. This will help me here in the long run.

SGGS on Meat

I hope you have looked at the various Parables and 1000's of pages using the Quotation template – All of these articles use quotations and are referring to some POV. So do all these articles need to be deleted? Regarding WP:OR – These quotes have existed for 2000 years in the holy Bible and for 5000 years in the SGGS – It's no original research. My Friend, What are you trying to say?

The point of all these quotations is to inform the reader of what the Holy texts have to say – that I hope you will agree is an important point; an important issue and a mechanism that needs to be preserved. The job of Encyclopaedias is to correctly inform its readers!! Without quotations you get to a situation when wrong messages of what is in the holy text can be conveyed as is happening with some aspects of Islam. So it is very important that we are allowed to quote these text verbatim so that the message is not tampered with - Discussion can be NPOV or POV, etc and these can be added to these articles if required. The quotations in themselves do not have a POV or NPOV – They are of a factual nature. The quote from the holy Bible is a FACT which has existed for 2000 years. Whether you believe it or not is another matter – Many billions believe in these facts. The writings of the Bible, Koran, SGGS, etc are all FACTS – They are NOT NPOV or POV. If I write that the SGGS says "There is one God" – That is a factual statement. If you go and look in the SGGS, then you will find that statement there. Whether you want to believe the statement or not – is another matter. Verbatim quotations are facts not subject to the POV or NPOV criterion. When we start making our own comments and have discussions on these texts, it becomes POV or NPOV. I urge all participants here to vote and argue to keep the SGGS on Meat and all Parables article as well as they convey important historic messages. --Hari Singh 00:08, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Many thanks for your latest comments on the SGGS deletion page. I am beginning to see why you have made some of the comments that you did.
The main definition of a Sikh is someone who believes in the SGGS. So if you do not believe in these quotes, then I believe that you cannot be a Sikh. See Sikhiwiki (please note I have links with this site) also see Sikh.
So this brings me to the other reason why I have kept these quotes separate from the discussion page. It highlights the importance given to the issue under discussion (ie: eating meat) and the sacred text, which for a Sikh is like a living Guru - see article on SGGS to see the reverence given to the Guru Granth Sahib. I appreciate your time and effort in making your stand. This conveys to me your objectivity and at least a commitment to impartiality – which is refreshing and a scarce commodity these days. Possessive pronouns

Actually, since I may be the only feminist in Wikipedia:WikiProject Orthodox Judaism and since I originally wrote this section of the Amidah article, it's probably my job to object to language which tends to assume that a worshipper is a "he". But we're approaching WP:3RR so I'll pause for a day and see if someone else changes it in the meanwhile. Using "one" as a personal pronoun is pretty mild stuff and not nearly as bad as his/hers and various other artifices people have come up with. Best, --Shirahadasha 23:24, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Agree you can't use "one's" as a substitute for "worshipper" since it's not a personal pronoun. That's why it doesn't sound right. But omit the apostrophe and voila! A one-syllable gender-neutral personal pronoun that's short, easy to pronounce, and has a long history as part of English usage. --Shirahadasha 23:44, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

.mov as a file name and a domain name

Since you asked, I thought I might give an explanation as to why it could work. A browser, assuming it is well-written knows how to distinguish between a filetype in a URL and a domain name URL. Even beyond that, there's information in the file itself that would be used. If you're on Windows you could try a test with a .com file because DOS used to use those, and some are still around even today. Or you could try putting a .mov reference in your Hosts file if you want. Not saying you couldn't have some problems, but there are problems with URL spoofing today anyway. Note: I do not recommend you try finding a .com file on the internet to see what might happen, that could lead to some problems with viruses. FrozenPurpleCube 02:39, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
