Image:TongueCleaner iso WEB.jpg[edit]

Please clarify the copyright and licensing of Image:TongueCleaner iso WEB.jpg. It appears that the image may be the property of VeriFresh.[1] If so, please request permission to publish it on Wikipedia. Best wishes, Walter Siegmund (talk) 03:07, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edikraft (talk) 00:18, 14 January 2008 (UTC) Dear Siegmund, Appreciate you contacting me. I am quite a novice here in this fascinating environment. Since I'm a dental hygiene freak, I decided to make some contributions in that sense. Chose that image since I thought it was relevant for the page I am building. Will contact the owners to ask for permission to use that photo and possibly other ones. Could you be so nice as to recommend me which is the easiest and fastest way for getting the photos acceptance in wikipedia?[reply]

There are also some merciless threats of immediate removal, not sure what to do about that... except for the promise to add more relevant material and document that pagem to make it a useful resource to people interesed in the field.

Hi Edikraft; Don't take the warnings personally, but Wikipedia has policies and guidelines on copyrighted material with which many new editors are not familiar. Please see WP:COPY, for example. If you have a camera, you can take your own pictures and upload them. Many US government photographs are {{PD-USGov}}. However, "most images you find on the Web are not public domain, even if they list no explicit copyright information". These may not be used on Wikipedia without permission. Your contributions to dental hygiene are appreciated. Those articles could use some work. Best wishes, Walter Siegmund (talk) 22:42, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edikraft (talk) 18:47, 15 January 2008 (UTC)Thanks Wsiegmund. I appreciate your feedback, and will probably use my camera soon. What should I do regarding the "Speedy deletion of Tongue cleaner" threats above? Are they going to be removed by an authorised aditor? I can't sleep in the nights:) Best Regards![reply]

I don't know anything that you can do until you receive permission for their use. They will probably be deleted soon. If you obtain permission, you can upload them again with the proper licensing information. Don't feel singled out; a large volume of images with similar copyright problems get deleted every day. Sleep well.
Sorry for my confusion; Image:TongueCleaner iso WEB.jpg has not been tagged for deletion (yet).
Tongue cleaner should be fine now. It could be improved with inline footnotes, but it is no longer a candidate for speedy deletion. If someone objects to it now, they will have to go through the full deletion procedure. That is unlikely and you get to argue for retention. You could nominate it for WP:DYK, if you wish, but it may need to be expanded.
BTW; you can sign your messages (on talk pages only) by ending your message with ~~~~. Walter Siegmund (talk) 19:41, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Siegmund, does it mean that I can leave the image as is, or I should replace it with a photo of the product that I would personally take? The page is still under construction, and I intend to make it more consistent, adding valuable information regarding the concept of tongue cleaning and its benefits. Hopefully soon, the page will look professional and worthy of being added to the WP:DYK. That would be nice. Waiting now for a favorable decision regarding the merging of the Tongue scraper into the [[Tongue cleaner], for which I have brought relevant arguments. Then we can deliver in consistent way the message to the readers. Thank you, Edikraft (talk) 22:30, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Edikraft; Please replace the photograph with an image with a valid copyright license, either your own work or that of others. Otherwise, Image:TongueCleaner iso WEB.jpg will be tagged for speedy deletion, deleted. and the article will be left with no illustration. This will happen sooner or later, and you may not notice for some time. If you have the interest and time, please add footnotes. They make it easier to maintain articles. Thank you for contributing and best wishes, Walter Siegmund (talk) 15:42, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Sigmund, Thanks for the advice. I will use my own photo. Just figured out the footnotes. Best Edikraft (talk) 22:29, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Edikraft; nice work on the footnotes; I didn't realize I was repeating myself above; the emphasis was inadvertent. But, the footnote looks good. Good luck with the photograph, too. Best wishes, Walter Siegmund (talk) 05:13, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Sigmund, no problem about the emphasys, I love footnotes:)...That was only an excercise. Have to do in the next days some real argumentation. I am working on a good quality photo. Best, Edikraft (talk) 23:09, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Siegmund, see the discussion and the page. Best, Edikraft (talk) 23:29, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Edikraft; I responded on the article talk page. Nice work. BTW, you might want to say a bit about yourself on your userpage. That way, it won't be a redlink any longer and it will help others communication better with you. Don't put your email or personal information on the page if you don't want to encourage spam or stalkers. You might wish to indicate your gender, approximate age, country or region and languages. {{Babel}} is available for the last item. Best wishes, Walter Siegmund (talk) 06:20, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Siegmund, I have fixed several issues that were perhaps seen as advertisements. I hope the text is OK in that sense now. I would appreciate if I may get a confirmation, or recommendations on how to improve it to be in lines with the Wiki policy. I would also appreciate if OK, then to remove the Warning Box for Speedy Deletion note. Many thanks in advance, Edikraft (talk) 23:00, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Article written like an advertisement" of Tongue cleaner[edit]

Dear Sigmund, Happy New Year! I would like to propose to remove the complaint showing on top of the article stating that is written as an advertisment. I have modified all claims that seemed to be inapropriate and have so far kept only statements supported by published officical studies. If there is any issue that still needs attention, please help recommend specifically what to fix. Best regards, Edikraft (talk) 10:08, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"The upload history for this image contains multiple independent media files."[edit]

Dear Sigmund, dear editors, I need help in regards to the notifications around this image: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:VeriFresh_Tongue_Cleaner.jpg#file Also about the "This is a candidate to be copied to Wikimedia Commons." and "This file was flagged for transfer by a bot." notifications. I tried to figure out how to do it alone but it seemed too delicate and was afraid not so do something wrong. Would really appreciate help from someone with experience to sort this out. Thank you!
