Beauharnais[edit]

- Could you look at Eugène de Beauharnais and Alexandre, vicomte de Beauharnais's ancestry box now. I found them but I'm not sure if 25. Catherine Thierry and 19. On entry speedy deletion[edit]
I want to apologize for this terrible mistake on the Habsburg-Lorraine Archduke article, but I'm glad at least more than half of it was accurate, and glad you detected the huge flaw. Some misleading sources were the cause, and I was suspicious. I write this to defend my good faith, as I did not write it on purpose, or least, to create a hoax. I'd reviewed (and will keep on doing it) any other collaborations or modifications to comply with Wikipedia's purpose and guidelines. It is our responsability to maintain our enciclopedia accurate and clean. I appreciate your efforts and spotting of wrongs. AcademieIT (talk) 03:29, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
- You're welcome. But I'll appreciate if you could take a look at the other articles that, if I'm not wrong, you've also created and look suspicious to me. Such as G.P., V.M., P.M (full of nonexistent people; i.e. Maximilian von Baden-Baden, Countess Maria G. M.D. (1847-1938), Karolina Amalie von Hessen-Homburg (1787–1836), Helene zu Isenburg and Budingen, Antonietta Carola von Waldburg und Hohenzollern-Hechingen, Friedericka von Hessen-Philippsthal (1867-1932), and the best A. Habsburg-Lothringen, Princess of Austria, Princess of Hungary and Bohemia, Princess of Tuscany ... ), Castello... - Of course I'll take a closer look at them. The Archduke entries with their wrong parts were very shameful to me, as I asked for some information and was provided with one very confusing. At least one is right. About your concerns, I can tell you that I will review once again these articles thoroughfully, as there are no or almost none online sources to do it properly. The same happens with other important Italian families from the North that, with just a quick search, you'll find out no information on the internet, except in books, which alone is too preposterous to disqualify their existence and importance. When surfing on certain of the names you listed above, I also found lots of contradictory data, which will have to be checked. I am thinking that if no accurate information in English is found on the subjects, we can eliminate many of the names and reduce the article to something simpler. Indeed there was a Duke by that long name, living in Turin. His mausoleum at the cemetery there is huge (that was what caught my interest in exploring this family), as about 10 feet is the tomb of the Valperga's. The problem is most of the sources are in Italian, as for many other families that could too be labelled as "non existant", and I can give you links to most, if you would like to. The strangest thing is that about Alice Theresa there's no clear online information, despite the fact she's buried in Turin next to her husband, and with that name... I got the dates from the mausoleum too. The Poeti family did really exist, with origins not in Piedmont but in Emilia-Romagna (Bologna), and there are a few links that can prove you this (there's even a famous garden, you can Google it up, that still exists in Bologna, "Giardino de la Famiglia Poeti", next to the palace they inhabited there. Most of the references are in books and/or Italian, and I understand all concerns (as I am too a bit shocked by the outcome). There's a large description on the family, for instance, in an encyclopedia published in Italy by commission of the King of Italy himself, updated every 10 years (there are many editions starting the 1830s, the last by the early 1910s), under the title "Dizionario geografico, storico, statistico, commerciale degli Stati di s. M. Il re" [Geographic, Historic, Statistic and Business Dictionary of the States of H.H. the King] (there's something useful said about it on Wikipedia Italy here ). In these voluminous books, the author, respected professor in Italy Goffredo Casalis, reviewed all the 19th century on Piedmontese history, specially the families of nobility. There are on the Poeti Valperga family about 30 pages of information, some cited in my entries. This book is available on Google Books even for download (at least some editions), as well as the surnames can be checked there "Poeti-Marentini", "Valperga", etc. The information on this family has been appearing as has suited research by some genealogists working on the more notorious names, but never before nobody has attempted a thorough research. As some genealogists keep their work private (is not indexed on Google), one has to do it manually, and it takes time (if one wants to get some online answers). For example, serious and respectful pages as Leo van de Pas' site tells you bits of the story of the family that has raised doubts to you and me, but very fragmented and incomplete, as it seems it has got there by chance during other of his more deep researches.
- As there's a percentage of information that is dubious to you, I'm wondering how do you think I should proceed, having in mind everything I said above. I think that in the end, some information can be deleted, but I'll appreciate also your patience (as other member's), as I will keep in touch with the findings, as I hope you will, because there are living people bearing those names, and all controversy can damage them (something nobody wants). - Wow, that was a long message! Well I think you should begin by removing all names I mentioned above (longer it stays there, the more people will see this, and the more Wikipedia will lose credibility), plus many more as I can see. Also, remove references to Alice Habsburg-Lothringen, Princess of Austria, etc. It's sure she never had those titles, otherwise we would know it. I think the best is that you do it, as it's your work and you know more than anyone what's right and what's not.--EDT95 (talk) 23:38, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- I'm sorry for that long one! You can expect no more alike! :) Will work on a better article removing the dubious names, and at least when it comes to Alice Habsburg, will remove the titles as you suggest. As I tell you, will try to investigate on my spare time better, even to contact some of her living descendants, and whatever extraordinary I find will tell you. I am going to keep things simple with the best objectivity. Thanks for your help. Will write a note here as soon as the article is reworked. How can the tags on this "article can be removed or fixed? Hello EDT! I recently began articles for Alexis, Prince of Bentheim and Steinfurt, Ludwig Wilhelm, Prince of Bentheim and Steinfurt, and Paul I, 1st Prince Esterházy of Galántha and was having some trouble building ahnentafels for them due to a lack of data. Since you have done a beautiful job with completing many other ahnentafels, I was woundering if you could assist me in these endeavors. - I'll be happy to bring you some help on this! For the Bentheims, I would use this site : Genealogy - roglo, great database with lots of information on German and French nobility among others. Just type their names in German (ex. Alexis zu Bentheim und Steinfurt) and all their ancestry on many generations can be found.
- For Pál Esterházy, you could use the same site, but then there's a lot of ancestry missing. So I would suggest this site : Genealogy.euweb.cz/Esterhazy, very complete database too, lots of fairly unknown aristocracy from Central and Eastern Europe. I think you could get pretty much all the ancestry of Pál, though I didn't verify his entire tree.--EDT95 (talk) 03:20, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
