Toph[edit]

I took out the word 'sight' because she is blind. So the literal word 'sight' is incorrect, in my opinion. If one uses 'sight' to mean her Earthbending skill, it needs to be explained that way. Someone who knows little about this show will be confused. They will not know that she is literally blind. As for emotioins, how this:

Sandbenders attack Appa with intent to capture him, while Toph,
her "sight" hampered by the sand, and tormented by the need to
prevent the library from sinking, is unable to help.

Will that work for you? Salvax (Speak on me | What I did)--23:06, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, since you decided to keep the use of 'sight', I think a compromise should be met, and let me use 'tormented'. Let's meet half way...what do you say? We both should be able to contribute. Salvax (Speak on me | What I did)--01:10, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think it will stay, you might as well give up the fight. Besides, we're going to be fucking up the Minor page soon so it might actually be a bit useful then. It's just that as of now it looks like shit! H2P (Yell at me for what I've done) 00:58, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Katarapic2.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Katarapic2.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:07, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

You need to stop editing Sage's comment.[edit]

This isn't a joke. You keep editing his comment, you can get blocked for it. I don't want to file the report, but I will if you make me. You have a problem with something he said, take it up on his talk page. You're breaking policy here, stop it.--Fyre2387 (talkcontribs) 18:53, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And he is too. That's the problem with the policies. -Dylan0513 18:54, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Even if that's true, two wrongs don't make a right. He answered a question, there's nothing blatantly sinister about it, and there's nothing to excuse what you're doing.--Fyre2387 (talkcontribs) 18:57, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
He's advertising for a site that in reality hurts the avatar community! That's inexcusable in itself. -Dylan0513 18:58, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's your opinion, one that not everyone share's (I've got the site bookmarked, in fact.) Regardless, he's not "advertising". Advertising would be sticking random unsolicited links in pages. He answered a question, nothing more than that.--Fyre2387 (talkcontribs) 19:03, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm pretty sure saying, like this and you should really check out here is advertising. ASN may look helpful, but they're an exclusionary "don't steal my pics or your getting sued" place. And this is with me having nothing person against them either. -Dylan0513 19:06, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't care for all their admins, either (their a bit harsh on the forums, I think) but that's neither here nor there. This person asked, and he got an honest answer. Like I said, if you have a problem with the way Sage handled it, take it up on his talk page, fine, but editing his comments just doesn't fly. He could have done a lot worse things, and I'd still leave the comment as it was, because things just aren't done that way.--Fyre2387 (talkcontribs) 19:10, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I did post on his talk page already. I'm pretty sure this is against policy though and I can get permission or get someone else to take it off though. -Dylan0513 19:12, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dylan, what would you have done? Told the kid to screw off and never come here again because this isn't a forum? Probably, which means you would have broken this: Wikipedia:Please do not bite the newcomers. I chose to give the kid a site to go to so that he would not post any other such things on Wikipedia. I gave him an outlet, it wasn't advertising. It was guidance. And it's not against the Wikipedia policy to send someone to a site where they should be. It's not advertising however you want to see it. Want to know why? Here: Wikipedia:Advertisement.

Read up and read well. What I did in no way qualifies as advertisement OR as canvassing. You just have personal issues against ASN and any mention of it, as you've mentioned above. That gives you NO reason to delete someone's comment and COMPLETELY breaks THIS policy: Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines#Behavior that is unacceptable.

Do you see now that YOU are the policy-breaker and not me? You're "pretty sure" that my actions were against policy? Maybe you should RESEARCH BEFORE you act. Like I did. It's common sense. If you do that, you'll be far less likely to break any of these, too: Wikipedia:Etiquette#How to avoid abuse of talk pages.

I was going to send him to another Avatar page with a forum, but I couldn't really find one fast enough, so I just gave him ASN. There was no hidden agenda, and you have no reason or evidence to think so. Whether you like or dislike ASN, you can't deny that they have a forum and was where that kid should have been. Not here. What YOU think of ASN, whether it is good or bad, does not even remotely factor into anything that should ever be on Wikipedia. So keep it to yourself.

I'm going to stop throwing all those links in your face now. I did that not because I want to be hostile, but because I wanted to be thourough – a courtesy you did not give me.

Now I won't go there and re-edit the page to include my response. Mainly because I feel that the kid got the message and there is nothing more to be gained. You, however, Dylan, need to exercise far more caution with your rash behaviour, for the sake of your account and every Avatar page. Sage of Ice 23:40, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your turning into Manticore with all those links, XD. I have nothing personal against ASN, I just don't like them. And I won't read any one of those policies. You were definitely being to nice to him, he insulted us and called us not real avatar fans. In the future, please don't throw out a random suggestion to a fan site. Any of them. -Dylan0513 23:45, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that Manticore gets his fair share of criticism. But Dylan, if you won't read the links, then you only put yourself in a position of ignorance which will lead to other arguments such as the one you just had with Fyre. You do good work on the Avatar pages and it's best that you keep yourself informed about Wikipedia in general to really maximize your contributions. By shrugging off the policies and guidelines, you put yourself at risk of breaking them, kind of like you just did. You can choose to not care, but don't expect to get away with uninformed actions.
I was hoping that by being nice to him I wouldn't have had to deal with stuff like his second insert, but apparently not. As for throwing out fan-site suggestions, it's perfectly allowed so long as it's on the talk pages and is being productive instead of disruptive, and not continuous or "spammed". Read the Wikipedia:Advertisement to better understand what I mean.
If I feel that a discussion can benefit from directing someone to a site, so long as I don't suffocate someone with it, then I'm prefectly within the policies and guidelines to do so. You, unfortunately, are not in a position to refute that, but you are free to talk to me when you feel it is excessive (which it wasn't in that case). Sometimes it is necessary to link a fan site, as fan sites are the ones who often host con transcripts with valuable info. In this case, it was necessary as a painless way to get a potential vandal out of here, and I can only hope it worked. Sage of Ice 00:39, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't care about Wikipedia policies all that much. I really don't think we're should be linking to fansites, but if you are, please link to distanthorizon or dongufeng, it's for the good of the community. -Dylan0513 00:56, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I could have listed Distant Horizon or Dongbu, as they do have a forum. They just didn't come to my mind fast enough. ASN popped in and that was what I used. I was trying to get him out, not provide him with a comprehensive list of Avatar fansites.
As I mentioned, linking to fansites is allowed so long as it is done when it is appropriate and serves a purpose. I'm sorry that you don't like this, but it's just the way it is. As I said, I won't be doing it on every post, just when it can prove useful. And I'm not particular about my fansites. I peruse them all looking for updates and have no qualms with any. So I'll mention whichever comes to mind. I won't show favoratism, because continuous favoratism could then become advertisement, and I seek to avoid that, believe it or not.
The "good of the community" is really quite subjective. You have your opinions on which sites are better, but it may not be shared by all. You may have this view of ASN: "ASN may look helpful, but they're an exclusionary "don't steal my pics or your getting sued" place," but don't try to make the world see it the same way. The pics I upload onto this site are pics I make myself using my own screenshots. You don't need a fansite to get pics, so I don't see why you hate them so much for such a small reason.
To end this rant, I'll just mention that you seemed to care enough about the policies when you could use them to further your own agenda. Be careful with that. Sage of Ice 01:40, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dylan, really: you're honestly saying you think the best thing to do would have been to tell this new guy to go screw himself, rather than just answer his question?--Fyre2387 (talkcontribs) 01:57, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Uh, delete the topic and move on. It's not our job to be nice to these people. And Sage, I've never really cared about the policies and I'm almost positive I've never cited them. -Dylan0513 02:05, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, it's not our job to be nice, but it doesn't hurt to do so. Potential vandals just get more worked up if we bitch at them, causing them to become complete vandals just out of spite. Being civil helps avoid collateral damage and isn't really a chore to anyone unless they aren't civil in real life, without the Net's protection.
I was just saying, Dylan, that you didn't hesitate to say "I'm pretty sure this is against policy though and I can get permission or get someone else to take it off though" when it came to your justification as to why I was in the wrong. But you avoided the policies I brought up that put me in the right. Sage of Ice 03:03, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As a side note: regardless of how much you care about Wikipedia's rules, you do need to follow them, so reading them may not be a bad idea.--Fyre2387 (talkcontribs) 05:05, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not when they contradict what I think is right. And yeah just remember, they're policies, not rules. -Dylan0513 11:55, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
But Dylan... that's bigotry. I would advise steering yourself clear of that state of mind and just accepting, with maturity and good sportsmanship, when you are in the wrong. Take the situation, learn from it, and move on.
Now, if the system of a policy is good enough to be the basis and backbone of good governments, then what is it that makes you so above that system on Wikipedia? Sage of Ice 16:20, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Nah, those are laws. And it's not bigotry, if some policy on a website contradicts my moral values, I'm obviously not going to follow it. -Dylan0513 23:07, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No see, laws and policies are different. Governments function on policies: foreign policies, economic policies, policies of conduct... the list goes on. Governments pass laws, but they operate on policies. Without the established policies, they would crumble. It's a lot different from a law. Wikipedia functions the same way. Ask yourself what would become of government if every official decided to completely ignore the established policies. Policies govern those who govern laws. Without policies, presidents become dictators. Then what would become of the laws?
Do not think yourself above the policies. No one here is. Not you, not me, not Fyre, not H2P...
You didn't follow the link that I posted, so I'll paste the definition here:
big·ot·ry /ˈbɪgətri/ Pronunciation Key – [big-uh-tree]
–noun, plural -ries.
1. stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one's own.
So there you have it. By thinking yourself too good to obey Wikipedia policies, you put yourself in the position of bigotry. What moral values is it contradicting? The moral value that allows free speech on a talk page? The moral value which allows the freedom of sharing of information? The moral value of neutral objective when it comes to sending someone to a site? It's obeying all of those, so perhaps you don't foster such morals. Perhaps the only moral you foster is the intolerance of ASN. You haven't even read the policies to know what it is you're "rebelling" against, you just can't stand ASN. That is a weak platform, my friend.
This has gone on for way too long. You're obviously too stubborn to accept anything that isn't what you want it to be. If this means we'll clash again in the future, then so be it. It's not my wish, but if I have to in order to defend Wikipedia policies, then I guess I will. In the meantime, hopefully this won't hinder collaboration on Avatar articles quality. I won't be making any more entries onto your talk page for this topic so say whatever you want; I'm just wasting my time here. Sage of Ice 03:40, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And yet you don't notice the key word in your sentence all the time. Wikipedia. Wiki is not the law and never will be. -Dylan0513 12:00, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(un-indent)So the website has no right to set rules for its own users? That actually makes sense to you? I expect you'll stop reverting vandals, then...--Fyre2387 (talkcontribs) 19:20, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

D'oh! Whatever, I'm just going to stop. Sage, you'll never understand, and Fyre, I don't feel like explaining. I'll continue to work with you both and respect you, but just don't expect me to agree with with you on issues like this. -Dylan0513 21:25, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Popups[edit]

Hey, you use Popups, can you tell me why I don't always see them? They come back if I go to my monobook page and shift+Refresh but even then sometimes they don't come back. H2P (Yell at me for what I've done) 16:03, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Avatar The legend so far.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. DC Meetup notice[edit]

Greetings. There is going to be a Washington DC Wikipedia meetup on next Saturday, July 21st at 5pm in DC. Since you are listed in Category:Wikipedians in Maryland, I thought I'd invite you to come. I'm sorry about the short notice for the meeting. Hopefully we'll do somewhat better in that regard next time. If you can't come but want to make sure that you are informed of future meetings be sure to list yourself under "but let me know about future events", and if you don't want to get any future direct notices \(like this one\), you can list yourself under "I'm not interested in attending any others either" on the DC meetup page.--Gmaxwell 00:27, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dylan, I know that you know more info then us, but that info isn't "confirmed" in the Wikipedia sense of the term. Is it just me, or is the third season of Avatar not all that great. It's actually really starting to just annoy me how they are treating these last few episodes. H2P (Yell at me for what I've done) 19:19, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what you're talking about, but I'm loving the season so far. In terms of plot and action, it'll pick up starting next episode. But I'm enjoying the less plot packed episodes while they last. -Dylan0513 01:54, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:City of Walls and Secrets- Dai Lee.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:City of Walls and Secrets- Dai Lee.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 21:53, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Summary[edit]

I know it was probably just annoyance due to all the stress of upcoming episodes in Avatar, but I just wanted to let you known you should try and avoid edit summaries that accuse editors as a "moron". The user most likely made the edit in good faith. I do not mean to accuse you of anything or to insult you, but I just wanted to let you know. December 2008[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Aang. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 06:52, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Dylan0513. Your editing at Aang has been mentioned at WP:AN3. You may wish to respond there. EdJohnston (talk) 18:24, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

I have blocked you due to edit warring (on Aang) and incivility ([1]). If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. — Aitias // discussion 18:24, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Dylan0513 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I was blocked because of a dispute with Sesshomaru. I find it unfair that I am blocked while he remains unblocked. We both violated 3RR, and if I am going to be punished, so should he. I tried to take the issue to the discussion page, and I discussed it several times (Talk:Katara#Relationship with Aang). Sesshomaru did not. I regret that I became uncivil, and for that I apologize.

Decline reason:

I see nothing above that adresses your behavior, nor do I see any assurances that this will not happen again if you are unblocked. See WP:GAB. — Jayron32.talk.contribs 19:04, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Dylan0513 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

The reason for my behavior was that a consensus was reach (I liked to it above) and I was implementing the consensus into the article. I was reverting edits that took away what was decided with the consensus. I will not break 3RR again for this. -Dylan0513 (talk) 19:07, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I don't perceive that either of you was technically over 3RR, but you were clearly edit warring and you did make a personal attack. If you can offer a proposal of how you think this dispute at Aang could be resolved, I suspect that Aitias might consider shortening your block. I do not myself see any clear consensus on the disputed matter, but you could propose how one could be found. As an alternative, if you can't think of any way to agree on the wording about Katara in the article, an agreement by you to stay away from this issue for a period of time might be OK. EdJohnston (talk) 20:05, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Shortening block length per discussion below. User has promised not to edit war again and not to make any edits to the article until a consensus is reached. Still, there was incivility, which warrants a block — 24 hours seem to be more than fair.

Request handled by:Aitias // discussion 04:55, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comment from blocking admin[edit]

Firstly, I'd like to thank EdJohnston for informing me. Considering that you have promised not to edit war again and not to make any edits to that article until there's a clear consensus, I'd be willing to shorten the block to 24 hours (i.e. until 18:45, 31 December 2008). Would that be okay with you, Dylan? — Aitias // discussion 04:17, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd really prefer to be unblocked totally so I can help in resolving this conflict as soon as possible. First thing I'm going to do when unlocked is go to the discussion page and try to revive the consensus talks. -Dylan0513 (talk) 04:19, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think that Dylan's concession is a good enough reason to lighten the block, and I would not have a preference between the immediate unblock and a shortening to 24 hours. EdJohnston (talk) 04:25, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) There still was an edit war and there still was inacceptable incivility (I know, you apologised). Given that, 24 hours are rather slight. That said, I don't feel comfortable unblocking completely. — Aitias // discussion 04:27, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The thing is, I am getting punished while the other editor is not. The only reason I ask for a complete unblock is for that reason. Plus I'm not sure I technically violated 3RR. -Dylan0513 (talk) 04:28, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You did not have four reverts in 24 hours but you were edit warring. Please look up the definition. Both parties were at risk of a block but you took the additional step of making a personal attack. EdJohnston (talk) 04:32, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I made a more direct personal attack (which I am sorry for), but that was because he put a notice on my talk page saying that I was violating 3RR and I'd be reported if I didn't stop, while right after that he reverted me right back. I think that was an attack as well, and I was frustrated at it. -Dylan0513 (talk) 04:34, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(two edit conflicts) Well, I'm well aware that you did technically not violate the 3RR. However, you were clearly edit warring (cf. what EdJohnston pointed out above). I don't think that the other editor was edit warring (he reverted you two times). — Aitias // discussion 04:36, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Anyway, that's not a problem anymore. As I wrote above, I'm willing to unblock you for the edit war (24 hours). However, there are still the 24 hours for the incivility. — Aitias // discussion 04:38, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, he reverted me 3 times, but he also reverted another user for the same thing. And Ghostexorcist also reverted me several times as well. This wasn't just a 2 party thing. As for incivility, if everyone was blocked for 24 hours every time they name called, there would probably be 3 times as many people blocked. I really think I was directly provoked in this and taken advantage by the action I stated he did above. -Dylan0513 (talk) 04:42, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you believe that your actions were 100% correct then, in my opinion, there is not much reason for admins to unblock you. The reason for unblocking is that we think you are agreeing to behave differently in the future. EdJohnston (talk) 04:49, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not saying they were 100% correct, I do not believe they were. I was just saying that there was much fault in the action that provoked my action. I do believe I was wrong in saying the thing I did, and I won't do it again in the future. -Dylan0513 (talk) 04:51, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) I completely agree with EdJohnston and would like to emphasise what he wrote. We assume good faith. I shortened your block to 24 hours. As I wrote above, I believe 24 hours are entirely fair. Regards, — Aitias // discussion 05:03, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your cooperation and understanding Aitias and EdJohnston. -Dylan0513 (talk) 04:59, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Volunteer opportunity in Bethesda, Thursday, July 16[edit]

The Wikimedia Foundation will be conducting an all-day Academy at the National Institutes of Health, in Bethesda, Maryland, on Thursday, July 16. The team that will be teaching at the Academy, a mix of paid staff and volunteers, is looking for four more volunteers to be teaching assistants, providing one-to-one assistance in workshops whenever a workshop participant has a problem following the instructional directions. (We currently have two editors signed up as teaching assistants, and are looking for a total of six.)

The NIH editing workshops are only for two hours, but volunteers are asked to meet the Wikimedia Foundation team at the hotel in Bethesda at about 7:15 a.m. (time to be finalized shortly) and to stay for the entire day, which ends at 4:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided. (The full schedule can be found here.)

The team is not necessarily looking for expert editors (though they are welcome), just people who can help novices who might get stuck when trying to do some basic things. If you've been an editor for at least 3 months, and have done at least 500 edits, you probably qualify.

If you're interested, please send John Broughton an email. If you might be interested, but would like further information, please post a note on his user talk page, so that he can respond there, and others can see what was asked.

The Legend of Korra[edit]

Like to contradict yourself? According to your most recent "edit" here, you said "It's not the next episode as it does not have the episode number, whereas here you said "It says "New" which means it's the next episode." on TV Guide it states the next episode is on May 12th and listed as "new" so it technically it the next episode unless there's another source that states there will be one on May 5th. - Alec2011 (talk) 16:35, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well obviously I was wrong, because that is not the next new episode. Nickelodeon's schedule is messed up right now, and we know there is a new episode airing next week from the preview that aired after the last one. Getting things factually right is the key here. -Dylan0513 (talk) 16:38, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
nickelodeon's schedule is always messed up, haha. It's really confusing to know when there's a new episode or not. I made an edit that has correct information. Do not add an episode name (read the hidden message). Just because it's production code is 105, does not mean it will be the next episode. This is not stated at you but just in general. I agree Nick's schedule is so messed up that websites cannot keep up with new episode info. - Alec2011 (talk) 16:53, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning Avatar movie changes[edit]

Just two questions concerning my edit you reverted:
Why did you mark it as minor? While you are free to dispute the merit of my edits, minor implies typographical corrections.
Why did you revert it? While the addition of the information of the anime show could be taken as irrelevant (even though I think it's not) the change of the quote concerning character changes is relevant.
Dive7 0 (talk) 21:59, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Didn't mark your edit as minor, my edit was minor because I was reverting. That line from Avatar isn't relevant and Avatar Wikia isn't a proper source. -Dylan0513 (talk) 23:47, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for responding. I just have a few more questions.
First, I think your explanation would have been helpful if you had posted it on the talk page after you reverted my edit.On to questions.
I also changed a quote from a IMDB user on the movie. Was that irrelevant as well?
Why do you feel the line from the animated show wasn't relevant? I do agree with you about Avatar Wikia not being a proper source though.
Dive7 0 (talk) 15:32, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think that section with IMDB quotes is a good section at all and it'll probably get taken out, but change that quote back if you want. I was reverting for the use of AvatarWiki as a source. As for why is the quote not relevant, because it's speculation as to whether it even refers to it (it probably doesn't if you look at the timing on production on the movie and show) and a quote that may or may not refer to the movie shouldn't be in. Feel free to bring it up on the talk page if you think it should be though. -Dylan0513 (talk) 03:30, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

An exciting month of wiki events![edit]

Hello there,

I am pleased to say that April will be a very exciting month for Wikipedia in Washington, DC. We have a lot of different events coming up, so you will have a lot to choose from.

Coming up in April, we have our first-ever Open Government WikiHack with the Sunlight Foundation on April 5–6! On Friday, April 11 we are having our first edit-a-thon ever with the Library of Congress. The Africa Collection Edit-a-Thon will focus on the Library's African and Middle East Reading Room. It'll be early in the morning, but it's especially worth it if you're interested in improving Wikipedia's coverage of African topics.

The following day, we are having our second annual Wiki Loves Capitol Hill training. We will discuss policy issues relevant to Wikimedia and plan for our day of outreach to Congressional staffers that will take place during the following week.

There are other meetups in the works, so be sure to check our meetup page with the latest. I hope to see you at some of these events!

Wikipedia and YOUR History: Taking Control of the Internet[edit]

Come one and come all. To a presentation at the Laurel Historical Society about how you can help verify, validate, and edit the information that is on the front line of local history.

Picture your self leading the masses to improve Wikimedia one article at a time.
  • Show the Internet who is the better editor.
  • Be the creator of culture that you know you are.
  • Spread the knowledge of noteworthy people who no one but you cares about.
  • Lead the charge to a better Wikipedia --- eventually.
