I am a professor of history and Diné (Navajo) Studies at Navajo Technical University. My research interests are diverse. Currently, I am most interested in the history of the Social Studies Movement in the United States, the depiction of indigenous peoples and nations in secondary and post-secondary textbooks, and the integration of indigenous history into the U.S. History survey.

My training, however, is in religion and war, and specifically focused on the role of religion in the wars of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era. I am also a historian of the Stone-Campbell Restoration Movement.
