American dog[edit]

We are not discussing an 'American Dog' as you seem to think. We are discussing the breed that is referred to as 'Dobermann' in Europe and 'Doberman' in the USA. The breed originated in europe and as such we should be following a European dialect of English and the European spelling. We use references to various clubs for the page not just the AKC (if you look in the infobox you will see half a dozen standards listed). Please don't re-add the US spelling as it is not appropriate.
