No, I don't believe space aliens caused bombs. I haven't seen any evidence that extraterrestrial life has visited Earth, so I wouldn't put my faith in it. However, I do agree with a very slight minority of scientists that there is life of some form on other planets or moons.
The US putting Pinochet into power was among the worst things they ever did. Or perhaps I should say "we", because it was more the American branch of Western capitalists than it was the US specifically; Australia would have done just the same. Follow Force's link to United States intervention in Chile for a few examples. Colin Powell is the only person to have even implicitly admitted as much, but there's little doubt it happened.
I disagree with you on civilian gun control, people wouldn't need so many guns if cops didn't have them. It's actually a tough issue for me; I do agree with gun control, but not when mandated by the state for its own interests, and especially not when its enforcers like cops get to carry assault rifles. I'm mostly just unhappy that most people don't realise that they have to protect themselves from the authorities, not from other people.
About socialism, well, it's got a variety of different economies. I personally would favour some form of parecon, ideally as a gift economy. That type of socialism blurs the line regarding how much people have the right to private property. In any situation, I oppose all private or state ownership of not only the means of production, but also necessary resources like water, food, land (though my views on that are much more complex) and utilities. I also unequivocally support the right to personal posessions; souvenirs, collections of stamps or whatever. People need things like their own wardrobe, photos of loved ones, etc. I can basically summarise my views by saying that everyone should have access to necessities and their own toothbrush. ~Switch t 09:55, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
