Image without license[edit]

Unspecified source/license for File:Nathan Rich.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Nathan Rich.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 09:45, 17 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Nathan Rich.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Tagging articles without accompanying talk page note[edit]

I noticed you doing this in multiple articles. It's a problem because the tag itself directs the reader/editor to the talk page. So please start adding a talk page note to accompany such tags from now on. Thanks. El_C 06:11, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

I would have liked to have participated in that discussion, but it was closed after only one day.Tym Whittier (talk) 15:34, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your User Page[edit]

You'd look more "legitimate" and serious if every edit you made didn't get appended with your User Name in red (due to the absence of a filled-out User Page).Tym Whittier (talk) 22:14, 23 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Legitimacy facade achieved, thanks. Diaozhadelaowai (talk) 03:33, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You have a point, and to that point I agree with you, however there is a visceral impact, particularly on the part of less-experienced Editors, to consider. Someone who might agree with you, and have something to offer, may not do so because the dissident voice is RED (meaning bad) instead of blue, which is normal, safe, and socially acceptable. I toy with doing some kind of self-description in my User Page, but then consider it might be unsafe. And sometimes I consider displaying a rainbow flag, and mentioning my Communist Party affiliation, and then common sense reigns all that in. Meaning, there's a spectrum, where there's a "not enough" on one side and WAY TOO MUCH on the other.Tym Whittier (talk) 18:04, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
