Hello[edit]

So, I had to return your page move for the MHL... I once moved it to where you moved it when the name change happened in error... But if you go to the league website, it says right away Maritime Junior Hockey League.... Despite being abbreviated as MHL.

Also... I had to revert your image on the 2013 Royal Bank Cup page... Your copyright info is not in line with Wikipedia rules... Please click on the logo I replaced it with and look at the type of copyright info I used and fix yours before returning it... We aren't allowed to claim images as our own work if they are owned by someone else... That image will be owned by Hockey Canada. Thanks, and if you have question, please ask away. DMighton (talk) 03:16, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I'll clarify... The Rbc Cup logo has the wrong copyright.... The map is ok... It's very good in fact.... Just downsized it from 700 pixels to about 250 and added "click to enlarge" to its text. Where about do you hail from? Do you only follow Jr A or are you imto B and C or senior as well? DMighton (talk) 18:26, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I am aware of the "Weeks"/"Pictou County" thing... we cannot use the advertiser as the "location of the team".... When the Crushers went to the Royal Bank Cup in 2008... I got a flack from MJAHL fans for insisting on the Weeks name... not realizing it was a construction company... around the time the team was allowing people to call them the Pictou County "Weeks" Crushers... so after some thought I dropped the Weeks from the name... what is generally accepted on here is Team and Name (Montreal Canadiens).... if the team has no name and only has a sponsor... then we can go with that (Port Elgin Sunocos)... but Sponsor and then a team name is frowned upon (CIBC Lumberjacks). I know the MHL likes to promote their sponsors, and good on them for doing it... but we can't do it on here. DMighton (talk) 22:43, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
http://icehockey.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_Canadian_Junior_A_Seasons_%28Post-1970%29 This may interest you. This is a list of all modern Junior A seasons ever played. Very little is missing... only a little bit of the Original Quebec League... some of the NorMan League from Northern Manitoba... and the 1979-80 season of the Metro Valley League... also missing is a lot of the Martime Playoffs from most years... you don't happen to frequent a library do you? DMighton (talk) 23:17, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know why you are rehashing the sponsorship argument with the Crushers and Lumberjacks... but I have explained this to you already, this seems unnecessarily confrontational. I have reverted the team names. As an "olive branch" to you I have included a sentence to each article's opening paragraph stating that they are also commonly known by their sponsor's name. I feel this is more than enough. DMighton (talk) 02:47, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Just a head's up... "season" vs. "Season"... it is some etiquette thing on Wikipedia... I don't like and don't use it on the Ice Hockey Wiki... but they want us to use a small "s"... don't know why... they changed it all on us a few years ago. DMighton (talk) 03:35, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Example: 2013–14 NHL season. DMighton (talk) 03:37, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It's all good... I am glad someone is taking a real interest in the MHL... there is a lot that can be done with it. DMighton (talk) 03:50, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:2013 RBC Cup.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:2013 RBC Cup.png, which you've attributed to (Poster). I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:39, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jillian Martin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Ghorpaapi (talk) 12:29, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:2013 RBC Cup.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:2013 RBC Cup.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:00, 14 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Scotians[edit]

Saw your problem there... you need to look at other team pages... like Toronto Maple Leafs, St. Michael's Majors, so on, so forth... use well established pages as a template for what you are creating... you need an opening sentence/paragraph that establishes the notability of the subject...

Ex: The Pictou County Scotians are a Canadian junior ice hockey franchise located in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, Canada. The Scotians are members of the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League, under the jurisdiction of Hockey Nova Scotia and Hockey Canada. The Scotians are "X" time league and provincial champions and are eligible to compete for the Don Johnson Memorial Cup, the Grand Championship of Maritime Junior B hockey.

...and you have to add newspaper and website sources to back up your notability... I didn't see the article myself, but I imagine that is why it happened. To be safe, don't publish the article until you are certain you have established some degree of notability through sources... or if you are going to add them later, tag the article as a "stub". Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Pictou County Wellness Centre, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Olympic (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Pictou County Crushers team colors[edit]

Hi, I will be changing the team color on the info box again to better reflect the rest of the league. The color on the info box should match the color of the home jerseys for the team. This is consistent with the rest of the league's teams as you will see while going through them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Browny 33tba (talkcontribs) 15:56, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Opting in to VisualEditor[edit]

As you may know, VisualEditor ("Edit beta") is currently available on the English Wikipedia only for registered editors who choose to enable it. Since you have made 50 or more edits with VisualEditor this year, I want to make sure that you know that you can enable VisualEditor (if you haven't already done so) by going to your preferences and choosing the item, "MediaWiki:Visualeditor-preference-enable". This will give you the option of using VisualEditor on articles and userpages when you want to, and give you the opportunity to spot changes in the interface and suggest improvements. We value your feedback, whether positive or negative, about using VisualEditor, at Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback. Thank you, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 20:15, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

MJAHL article[edit]

Hey, had to revert you. the long dash HAS to be used... don't ask me why... apparently it is a proper grammar thing... I reverted you so someone else didn't have to and not explain why to you. BTW... you renamed it a while ago from MJAHL to longhand... I know why you did it... not sure what to do here... proper naming convention tells us to use the abbreviation... but MHL is used by the Russian junior league... I thought MJAHL might be a good way to go.... thoughts? DMighton (talk) 14:21, 9 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I had to revert you again... and I apologize... I love putting logos up... and I think they should be up... but we cannot... I'll cite the rule... I used to have logos up on like 30 league pages... WP:NFTABLE and WP:NFC. I disagree with these rules... but the people who obsess over them shove them down our throats. DMighton (talk) 20:52, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Also please add your input on the St. John's pages here as we seem to have a bit of a split decision. Yosemiter (talk) 20:18, 4 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again. Can you please provide a reference that the Coyotes will in fact not be playing at Gila River next year. As it stands, the council has voted to void the lease but there has been no eviction or announcement of intention in any way on the location of the Coyotes arena for next year. While I believe it is likely that they will not play there in 2016–17, I give at a 50/50 chance they at least make a temporary deal (with posiible NHL influence) to operate there next season. Either way other editors will probably revert that edit until a source confirms the future of the Coyotes. Yosemiter (talk) 22:12, 11 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Miles Mikolas with the Yomiuri Giants.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Miles Mikolas with the Yomiuri Giants.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MASEM (t) 17:02, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
