Thanks for your message and for working on Conversion Disorder! Yes it is pretty controversial and what's worse, there are probably less than a dozen people in the UK studying it. I've sort of pulled back a bit from editing Wikipedia as my meat-space job has been getting pretty busy. Have you been to see Jon Stone or his team up in Edinburgh? They might have some useful suggestions. My supervisor down at the Maudsley used to work with some functional neurological deficits through cognitive behavioral therapy with some success, I believe that's the method with the best track record. You might also try looking around on the site I work for, PatientsLikeMe.com to see if you can dig up anyone else with good advice to share.
