Draft article submissions[edit]

To submit a draft article for review put {{subst:submit}} at the top of the page.

I've yet to work out how new contributors are meant to find this however! I arrived there by looking at what was at the top of an article in the category of pending submissions. Thryduulf (talk) 14:14, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to participate[edit]

Hello Daria Cybulska (WMUK), On the German-language Wikipedia the community has introduced a system for several years in what users conform that they have met other users in real life. This system was created to create more trust between users and thus creating a better and nicer place to work on the wiki. On the German-language Wikipedia it is a huge success and I translated almost everything of this tool in English so that also users from other Wikipedias can use it. It only makes sense to sign up into the system if you have met at least three other users in person. We have met and you have been several occasions where you have met other Wikimedians, so that shouldn't be a problem. You can sign up for the tool, after three other users confirm they have met you, you can confirm other users yourself. About this system, more information can be found at Wikipedia:Personal acquaintances. In the green section are the instructions. On Wikipedia:Personal acquaintances/Participants will grow a list of participants who are active in the English speaking parts of the world. It would be great if would you sign up! :-) Greetings - Romaine (talk) 15:43, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

PS: On the German-language Wikipedia, everything is translated into English, but you need perhaps to set your preferences on English to show it in this language. Romaine (talk) 15:43, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wollstonecraft-Wadewitz editathon[edit]

Hello. User:SarahStierch suggested I contact you, among others, regarding a London tribute editathon in honour of Adrianne Wadewitz. User:Johnbod and User:WereSpielChequers have already stepped in and answered most of my questions, so I don't think I need ask anything of you. The former will be attending at a distance, and the latter in person, with WMUK swag. So this is just to alert you that I'm hosting this event, on Saturday 31 May, in the most appropriate place I could find, the Mary Wollstonecraft room. Details here. It's a drop-in from 10am to 6pm, with a highly appropriate pub visit afterwards. I've done the best I can to publicise it - it isn't ideal, but at least it squeezes under the wire with a May date. Wadewitz tributes from Berlin to Sydney are supposed to take place in this month. Ten days ago I became aware that no one in Britain appeared to have set up anything to honour this scholar of British literature, so I took it upon myself, and thus here we are. If you have any way of magically rustling up more attenders, that would be fabulous. And of course you would be very welcome to join us at any point.Carbon Caryatid (talk) 22:07, 29 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia Library: New Account Coordinators Needed[edit]

Hi Books & Bytes recipients: The Wikipedia Library has been expanding rapidly and we need some help! We currently have 10 signups for free account access open and several more in the works... In order to help with those signups, distribute access codes, and manage accounts we'll need 2-3 more Account Coordinators.

It takes about an hour to get up and running and then only takes a couple hours per week, flexible depending upon your schedule and routine. If you're interested in helping out, please drop a note in the next week at my talk page or shoot me an email at: jorlowitz@gmail.com. Status of Strathclyde University CS104 course[edit]

Hi! In December, User:AKoval (WMF) said that you would reach out to the Strathclyde University about unregistered coursework on Wikipedia (discussion at Wikipedia:Education noticeboard/Archive 12#Unregistered coursework: Strathclyde University CS104). I asked about the status of this course, but didn't receive a response from you or anyone else. If there won't be a course page for this, is there at least a list of students or articles, so the content posted by the students can be dealt with appropriately? -- intgr [talk] 09:49, 28 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@AKoval (WMF): Erm, apparently she hasn't made any edits on English Wikipedia since 2015 June. I'm not too optimistic about receiving a reply. Can you please sort this out? -- intgr [talk] 08:38, 29 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Dear intgr, It's my understanding that there isn't a dedicated education program organizer on staff at WMUK. I pinged Daria because I know her. Since she isn't an active contributor on English Wikipedia, perhaps it would be better to reach out to her on Meta wiki or at wikimedia.org.uk, where she has more recent edits. Thanks again for following up. Really do appreciate your watchfulness. All the best, Anna Koval (WMF) (talk) 17:43, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
