Freddy Got Fingered

(→Critical response: Restore more sensible image caption (rather than weak pun that depended on mispronouncing "sausage")...)

Sorry, but I couldn't resist. ;) (But you have to admit my joke is funnier than anything in the movie itself...) —Preceding unsigned comment added by RMc (talkcontribs) 02:41, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Wirral Peninsula

Hello. I noticed you've changed the map on the Wirral Peninsula page to show its location within Merseyside. Although a closer map is more preferrable to the previous one, the problem is that the southern part of the peninsula is in Cheshire. Perhaps it should be reverted for the time being? Unless there's an alternative. Cheers. Snowy 1973 (talk) 22:58, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

West Midlands map

Hi, I've hopefully made the location dot on the West Midlands map a little better but it still looks a little off. See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject West Midlands. -- WOSlinker (talk) 10:09, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Boris

Issues going on with this article. Good one here, I was wondering why that wasn't in the opening. Thanks, SqueakBox 23:37, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Winshill

Hi Dave, is the text you've used for Winshill your own or is it the text from a copyrighted source that was originally used and in fact caused the Winshill page to be protected for so long? It was me that asked for it to be unprotected, and put in some basic text whilst I or someobody else wrote text that was unique and doesn't infringe copyright thus making the page be protected again. Thanks. --mikejamestaylor (talk) 10:23, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

  • Hi again Dave, user Snigbrook has removed the text again from the Winshill page. Leave it to you as to what to do about that. Thanks. --mikejamestaylor (talk) 12:24, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
I requested the page be unprotected and now somebody constantly ruins it. I live in Winshill, and I've been updating it with standard facts in my own words, using my own local photographs. I'm sick and bloody tired of it being constantly locked. Please advise on what you plan to do, because quite frankly I don't believe there's no way to block out all revisions bar those of trusted individuals.--mikejamestaylor (talk) 13:08, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
It's not even as if the place should spark that much interest!--mikejamestaylor (talk) 13:09, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

City status in the United Kingdom FAR

City status in the United Kingdom has been nominated for a featured article review. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. Please leave your comments and help us to return the article to featured quality. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, articles are moved onto the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article from featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Reviewers' concerns are here.--Peter Andersen (talk) 16:37, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Page protections

It's preemptive anti-Grawp protection -- he seems to like moving featured geography articles. I'm going to put a note on my talk page saying that I'm willing to move any article I've move-protected if the move has been discussed and there is consensus for it. I really can't think of a good reason to move a featured article without any discussion. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:38, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Category rename

Hi; just so you know in case you aren't checking WP:CFDS, I don't think renaming Category:Rugby, England to Category:Rugby, Warwickshire meets any of the speedy rename criteria that that process is limited to. I expect that the proposal would succeed if taken to a "full" CfD, though. Good Ol’factory (talk) 03:42, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Warwick (district) merger

Thought you should know that there's a proposal to merge the article you expressed opinion on Talk:List_of_wards_in_Warwick_district_by_population - any new comments here please Talk:Warwick (district)#Merger proposal Widefox (talk) 11:59, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

RE: Deletion of Horsforth School staff list

Please could you stop deleting objects and lists from the Horsforth School Page. The teachers are very hard working and they deserve all the credit they get. Just to let you know staff lists are NOTSuperscript text vandalism. Please notice that the Pickering High School, Hull also has a staff list. If you complete the same action again, my husband who is an administrator will block you from making any further changes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Farsleyceltic (talkcontribs) 12:47, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Re: Horsforth school list of teachers names

I apologise that I did not know the list was vandalism. But I think it is valid information and me and my colleague have worked really hard to make it better. Also we have made the layout much better Just like Pickering High School, Hulls page. They have a list of names. What makes them so special? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Canpop (talkcontribs) 12:51, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

Category:Cemeteries

I saw your contributions to Template:Developments and thought I'd post here. Cemeteries are an area of land set aside to engage in a death custom. Category:Cemeteries is a subcategory of Category:Death customs. However, it should also be categorized regarding the "area of land" portion. I think cemeteries fall under Category:Human geography, but I am unable to narrow it down any further. Cemeteries are not limited to Category:Urban geography. Category:Political geography doesn't seem to fit since cemeteries are more commercial in nature (somewhat like golf courses but with significant government regulation). Category:Cultural geography doesn't seem to fit since cultural geography doesn't have finite geographic boundaries. It could be Category:Economic geography or Category:Land use, but when you look at the subcategories, the "area of land set aside to engage in a death custom" doesnt seem to fit well. Following Category:Land use, you get to land management. Template:Developments seems to break things down further, but I'm still having a hard time pinning down where cemeteries fit in the scheme of land set aside. Any suggestions? How does Metropolitan Borough of Solihull categorize cemeteries? Bebestbe (talk) 17:41, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Hi there. Just to let you know that I've reverted your edit to the above page as per MOS:TM which states Capitalize trademarks, as with proper names, Follow standard English text formatting and capitalization rules even if the trademark owner considers nonstandard formatting "official" and trademarks rendered without any capitals are always capitalized. Hey. I never suggested it wasn't true - it just wasn't sourced - and I couldn't be bothered doing the work to find the source (at that time anyway). ~~ [ジャム][talk] 09:59, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

I've replied on my talk page. ~~ [ジャム][talk] 14:53, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
